I have both, kids and the BSP... hmmm Tough call. Presuming little exposure/interest I'd probably go Circuit - portable, headphones, and the synths and web components - also good w/ phone/tablet if available. BSP is more open-ended, with a daw or plugins it's great for sequencing, and the editor is great for deeper control... not to mention all the connections onboard if you have xtra hardware available- but demands more attention, not making its own sounds. Price is about the same I think. Can't resist throwing in the LaunchControl XL... with the Isotonik Step Sequencer and XXL Scripts it's quite powerful, can do MCU/HUI and even CV for about 1/2 price the other 2... lucky kiddo either way!

Thanks for that insight. We're not currently running a DAW/Ableton so I'm looking for something that can hook in to the iPad and play clips etc from there.....which is what I was hoping the BSP could do, but I think I need to look at Circuit as well. Just scraed of buying something we can't actually make use of :open_mouth:

Sure. Well if you don't have pc/mac (Daw not withstanding) access Circuit would be better, the editor for the BSP is fairly essential and only on desktop - though w/out access to the Circuit Components website (not possible currently w/ ios) would also be a hamper for me (firmware update/sample upload etc). However, if you have a mac/pc both are non-issues. And you can always get a free Daw like Carla, which I'm fond of.

Thanks boss. I think I probably need to bow to the inevitable as regards Ableton, but for now the options all look interesting. Just trying to make sure I do the best I can to leverage this initial interest on the part of the boy monster.

This is the single thing I come up against/wish for (because of the track limit)....it's also one of my favorite parts of Loopy's UI.

As a guy who manages software for a living, I have a deep appreciation for the brilliance of this interaction in Loopy. It's so intuitive and useful--just like twirling the circle to align loops. Just fantastic UX.

Agreed. Which explains my unusual patience in awaiting the Masterpiece etc.

WOW... Amazing.... These Launchpad sound pack really makes an amazing app (Blocks Wave) even more amazing... With a healthy serving of Sound Pack ready to go...
Thanks for all your hard work...

  • Ahah! Clever, you succeeded in getting me to reinstall Launchpad... I hope my black friday soundpack binging goes towards some sort of transpose pitch per pad. Some sort of pitch overide would be amazing! :)

Really nice. Has inspired me as to what a Temptations/ Massive Attack style track I'm working on needs.

This combination of BW and LP is THE best sample library and browser / arranger / performance tool on IOS......having all of this content available in one place, and so easily used has turned this combination into an absolute must have for DJ's and Producers everywhere.

I"m digging it. Incidentally I tried out the Team Circuit pack last night alongside the LP-app... really nice sounds, going to be terrific to add all these sounds in. I still want the LP FX to work w/ Blocs... my favorite Gater!

Agreed , adding circuit into the equation makes this an instrument that is very difficult to put down, instantly gratifying, and none of the usual iOS hassle :)

Hmmm. I was talking about getting the kid a Beatstep pro but maybe I should be thinking of thing Circuit thingie...

Circuit is an amazing little box, I have a beatstep (not pro) too, but I use the circuit all the time, and the beatstep rarely.

  • Circuit should be in every home

  • Hey, Matt and Novation peeps.

When you have a minute, how about synchronising rotation for your splendid duo. At the moment, Launchpad opens upside down to Blocs Wave. Surely, it is not a big job to fix this minor irritation?

Actually, it was my other half who said the track reminded her of the Temptations (Norman Whitfield period) crossed with Massive Attack (current). Hearing what you'd done put me in mind to add some subtle horns. Will be posting this and other tracks in due course, all things remaining equal. Other half in the middle of health scare and having various scans, which will hopefully turn out okay.

  • @Nkersov hoping for the best.

  • So where's the launchpad store sale?

I've not experienced that on iPad Mini, when does it happen ?

  • I have bought Circuit from Thimann, as b-stock item for 283eur (to me it looks like just opened box)

  • A little more than I would have wanted to pay for a bit of an experiment, but I guess some of it can be written off on the damn-kids-at-Christmas-account. The other inherent cost of course, and one that a silent voice is shouting 'DON'T' at, is this is the road back into hardware which, iPads to one side, I have carefully avoided....tempting to go cheap and throw 99 bucks at the Beatstep, but suspect I will either regret it or end up buying both anyways....

If you disregard the internal synths and samplers and FX and memory locations and visual feedback on scales/notes/tempo/swing/gate...it is essentially 2 full beatsteps (without the CV/Gate out) and 4 x 1 note beatsteps. ;)
If you do get it for him.....it won't be long before he is hunting for it...and you hand it back to him sheepishly ;)

I'm the strategic king of sheepish (otherwise it'd be the 99 dollar option all the way :)).....

Well, I have one, secondhand, also as a bit of an experiment, so far still 50/50 whether I want it or not, but as for a gateway to a door to more hardware, I don't think this is that - it seems nicely self contained and isn't really 'part' of anything bigger or more ambitious that itself.

My disappointment with it is purely that I can't see the parameters, and at the end of each usage I just feel like I've just been using a toy designed purely for those that like to twiddle knobs. On the other hand, better to do that on this than spend 20 times that much on a muddler system that achieves exactly the same end, and never stops spending your money.

Strange, what device are you on....and which way up do you have it, or is it flat ? I'll try and see if I can get it to do the same ;)

When starts appstore black friday? It seems first blocs discount and later they will give discounts on in-app store.

  • If we eventually get Blocs recordings just showing up in Launchpad without need to import them manually I will start to buy Launchpad FX.

It's an iPad Air 2, latest IOS and apps. Just tried again, and launching Blocs Wave the app is oriented to the right down, and launching Launchpad it's oriented left down.

  • Audio Import is still €6,99 in both iPhone and iPad apps.

I'm not sure about the schedule but I have an email from them saying there will be somekind of discount in some moment related to the black friday season.

Maybe monday? Maybe true black friday is next week and they have updated blocs/launchpad to getting ready the floor?

The audio import looks ok in Launchpad but it would be a pain to export my hundreds of Blocs recordings and import them into Launchpad. Hopefuly one day they can share the same filespace. Same dev, why not?
