Thanks Crabman, it's a fair point - I've passed the info on for discussion.
About the preset demos - the sounds you hear in the iOS app demos songs constructed using Alchemy Mobile and the presets from the specific Mobile sound library, whereas most of the demos on our main site site are for the desktop version (which obviously includes more presets per sound library).
thanks for the hint!I already found a solution for my first world problem.Buying all packs is a massive discount (38%),and if i'll wait for the next giftcard 20% promo i can grab them all for roundabout 35,-€,great deal i would say.
How big are all the packs together?
Small suggestion:There is an option for the keyboard to glide between notes, would be great if i could set the glide speed manually! It's too slow for my taste. And:i couldn't try it yet but are the 4 Alchemy Tracks listening on 4 different midi channels when feeding him with Notes from i.e.cubasis?If not, please consider to implement it,thanks
I would also prefer to have a darker skin (like the blue one in the desktop version)but this wish is not THAT important...

With @crabman. Totally reads like all the stuff up top comes without the IAP.
I'm a big fan of product comparison tables myself. Makes it all very clear.
All packs together are 2.3 GB. Still waiting for new libraries. Any news?
I love this app so much that i have all the desktop soundbanks installed on my iPad as well, not just the mobile ones.

Thanks,so roundabout 4 gigs with the sounds i already installed.Massive footprint for iOS,lucky me with a 64GB device.
BUG :all the presets marked as"favorite"are now unmarked again, first time after i played with it arround as IAA in Cubasis.Quite unpleasent result cause it took me about 2 hours of selection.I would be a bit unhappy if that happens after i worked thru all soundpacks Mini Retina, iOS 7.1.2 - Cubasis 1.8.1
Brw,Would be nice if the"favorites"folder also shows the tags (Drums,Synth,Pads...etc).
That's a strange bug, AFAIK no one else has reported it.
Did you quit Alchemy before running Cubasis?
Do you have iCloud storage enabled?
Making categories visible in Favourites is a good idea, I'll find out if we can do that.
Hi @ZenPunkHippy :
i was just about to write here again because the problems with the browser is even much more worse:
1.Alchemy wiped my Favs again and this time it was in standalone so this problem is not IAA related.
2.i downloaded the "a taste of camel" bank on the desktop and converted the presets for Mobile use,all (afair) worked fine that way.Until i copied some of them to my own sounds in the user folder. From 25 sounds i saved,7 make no sound at all now (example:angel drifts) and another 7 sound totally different (more simple/boring) now (example:bulb).I know that coverting a desktop preset may fail but they ARE already working (there is a second"factory presets"folder now, right under the regular alchemy factory presets),they just stopped working after i copied them to the user folder.
Some sounds are doubled now (example:house pike),one in the Mobile Factory presets and one in the"other"Factory presets folder.Could there be a relation?maybe it confuses Alchemy in some way?Just a wild guess
There is another itunes promo going on so i definitely buy all soundpacks today, more than 1000 Alchemy sounds on my device then so i need a reliable way to organize stuff . And having categories in the Favs folder would be brilliant with so many sounds, thanks for considering!
To answer your questions:
1.(Another problem btw,not related to the"deleting favs") Alchemy always fails to load as an IAA instrument when i start it from cubasis (Alchemy was NOT open in the background before).I can launch Alchemy as a Generator from Cubasis though OR as an instrument when i start Alchemy"manually" (launching the app myself while cubasis is running).Maybe i should update Cubasis to 1.8.2 now, afair they fixed some IAA stuff (but i had no such problems with other apps) but i'm still a little afraid. Many of the"iOS8 ready"updates causing trouble on devices with IOS7 now.
2.Cloud storage is disabled
iOS 7.1.2,No Jailbreak,Mini Retina
Yes, this could be related to having the ToC presets installed / confusing the favourites system ... would be surprised, because I think favourites are referenced by path, but I'll check.
When this first happened, what additional presets did you have installed? (aside from official Mobile sound libs)?
The reason you see duplicated presets is related to the folder name. Official Alchemy Mobile preset folders append "Mobile" to the preset folder name, the desktop presets do not and some of the official Mobile presets also appear in ToC for desktop.
I keep getting my favourites wiped as well. Before updating to the version that added iCloud support for favourites, I copied that plist file over to my PC just incase. I activated iCloud on both the iPhone and iPad, not sure if one overwrote the other, but even when I add that same favourites plist file to both devices (or turn iCloud off) it gets wiped. I had sooooo many favourites Maybe it was a good thing
Edit: Btw, I have one desktop library installed (Cinematic Impacts), when I installed that one I got a second factory folder as well (which I'm guessing is the desktop factories). But that folder and the mobile factory folder have a different name/path tho inside the file system
@ZenPunkHippy said:
ToC was the only library.Besides this i also converted some of the Factory presets from Alchemy desktop as well. Those where the only"native"alchemy files,i also imported some soundfonts this way.
i deleted the ToC library from my device now.I bought all soundpacks today and don't need them anymore (yes,i'm aware that not all sounds are available on mobile but hey...1000 sounds should be enough for the beginning
Any news on the 'browse by category' feature?
ie: If I want a bass sound I can browse 'all' the bass presets rather than having to exit and enter a new folder.
This would make it slicker to use for sure, for some at least.....seems an odd omission....
Ooooh (makes crazed 12 year old girl sound) I've always wanted that, especially since I picked up all the libraries....would be very glossy.
oh yes, that's really an awesome suggestion!!
Ok,one more thing:
Why not putting a simple"disk"button right or left from the browser menu bar for saving presets? Most other apps are doing this (for good reason imo Currently i have to open the menu, going back to the root directory, selecting the user library and click on"create copy of...etc.".Compare this to "pressing the disk button and click on"save as..."
How can i access the cloud from Alchemy?Would be nice to work on sounds on my phone and use them later on the pad.
edit:nevermind, found it.Was not that hard But still, favorites got wiped all the time.now i activated the cloud on my phone and ipad but no difference. With iCloud on it doesn't save the favs at all.I close alchemy and reopen and all gone again.
Still looking in to this problem. Have not been able to reproduce yet.
Installing non-Mobile presets should not make any difference because favourites are referenced by path ...
Just to confirm ...
I assume that the Pro Upgrade is installed / enabled, and you have not deleted the app / re-installed in the mean time?
i.e. the favourites are being randomly deleted, after quitting the app and restarting?
Are you favouriting customised presets? Taste of Camel presets? Official sound libs only? All some random combination of the above?
1.That's right.
2.exactly.Tested again:i just marked the first 5 mobile factory presets, nothing else.I (force)closed the app and restarted immediately.Nothing happened.I restarted again 1-2 times, the Favs were still there.Closed again and did some other things (iMessage, safari browsing),opened the app after an hour again:all Favorites gone.iCloud is disabled.
3.See above
@ZenPunkHippy, I've also been having the favorites-deletion issue on two different iPads. I lost my favorites several times on both devices, so I turned off the iCloud setting.
Unfortunately, I'm having another issue that's much more serious for me. Alchemy Mobile no longer works within Audiobus. There's no sound from it when I load it through Audiobus. If I unload Audiobus and load Alchemy Mobile on its own, the Alchemy Mobile sound comes through again. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling both Alchemy Mobile and Audiobus, and the problem remains. The Alchemy Mobile icon in Audiobus shows an "Error," and there's no sound. It's the same on both iPads.
Alchemy Mobile is by far my favorite synth on the iPad. I've purchased almost all the desktop sound libraries, so it really hurts not being able to use it with Audiobus.
Any help would be appreciated.
@DavidEnglish I recommend posting what version of the apps you're using as well as your iOS version and device type. I had a similar problem with the previous versions of both Alchemy and Audiobus. I found that removing then adding Alchemy back in the AB input slot worked, though sometimes it took a couple of attempts.
@telecharge, I'm using the most recent versions of Audiobus (2.1.6), Alchemy Mobile (2.3.9), and iOS 8 (8.0.2) on both devices. The two iPads are an iPad Air and an iPad mini 2. Both were upgraded from iOS 7 to iOS 8, though Alchemy Mobile worked fine just after the iOS 7 to iOS 8 upgrade.
I've tried removing and adding back Alchemy multiple times with no luck. Tried every combination I could think of. Have had this problem for a couple of weeks now. Waited to speak up, thinking someone else might bring it up.
I wonder if there's another app that might be stepping on the Audiobus connection somehow. Does seem unlikely, as loading only Alchemy Mobile into Audiobus after a full reboot still cuts out the sound. And unloading Audiobus will restore the sound to Alchemy Mobile. Maybe another app that leaves something resident in memory, even when it's not running?
@DaveMagoo said:
YES, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE! I hate it when libraries are divided by how they were bought and not how they will be used
@DavidEnglish Have you tried airplane mode?
@telecharge, yep, I tried that, as well.
I'm now removing any music apps that I installed around the time the problem started -- on the off chance that one of the new apps is causing the problem.
The only other thing that comes to mind is rolling back your version of Audiobus if possible. Andy (@ZenPunkHippy) should be back by to offer some sage advice. I would open an AB ticket, if you haven't already - http://audiobus.zendesk.com/home
@telecharge, I'll look into the option of rolling back Audiobus. And I'll go ahead and open up an AB ticket, since it looks like this one may be a head scratcher. Thanks for your help on this.
Good luck. Here are some instructions on rolling back, but it is only practical if you use iTunes on a computer and haven't emptied your trash/recycle bin.

Alchemy Mobile 2.3.9 is working here with AudioBus 2.1.6 on iOS 7.1.2 and iOS 8.0.2.
The next point update to Alchemy includes an updated AudioBus SDK, but I don't think that's related to the problem you're experiencing. The other bug fixes are related to minor iOS GUI glitches and other SDK updates specific to iOS 8 app integration.
Still not reproducing the Favourites bug using either the app store version or our internal beta.
How full is the disk in your devices? I wonder if the the favourites list is being auto-deleted by iOS for some reason ...
