So true. I hear stuff on the radio that could easily be created using this setup.
At first I thought this was a little joke
because I/we were only using Sector so that it's midi clock function could be used to trigger the play button in AUM to play Xynthesizr. But, I'm starting to agree... Xynethesizr + Sector does sound pretty yummy.
I just tried them with Sector slaved to Xynthesizr and they paired up right away. Pretty tight sync too.
I just tried it this minute too. I had Sector turned down in AUM because I was just using it as @InfoCheck suggested for it's midi clock. But, as a result of your comment that I thought was a joke
I relaunched the setup and turned it up... hit some random sequences in Sector with a built-in sample. Then simply used the builtin synth in Xynthesizr and adjusted tempo. Holy Smokes! That is an awesome combo!
Link support is in beta and will be available soon, according to Yuri's Twitter acct. Can't wait!
So much love for Xynthesizr!
Yuri is the man. Xynthesizr is one of my top apps used in almost every setup and playback.
God I've got to stop falling for this shit, all the hype this forum generates.
There I was, early hours of the morning, couldn't sleep, haven't been well for a few days, browsing the forum out of tiredness and felt a sudden warm glow around this app and all the great feedback it has been garnering.
Then I though, haven't bought an app for a while, let's give this a try. 7 quid seems a tad expensive for something that looks like Auxy again.. 10 minutes later I've got a very simple sequencer that can mess up your notes at random with a basic synth sound. Not happy, tired, lost £7 to something I probably won't open again.
Except..
I found the examples. Really excellent and I would never have guessed how to do most of these things. Top stuff! Thanks for the hype and shit fellow forum members. Keep on keeping on!
I want to show some love. I have often thought of buying this- but all the demos I have looked at seem to be ambient/ gentle sort of sounds. Can this app have a hard rasping edm edge to it? Any links to same?
It has MIDI out. Use what you like as a sound source. The inbuilt synth is limited but it's surprising how much they get out of it in the examples.
Don't forget, everyone, that I've done a WTFKnobs on Sector's MAP SEQ and WRP buttons, to help understanding

The number of posts to this thread should be reason enough for the dev to add new features (Link). I love the app, never deleted it and use it a lot
Link to MIDI works pretty well.
Stay tuned! Can't say much as a beta tester but I think you will be happy soon.
The sole fact that it can control several external entities and change scales/key for all of them on the fly is gold. Everything else comes as a cherry.
yes
could someone tell me how to sync AUM and Xynth so that when i press PLAY in AUm , it starts Xynth as well ??? I was trying something this morning with Xynth and a few apps ( worked great ), then added a piano ( W/midi in stepbud ) and that's when problems began : stepbud seems to respond to aum, not xynth ... (?)
Use Audiobus. Xynth is an old app. So, Ableton link doesnt have start/stop. But it does use Audiobus. So if you load it and AUM into Audiobus and use Audiobus' transport. All the apps will start at the same time.
Oops! Faulty memory. As someone says down stream, it does support the newer Ableton Link protocol with Start/Stop.
Both AUM and Xynthesizr support Ableton Link Start/Stop. Enable that in both apps and you should be set.
@espiegel : will try that ! thank you
@aplourde : already did that, without much success ( will try again though ) thank you
MIDI clock is the best option because it starts and stops instantly.

Load the Xynth IAA in AUM and use these settings:
This is like one of those early puzzles in Myst. All these seemingly random boxes to check, and then if I get it to work, I'm still not sure what I did.
Thank you, @rs2000
You're welcome!
Right, musicians shouldn't have to deal with such stuff.
Just tell Siri "Make them sync, sweetheart" and she'll take care of it.
@rs2000 thanks a million, it works ! and thanks too for your great sense of humor
Hahaha.
3 ipads
1 Synthesizr
2 Chordion
3 Samplr
Synced via network.
Heaven
Actually, Ableton Link Start/Stop was added in version 1.6 a year ago. This setup does work, but apparently something in @mlau 's setup broke that.
That said, I do agree that running Xynthesizr from Audiobus is the best option: It starts from the AB play button and it incorporates Audiobus State Saving, so Xynthesizr will be recalled with its settings automatically (unlike in AUM where you would have to manually load the Xynthesizr patch).
MIDI clock does work, but as AUM itself points out, MIDI clock used with software destinations isn't completely reliable. When my system is under load I definitely notice that MIDI timing gets wonky.
Thanks. I've updated my comment up-thread. It looks like I hadn't updated to the latest version of Xynth on the phone.
I’ve just soaked it in WOW.
Wow!
Xynthesizr Is always good. A classic.
