Alchemy Mobile - v2.1 Sharing Update

Hi,

We've just released an update to Alchemy Mobile. The big new feature for v2.1 is SoundCloud + email sharing of songs. Today we're announcing a song writing competition. All tracks submitted for the competition must be written exclusively using Alchemy Mobile. Grand prize is an iPad Mini. More details here:

http://www.camelaudio.com/news.php?nID=233

Good luck!

Peace,
Andy.

  • Thank's for the Update! As always a great app.... what about using imported desktop presets in AlchemyMobile?

  • All presets must be from Alchemy Mobile sound libs only.

One of the reasons we're running this song comp is to get users sharing songs for others to download via our new share page. If sounds come from desktop Alchemy that won't work :)

  • @ZenPunkHippy: O.k. thank's... that makes sense of course!

  • @Flo26 - thanks for the comments. We will keep updating Alchemy Mobile with new features, hopefully a future update will have something to better suit your style.

  • My Song for this Contest:

  • Don't forget to email / share your entries to usersongs [at] camelaudio [dot] com from the app song menu!

Anyone else have problems (again) since the update? I tryed to make some little tracks with all 4 tracks, each 32 bars long. So far so good now when i try to reload the songs and play them... there are lots of clicks and stuttering inside. I also cannot render the song down. Rendering never ends. Of course i tryed everything (but no new install...NOT again please) to solve this problem. That makes my (favourite) app pretty useless at the moment. I'm working on an iPhone 5 iOS 6.1.4.
Indeed i have this problems with all tracks/songs longer as 16 bars. Perhaps a memory issue? Anyone else??
Edit: O.k..... now i tryed to load the song... clear up all tracks.... now i load the song again....seems now it works. Mmhhh... mysterious. It's like when i load a song without clear the tracks (or start a new song) that alchemy load it "again" without clear the midi...???.... whatever... i'm curious about it. But good thing is there seems a work around for me without install new my 15GB Alchemy content ;)

  • @Galaxyexplorer - thanks for the info, good to know you've found a workaround.

That is a strange bug - could related to disk space, how much free space do you have on the device? I will run some tests later and see if it's possible to reproduce.

    Oops, double post.

  • The bigger problem is when i record a 1 bar loop (or longer) in track 1 and then i try to record another in track 2...etc.... the app always freeze at the end of the loop in track 1. The record button is still red but i can't do anything now. Just close the app complete and start new works. But always the same.
This problem is since the 2.0 update and i did not found any work around here. There are no other apps running and there is enough space left (some GB). There are some other minor things which works better before 2.0.... but i know there is no way back to older versions :( (or?!?!?) Perhaps the wrong forum here but i really love the app still and not sure if it's a bug or just some of the mysterious things happen to a few of us. However, i will try to find a way to solve this. So it seems that no one outside has similar problems here.... perhaps my fault (or it's an iPhone problem because most here use an ipad).

  • I will try that on my phone later.

  • Just tried that on iphone5, works without any problems for me. I will keep trying and see if anything happens.

  • Thanks Nu2moro.

@Galaxyexplorer - I have seen the record bug you mentioned, but it is really difficult to reproduce reliably. Because of that I'm not sure if we can fix it for the next minor update but we'll do our best.

Perhaps it is related to multiple load / save / record sessions. Do you recall what type of actions you've performed (besides starting a new song and recording the first track) when the bug occurs?

  • @ZenPunkHippy - While you're here I have a quick question regarding midi export from Alchemy on the iPad. According to the instructions it seems to indicate that if you have purchased the premium upgrade that there should be an option to export midi for a song/track that a user has created. I see an option to "Share" but this seems to share audio and a file in proprietary Alchemy format. Before i try uninstall/reinstall I want to verify if I'm missing the feature or if i'm just misunderstanding the capabilities that are available.

    Thanks!
    Adam

  • The manual hasn't been updated for the latest version which is why is mentions "Export". I will get the manual sorted out ASAP. "Share" is the correct option to use.

When a project is shared to iTunes, a .wav file render of the song and .mid files for each track should appear in the iTunes app share folder.

If you're seeing a file with the extension .AlchemySong, change the extension to .zip and double-click to extract the contents. I'm not sure why that would be happening, though - as I say, the export is ow

  • Thanks, that makes more sense now. FWIW, the .AlchemySong file is what was attached (in addition to the .wav) when selecting the share via email option. I have not checked iTunes folder yet but will do so next time I hook up to PC. Thanks again.

  • i'm about to buy the pro version but i have a question about saving sounds,i can't find something in the (spare) manual. The app description (even for the free version)says i can save my own"remix pad snapshots"but how?

  • Nobody ever did this?I thought Alchemy has a lot of fans here, nobody making own presets? ;-)

Sorry for my impatience but i'm an appaholic.I need to spend money.

  • I've never found the need to make presets, as the permutations of the factory and IAP's are almost endless. There is a video somewhere about snapshots though. I'll see if I can locate it.

  • This covers importing and snapshots.

  • @synthandson:yeah,i want to buy it anyway.Just wanted to if it's possible at all.But the website is misleading. It clearly says i can save this snaps in the free version.

    @thinds:thanks a lot,that was helpful.The whole"user"menu is missing in the free version.That explains it.

Stay tuned,i'm off to the appstore for a second ;)

  • I don't think you will have any regrets about that purchase :-)

  • @thinds Thanks so much for pointing this tute out. Haven't seen it before and shows/reminds me that there's yet more to Alchemy than I am currently exploiting.

    @Crabman
I'm getting a vicarious thrill knowing your getting into Alchemy Pro- incredible tool

(Mind blowing to have on ones phone, btw, with capable DAW like BM2)

  • checking it out right now, looks good so far.Great sounds.Any advice which soundpacks are a MUST and/or links to free patches in the net?I already installed the Desktop player to convert patches or soundfonts (which is possible if run the full demo for a month).

  • Where on the web site or iTunes page does it give this impression?

"But the website is misleading. It clearly says i can save this snaps in the free version."

It's not our intention to mislead anyone, so if the text isn't clear enough we'll update it.

About the help: yes it is really out of date, sorry about that! It will be fixed soon :)

  • Pleased to see an increasing (it seems) amount of current contact from some devs here. Kudos to them and shame on those who don't see the (surely obvious) value in an honest and friendly exchange.

Hi there, thanks for stopping by! :)

On the alchemy mobile product page you have a list with all that features (i.e."save your own remix pad snapshots") and under this list you have ANOTHER one where you list all the"pro upgrade features".That clearly implies to me that the list above is talking about stuff included in the free version,no?

an updated manual would be nice, thanks!

Really great app, well worth the price. Many quality sounds, even without additional libraries. But i opened the box of pandora,i can see myself spending a lot more on soundpacks :)

  • Must soundpacks are Himalaya Vintage, Steamworx, Guitar Mutations and Water, in my opinion. But every single one is really good. Choose according to your tastes.

  • Thanks,i just saw the audio demos on their homepage. That's a good start i guess.
