  • I picked it up on sale. At first I was hesitant because I have many midi controllers but once I learned how it functions, I found it to be unlike any other app I have. It is just awesome!

  • Is it portrait mode only?

    It works in landscape.

Man with the invisible bottle wanders past calling Johnny...Johnny.....just the one....?

  • Just got it - brilliant, nothing else quite like this.

Please do not tell everyone else about how this is about especially not the thing about playing the Module Ivory piano easily via it into AUM and sounding as if doing such things was what you might actually know about thank you. Hic.

  • Can Navichord do all this?

  • Reminds me of Firo. AKA Fiddlewax Pro.

  • Portrait mode only bmer

Not my experience on the Big Boy.

  • Is this the same as chordpolypad ?

By no means. I do like this, but I LOVE CPP....different can of bongo altogether.

I think it's unique because it has a harmonic concept in the way the different midi controllers are displayed and split on the screen.(You also have 10 different harmonic Templates you can swith to, which multiplies again the possibilities ) You can send midi notes to different MIDI channels through the multiple midi controllers appearing on the screen. But what make it most unique is how these scales, chords and notes relate to each other on just one screen and are bound harmonically. And therefore It is possible to associate different apps or different hardware machines together through this melodic concept of the app. If you add Midiflow or midibridge in da game to control levels of velocity with each output, it then becomes quite a unique app for composing.
The name of the app is not super attractive, yes, but appearances are deceptive. This app really confirms the saying.
Oh and it's on sale until today.
    Voilà.

But, many touchareas have different velocity depending where you put your finger...

  • Oh cool, thks Errka Petti !
I had only tried on my Ipad mini, hehehe

  • Yes it works in landscape, and itˋs really, really BRILLIANT!

    Yeah, really brilliant!!

Tested Korg Module Ivory Piano together with upright Bass from Madrid (Korg Gadget) and lovely strings from iSymphonic - superBRILLIANT!

  • This is definitely a Fab app. Works in landscape mode too. Well done Dev. ;)

  • @ErrkaPetti , Thanks for calling my attention to this app! :) :) :)

@kobamoto , In my opinion this app is awesome & unique because it's the only one I've ever encountered that offers so many options for the chord voicings and when left to itself manages the chord voicings so nicely.

The post-operation voice-fixing I've had to do in every other chord-generating app which eats up a good deal more of my time than it saves, is all (as far as I can tell) correctly and beautifully taken care of in this app.

I am fortunate to have had many years of formal musical training so I can do the whole chord progression thing with no chord app. However, this app lets me do it all with just one finger, and since I have an illness which affects my hands this makes an enormous difference to me. Huge. Just awesome.

I feel confident that this app will significantly benefit works from talented formal-musically unschooled creators, and further to that this app will probably make me less distracted by chord voicings I think sound weird and help make it possible for me to enjoy more (or even some?!) creations from the talented formal-musically unschooled. Because more awesomeness from more audio creators gives me a happy. :)

Big ups to the dev of this app, fabulous, thank you.

  • Does this app have a deep library of chords? The main reason I use Suggester and ChordPolyPad is to fish through their deep chord libraries and sketch out progressions.

  • I was a big fan of his previous app, ChordMapMidi. The music theory behind the app is based on direction of flow which follows natural chord progression. The idea is to start on a chord anywhere, then move downward towards the root. It's based on the map he developed as a music professor: http://mugglinworks.com/chordmaps/genmap.htm He's obviously expanded it greatly.

For all the reasons already mentioned by others. I especially like the velocity that works with every playable key depending on where you touch (vertically or sideways). Switching chord progression maps easily while playing is another feature I like. The ability to work with chords, bass, melody (and additional) options on the same screen and map different sources plus the option to play melody notes related to a chord. This app makes great use of the ipad screen space as well.

In my humble opinion - yes, but I'm biased :)
    Multiple voicing options - check
    Multiple channel output - check
Templates - there is a better thing - open harmonic space without rigid structures

I like this app, tried this one and many others as a study before making Navichord.

I like Navichord a lot, but, the difference is that the theory behind chord progression is more cleard here...

And, ChordMaps2 has ability to output to seven different Midi sources...

We are many people out there in the whole world that is so pleased that we have soooo many choises of good chord apps, just like ChordMaps2, Navichord, ChordPolyPad and Chordion... they all make us smile ;-)

  • Just purchased this after watching the video....I look forward to being able to use it properly :)
