Thanks Toz for the feedback. exactly what I needed to hear! When I compose music I like a strong basic structure throughout and resist overcomplicating things. Sounds good. Sold
Cheers
@LFS A big, huge Thank You to the team for including the 32 bit version!!! I just updated my iPad4 to Cubasis 2.1 and....I like it, A LOT. I didn't do much testing yet but all the basic seem fine, and I really appreciate keeping the expanded piano roll....er well, expanded -- when switching around from track to track. Editing in the piano roll seems a lot smoother too; looks like a big improvement. I'm looking forward to diving in more and checking out all of the other features and improvements.
Due to a forum issue it did not work to post the list of over 40 improvements we've included with Cubasis 2.1 this morning. Since the issue is fixed, please find all of them listed below...

I second that! I'm gonna upgrade soon but at the moment I'm running Cubasis on my battle-tested iPad 2
I almost always use only internal instruments and I'm very happy with the performance. For very complex projects, you'll need a faster device, but for my needs it's more than ok. Very impressive work by the Cubasis team
Excellent update, thanks to the Cubasis team. Bug fixes I needed, useful improvements plus new features, all appreciated. The new Piano roll works very well. Thumbs up!
P.s. I agree with @richardyot that Micrologue is very nice (and perhaps underrated around here); even though I own almost every iOS synth I really love the sound of this one.
Huzzah! Big thank you and congrats to Lars and team.
is a kind of funny spot for a typo.
(by ^the most accurate...)
Really enjoying how smooth the new midi editor has become with this upgrade. Not had this much fun with midi in awhile now. Still need to hone more midi skills no doubt but this makes that a lot more enjoyable!
I won't try to convince you that you need both, but I like having both for the variety of instruments and effects.
I will admit I prefer the look and feel of Cubasis. I find its interface less cluttered and controls less fiddly. It is also less resource intensive, so I can run more apps with Cubasis than Auria Pro. If I had a more powerful iPad with a larger screen, these may be moot points.
I don't mean this as a knock against Auria Pro because it is a fine DAW and I still enjoy using it.
Ultimately, it comes down to what you enjoy, and there's no way to really know if you'll like using Cubasis until you try it. If you're still interested, I suggest making the purchase and give Cubasis a proper trial. If you don't like it, you can ask for a refund.
Just read over the entire list. An amazing amount of work. Judging by the MIDI Editor ticket numbers, some of these have probably been bugging the cubasis team for a long while now. Closing those out had to feel great! I hope you guys get to close the laptops for a long while after the initial hub-bub dies down.
Developpers usually work on different releases in parallel. So no closing the laptop
on to the next iteration most likely. Well done though awesome upgrade.
Agree on the first sentence, feel 100% the other way round on the second and third. Toast
100000000% agree!!!
Yes, sir -- toast indeed. That's why I ended my little advice column with a YMMV disclaimer.
Ableton Link... ?
The new reverb is so beautiful sounding!
Still no support for big-screen iPad Pro
Thanks, I hadn't thought of the refund idea, I've not asked for one in many years of app buying. Always just treated an inappropriate purchase like a learning exercise I guess.
That and I research the hell out of stuff so I generally know what I'm getting.
Workflow does look smooth ... I shall see what $ I have left after the AB3+MIDI Effects bundle splurge.
I won't name and shame, but I've only asked for one, and that was an IAP.
I believe the rules vary based on geography. In the US, they'll give you a few before refusing. I seem to recall the terms being more generous in Europe.
Aussie App Store here so who knows! A blanket "No Worries Mate!" would be nice.
I don't think I'd refund anyway. I don't mind paying for quality development, it's on me if I can't make good use of it.
Nice update— the midi is now officially "delicious," but I do hope version 2.2 == tempo track.
Haven't had a chance to try it out. Big step forward?
Midi is easy to use now. Almost gadget like simplicity. Although i can't automate stuff. Anybody know if that can be done? Like automating decay on hats. I tried live, while "overdubbing" it and nothing. And in automation only sind volume, pan, sends etc.
As far as MIDI editing/piano roll in Cubasis, I'd say so. If you've got a few minutes to kill, check out the tutorial Lars posted on page 1. As Mr. Moench mentions (say that 10 times fast), you can skip ahead to 3:40, as he goes into the MIDI editor shortly after that.
And as yug pointed out, you don't have to use the move buttons to drag notes around.
Huge midi step forward! Was easy now improved!!!! Thanks!
Thanks Mister. I'm very happy if we can bypass the having to use the move buttons etc. Have to give them credit how far this area has come over the last two updates. I simply gave up on midi use prior to that, but now it's a good space to get things done etc.
Come on steinberg! A little love for the big iPad Pro!!!!
Just the bare minimum. So it doesn't look like I'm zoomed in all the time. (And maybe the full keyboard instead of the regular iOS keyboard)
Yeah, yeah, Great update of course but... come on!
(Not complaining much, after all it's working fine..still... would be nice)
@JohnnyGoodyear I've had pretty good luck using the built-in MIDI I/O features with the apps I use, but Audiobus 3 should make it super easy for folks to get MIDI data into Cubasis, Gadget, Auria, etc.
Looking forward to the app (Hell, this is the AB forum, there should be a party or at least cookies etc), but really looking forward to the demo vid
The question is how are we going to sync cubasis with audiobus 3 / link.
Maybe once iPad Pros are being phased out?
