    @LFS thanks guys - great job :)

  • Congrats on the new release, Lars @LFS - everything looks great in 2.1 ... really.

Full disclosure: I finally pulled the trigger and upgraded to Auria Pro last night. As a chap who benefits from double-tracked vocals, I simply do not understand how I got by without transient warping these past few years.

Utter transparency - to gain more available disk space, I deleted (for the nonce, mind you, only for the nonce) my copy of Cubasis 2.0 in service to your friendly iOS competitors at WaveMachineLabs. But I see the steady improvement and stability with each Cubasis release, and I'm pleased I have such a rock solid backup should I ever need to bench my starting quarterback.

Not trying to damn you with faint praise, just a mostly honest chap who is very pleased to see Steinberg/Yamaha continue to put their best foot forward in an ongoing fashion to help keep this here iOS boat afloat and rising with all the other boats. So, kudos again on the new release :+1:

  • Thanks a lot. Today will be a very good day.

  • The best keeps getting better! Thanks a lot for the yet again one of Many free updates. Looking forward to playing with the midi editor later on today.

  • Thanks for the great update + video tutorial 2.1. Midi editing is so easy now :-) congrats!

The Minisampler is still really annoying to use with the pad controller. Go through the trouble to create an instrument, assign samples, edit the pad controller, and then when you load that instrument again the pad controller is back to default. :/

This means you either have to use the default pad controller set up every time, which is not only difficult to edit but also makes for some weird midi clips because the default pad controller set up is not in order, or it means you have to edit the pad controller every time you load the instrument which is a pain to have to do. :'(

  • Thx! For again another cool update :) Now desperately waiting for AB3

Every time a new update is out, this is the first thing I check :) 2 years and still waiting for it to be fixed

  • 2.1 is nice and a warmly welcomed update to Cubasis.
Freeze is finally working fine and the new 'free'(after registration) Reverb is cool too!

I can already 'feel' the Cubasis team being hard at work on 2.2 or maybe even 2.5 with more goodies ;)

I do hope triplet-grids will find their way to Cubasis together with custom 'Custom Grind/Quantise'.

The updates to the Piano Roll Editor are pretty awesome too!

Over all I'm happy with this update!
It's really nice work by @LFS and the rest of 'Cubasis Team', Thank You All!

Excellent, excited to try this out. For those of us unable to watch video at certain times is there a written summary of the 40 improvements anywhere?

The videos don't cover all 40 improvements. Lars had actually posted them, but that comment disappeared (forum software throttle?) Anyway, the first video is a brief overview and the second video is a walkthrough of a small project with several of the new features highlighted.

Nice to see SoundPrism and Audiobus represented in the promo videos.

    Yes ;-)
it looks like a AB & Audanika PromoVid too, hehe congrats @LFS @MichaelTyson @Sebastian

you do a real good job!

I would like to say that the whole Audiobus team thanks Lars Slowak and and the Steinberg Engineers and Testers for helping us create Audiobus 3.

Sadly App Review has made it impossible for us to launch Audiobus 3 on the same day that the Cubasis 2.1 update is launching but we're hopeful that it's only a matter of days now until we will.

Cubasis works great as a multi-track recorder in Audiobus 3. Its support for the MIDI system makes it fun and very simple to add Cubasis as a MIDI destination, which then creates a MIDI track for every MIDI pipeline in Audiobus.

You'll see in a few days how that integration works.

Once more, thanks to Steinberg. If you don't own Cubasis yet, this would be the right time to grab it.

    Cheers,

    Sebastian

  • I have gone the Auria Pro route complete with most of the "must have" plugins. I keep seeing Cubasis being used in videos and it seems to have a less convoluted workflow but still powerful.

Anyone want to convince me I could use both given what looks to be a great update and offer? I'm fairly sure I don't need another DAW ...

  • Cubasis has always had excellent integration with Audiobus nice to see it continuing

Piano roll seems much improved, and the reverb is a great addition.

@eustressor @TheVimFuego IMO one good reason to keep Cubasis around is Micrologue, it's a great synth. I tend to treat Cubasis as a more open version of Gadget, as a composing environment.

Also, there is a great set of presets you can buy for Micrologue called Virtual Universe:

    Hi Sebastian,

My previous comment did not make it through (forum bug?). So here is another attempt...

Many thanks for the kind words!
As mentioned before, our team is equally thankful for the great and continued cooperation with all of you.

Best of luck for the upcoming Audiobus 3 release and let's keep it up... :)

    Best,

  • Thanks @richardyot, I'll check that out. I do like supporting well engineered software but hate redundancy even more.

Congrats to all on the Cubasis/AB3 collaboration in any case.

  • So great... I wish all devs would manage their apps and updates as Cubasis devs team...
Clean and clear, no big promise leading to big disapointement, no anouncements of annoucements and delays of delayed release dates, really taking the user's feed-back into account, ...

An example that many music apps devs should follow IMO...

  • Any chance link will make it in the next update?

What has the performance of Cubasis over time been on an older device like iPad mini2?
I've been quite interested in buying Cubasis but I'm not keen on upgrading my device right now. Just wondering how others experience this daw on mini2

    Hi Sebastian,

My previous comment did not make it through (forum bug?).

Just our automatic spam detection being a little too sensitive... :D

  • This is terrific. Excellent, responsive developers. Cubasis is really likable to use, the reverb sounds terrific and the peek at AB3 is really thrilling. (And the Cubasis 2.1 preview video is the best advertisement for SoundPrism yet!)

  • Just dedicated a bit of time to this amazing free update. Cubasis 2 has a nice workflow and the updates improve this.
Really, really like the midi editor. Very nice and easy to use. Fold would be nice! The midi controller and automation editor, although maybe not updated in 2.1 (Ive just watched a vid and now I understand) is, for me the easiest on ios since the all but dead ProMidi. Im looking forward to doing some midi and sweeps and messing with my cc values. Ps Id like to be able to name my cc controllers.
It looks to me like there is still a lot to be done with AU integration, I cant seem to save any presets (in iSem yes, its different) and I cant see any of the AU instruments controls in the Automation editor. The workaround is AUM and probably AB3.
Good work Cubasis team @LFS , very happy with my purchase.

  • Sooooo Awesome!!!! Thanks @Lars and Dev team!!! Cubasis is my go to for midi and tracking!!! I congratulate the team for such an amazing update!

For me and my mini-2, Cubasis performance has been just fine...seems like it has improved over the various releases and fixes. I'm deep into some Cubasis projects right now and have not upgraded to 2.1, but I have every confidence that it will be fine. I'm just not upgrading Gadget or Cubasis on the mini-2 right now until my project/album is complete.

Also note that I run Cubasis 2.0 on an iPad4...and as long as I don't get too crazy with apps and effects, it runs very well.
