Drumagog for Auria comes with a 500MB library of multisampled GOG files, consisting of Kicks, Snares, and Toms.

That's straight from the Auria description but in the screenshot it shows crash & ride samples too and I can't completely remember but I'm 96% sure it includes Kicks, Snares, HiHats (Closed & Open), Crash, Ride, Toms and maybe more. Also remember you can out your own gog files in. Sme extra gog files I used went way in-depth including all the abnormal hits and snare pedal, rimshot, snare side, etc etc

@JMSexton, yeah was actually asking 'cause I read that description in auria and it made me think it didn't have hihat, crash or ride. But if I can import my own gogs, I can try and find some online and import them. Thanks.

  • I'm almost positive it comes with them but like you said find some online and use iFunbox to import them

  • Bought a couple of iTunes cards at a 20% discount last week, earmarked for either Cubasis or Auria, but kept wavering over which one to get, each having their pros and cons. Wavered just long enough for this to happen! Now if Steinberg also pulls a stunt like this I might still get that one too for its MIDI capabilities...but yeah, some of those Auria plug-ins look attractive too...

  • I have Pro-Q and the MicroWarmer, both of which I've found to be indespensible by now. The MicroWarmer really makes every instrument POP/fill out and I started doing it before the Pro-Q in the chain. Definitely want the Timeless and Drumagog soon. And the Pro-C. And the Saturn. And engineering school.

  • There's one I forgot the MicroWarmer is great and can add great depth, warmth, etc to single files or full songs. Lots of ppl use it on everything

  • ProC is as good as you think it's going to be @CSwinn... There's no going back after you start using it.

  • @boone51 - it's also the most expensive (I think) but I have heard great things about it

  • ProL is the most expensive at $40. I got all the Fabs except that and the de-esser. The brick wall limiter in Auria does a good enough job ATM for me atleast (and Microwarmer, although that one is obviously not strictly a brick wall limiter, but still i likey:)

  • @JMSexton, I thought it was the same price as ProQ, but maybe my memory is off. I thought ProL was the most expensive one. I haven't been able to figure out why I need that one yet, mercifully. Please don't tell me.

  • ProC is like compressors for dummies. It totally demystified that whole process for me. I abuse it almost as much as ProQ.

  • You're right Pro-L is $39.99 and the others Pro-*'s are 29.99 then $19.99 and down for the rest

  • Check out FabFilters YouTube channel for lots of great tutorials on mixing in general, and their plugins (it all applies to Auria as well since the plugs and all are the same).

  • On sale again:

On sale for 50% off through Sunday, July 6!

  • Worth it for the filters alone.

  • Let's hope we see an IAP sale again too, although there has been no evidence to suggest that it is happening.

They are a bit of a hassle to do I imagine, since 10 different companies needs to coordinate a sale inside Auria (if we're talking a sale on everything available via IAP). I can see individual companies putting their stuff on sale tho now and then (like FabFilter did with their Auria plugs along their regular AU/VST plugs not that long ago).

  • The last IAP sale in Auria was just the FabFilter stuff, right?

  • edited July 2014

Yes, although they did an all IAP sale around thanksgiving last year. But they have done a few auria only sales with no IAP sales, so it's probably just wishful thinking. However, having a weeklong recording session and therefore subsequent mix sessions coming, it would be a handy time to have a sale. I fully expect the involved companies to respond to my individual needs on demand. ;-)

  • No. This is not how the cruel world works. Finish your mixing then they'll go on sale.

  • During last years add-on, plug-in sale I got a variety of stuff. I'm pretty sure that Rim said on the Auria forum that he wanted to do the sale again about the same time in 2014, but he didn't expect to do it more often than once a year. Auria already takes up by far the most space on my iPads, but I'll probably get more if there's another holiday sale this year.

  • What Auria plugins are not already covered by the AUFX series, Holderness Media effects, Audio Mastering app, etc?

  • Anyone knows if i can use the Plug Ins from Auria also as filter in Logic Pro X via the iConnectMIDI2+ .

  • @Coloobar - ProG, ProC, ProQ, ProL, Saturn, Timeless, pretty much all of the premium filters are not comparable in quality to their iOS counterparts you mention, in my humble opinion.

Check out the FabFilter tutorials on their YT channel to get an idea of the depth and possibilities of the plugins. They are great tutorials anyhow just for an insight into mixing and mastering skills.

  • @Coolobar and you can run more than one instance of the plugins within Auria unlike the marvelous AUFX effects

  • @Coolobar: I bought Auria after much hesitation but without any real understanding of the plugins etc. I'm glad I got the program for what it does, no question, but the joy and bonus was when I put my hand in my very shallow pockets and bought the plug ins. I agree with the above; love the work of AUFX/Holderness et. al. and own pretty much all of them, but they are like riding the bicycle down to the market rather than jumping on your Vincent Black Shadow and going to the same destination. Each has their rightful place, but the thrill is absurdly different.

quick question: if someone doesn't have the extra cash for plugins, is the base app still worth the purchase?

What does it provide over BeatMaker2 for basic DAW functions? (...pardon my ignorance. consider this an opportunity to wax eloquent with Auria fanboy-ness)

edit: @cswinn wrote this kind advice on another thread:

Search the Audiobus forum for "best daw" and you'll have about 1000 pages of opinions you could read through. Highlights include "Battle of the DAWs", "Pick a DAW, any DAW (Er, Help ME Pick a DAW), "Another DAW Thread", and for the adventurous, "DAW Quest".

  • Yes, you can do a great mix with what is included.

And following that advice, I don't need anything else, but there are a few more I'd like and having them on sale would be cool, but not necessary. I'll certainly buy what I need when I need it. Right now anything else is a want.

I was just feeling like stirring the pot. Now I have tonestack working reliably as an IAA insert, plenty to play with there!
