  • This is all great news, assuming iOS gets updated similarly. Somewhat surprised iKaoss didn't make an appearance anywhere in there since they recently ported it to Android. I do still hope that will happen one day, but for now...yes, please, to audio tracks!

Also, as I just mentioned on another forum, anyone else find it interesting that it's the first (AFAIK) non Props app to support Allihoopa? I wonder if this indicates a closer relationship between Korg and Props, or if Allihoopa is functioning as its own service now independently of Reason and Props other apps. Hmmm.

Maybe the resent news about SoundClouds trouble have made KORG look for a replacement service for GadgetCloud (which is based on SoundCloud)?

You might be onto something there. There'll potentially be a gap in the market soon. Wouldn't have pegged Allihoopa to fill it m'self but, it's not impossible!

  • This is awesome news! As mentioned, I think the strength of Gadget is touched based on IOS but the mere fact that they are expanding to MAC is a sign more great things to come.

Looks like maybe it's another effects Gadget, like the new Rosario guitar one shown in the other photo. It has waveforms rather than midi.

Yes, the interfaces are very similar. Exciting.

Exciting news on the new audio Gadgets and mac Version.

I recently got the NanoKontrol Studio and was pretty underwhelmed with the interaction between iOS Gadget and the controller. So many of the buttons are redundant.

So hopefully they'll also have a firmware update on the NK Sudio with new functionality for the desktop and mobile versions.

Maybe they will eventually make a new controller specifically for the desktop version. The Studio and Key are all about portability. Now that there is a desktop version, size/portability is less of selling point. Who knows. Just a thought.

  • Yup! :) I think the Rosario /Durban names maybe the same gadget in Standalone and Gadget versions.

  • looks like Durban is a loop based drum gadget? (labelled drums in the header).
I love gadget but I hope they introduce a horizontal arrangement view too

Rosario is blue, Durban looks golden and has one less knob

  • Wow...never expected this so soon. Pumped!!

  • Interesting, i would love to have the Arp Oddyssei as AU.
Gadget on iOS is really great but an AU within Logic with all automation, midi FX and stuff can go much further.
I hope it´s possible to share patches crossplatform.
Using the touch screen on iOS to control the plug-ins would be great!!
    I´m really surprised about this.
If now Moog follow up i would be happy.

3 years for audio tracks though^^ better late than never!

I guess it's working out. My studio hasn't been set up in so long, and still not. Hopefully, it is by the time this is released. I need a change in direction.

Yeah, let's just hope that Korg keeps iOS and Mac versions in sync regarding all the features.
In about a week or so we'll know more...

  • I wonder how much the plug-in collection with more than 30 Gadget´s will cost.
If it´s not too high priced it could be a big success for Korg.
They take over really in software now.
I wonder if a windows version is planned too. A shame it´s Apple only. I think porting from iOS to macOS is not too hard.

likely two different gadgets, following the city naming conventions

  • I like the playhead :D

    good point

  • Would be crazy if the long-awaited audio recording gadgets were available only for the new Mac version of Gadget. Korg wouldn't do that to us.........right?

    Long-awaited has to means us

    I don't think that's the plan.
If audio does happen to be Mac only, I'm back to mpcX dreaming. :disappointed:

That's what I was thinking Samu

  • I would think they will make the same for iOS and mac....at least that would make sense.
I like the general idea of working with the same tools on different platforms with patch and project sharing.
In a perfect world every app would be a plug-in and vice versa.
(wasn´t there a BeatMaker3 mac version planned too)

Or possibly the opposite. Rosario, as far as I know, isn't a prominent place. (It's a town in Mexico, I know, and Wikipedia tells me there's a Rosario, Uruguay?) Plus they look the same, so standalone/gadget would make sense. But then you'd expect a descriptive, synthy name for the standalone, like Odyssei or iWavestation....

There is also a Rosario in Santa Fe, Argentina - Which is a Transport hub, implying many routes (many inputs to an FX track)
Durban and Zurich are also Transport hubs.....so is the naming down to them being Gadgets that can have many inputs ?

  • I would like to see the AUM route to Zurich :D

  • Even if Korg keeps iOS and Mac version 'in sync' it would be a pain with the new Gadgets and IAPs since Apple has made it impossible to 'share' resources/purchases between platforms (iOS and macOS).

So one way Korg could fix this is to generate 'gift-codes' that could be shared between iOS and macOS (Ie. buy and IAP in Korg Gadget for iOS and get a gift-code to get the IAP in Mac AppStore and vice versa).

We'll see what happens, hopefully it will be a super positive surprise :)

As far as I know, Rosario is a big city in Argentina and is FAMOUS for the football named after it (Tango Rosario) ;)
