Great to hear about this update
If I could buy it again I would
What does the synth sound like? I find all the IceWork synths share a common feel — something kind of icy and percussive. I am hugely impressed with them all, but I'm not sure I need another. Especially when Borderlands is looking at me so forlornly and wondering why I don't pay it any attention....
It sounds as good as the (new) teaser shows.
Here's @jakoB_haQ's take on v1 (the iPhone-only version) and paying with the sounds - I like that element of "feedback ready to wail" factor. Like all the iceGEAR apps, has its own distinctive sound:
Thanks!
The problem here is that even when the sequencer is playing and it's still 'shaky'.
This is easy to try in Cubasis. Put a 1 bar long note on a track and set the arpeggiator speed to 1/16. In practice the result should be 16 repeating notes one after another in continuous loop. It works if I manually trigger the 16 notes, but when using the arpeggiator it 'halts' briefly before it loops. I'll try with a few more hosts...
Awesome update. If I remember good, I think the dev didn't want to an universal out of it. His synths are great!
Cheers to the dev!
Amazing
Just got it because it's auv3 and have to say it's by far the best implementation of au
All the features are there and the design keeps it's integrity... @brambos should study this app cause there is no reason why he could not add troublemakers sequencer into the au
Another thing is that this synth is perfect for ambient and fully tweakable in so so many ways
I'm so happy
Well done ice gear!
Ps- can anyone tell me how to save ones own patches in the au version??
omg
I have explained why it didn't work. No need to keep going on about it.
Temperate edit there. Impressive.

It's the Shrrrrrr sound (resonator and freq modulation) that makes it sound unique. Its great to create evolving sounds with a bite, because almost every module contains an lfo and env you can adjust.
Never heard of it...but it's AU...so...purchased
This is great, thanks. And that is the exact sonic quality that these apps have, that shrrrrrrr.
Love the horizontal scrolling AU interface! That's a super elegant solution to the problem of limited screen real estate.
The UI is so Nordy.
If one already have and love the shrrrrr in Laplace and Mersenne, what would Redshrike add, soundwise?
Great GUI, but the sound it produces is a bit to cold and tinny imho.
get um
It's a good day. This makes a nice pairing with yesterday's Syndt purchase. Warm tones of ripe cherry, loam and sweet spice give way to a dense, muscular structure in this solid red.
Hope Cassini lives on when the real one crashes in low orbit...
Not looking good I'm afraid. Just had a quick try and also loaded in AUM. No success on programme change here.
Very quick setup though.
Was really hoping this had programme change as I'd love to see that get added to Mersenne.
ARP syncs fine in Garageband. Overall I can see getting a lot of use out of this instrument. Just hope they change the background color and aesthetic of the preset page to match the rest of the synth. Right now it's kind of jarring to switch to it
Wow this is the best news of the year!
Not only does this update include everything I could ask for, but it also gives hope for Mersenne getting the same treatment from the other side of the coin. I may need to update this list a bit

If Mersenne (which I already bought) goes universal I'm going to buy the rest of the iceGear set just to say thanks (well, and a pretty good bet they'll get this treatment too)
it doesn't work at all in AUM or Ab3. meanwhile Addictive Pro's arp works perfectly in time as an AUx.
so its definitely a question of implementation.
It was kind of strange when it came out as iPhone only, but only because it's a music app. Most apps are designed for mobile first, so I guess they wanted to build one from the ground up and really get a handle on AU/universal implementation before trying to wrangle in their other apps. Timing quirks aside, it's a great success and real step forward.
Ok... but really I was just trying to help out lol
Ice gear have been developing iOS apps for years ( since 2009) and really, after studying the layout of the Redshrike app as a AU in GB and seeing how he has all the features fully present in it at no compromise of the GUI integrity shows some exceptional development skill to me and it's a fantastic synth.
I am more than satisfied with it. The sequencer for its arp is easily accessed at no compromise in a very cool manner within the au version on iphone..just choose the option and it scrolls up and down. I'm certain you could have done this with troublemaker.
Troublemaker is not so good as an au in my book and I did purchase it solely to use as an au and was disappointed. As a standalone or with AB or IAA it is great, but as it stands I gave you a donation for an app I will not use lol.
I brought this issue to you merely trying to help you see how a more experienced developer pulled off something exceptional in design and functionality at no compromise to the product or user. I know others wish the troublemaker sequencer was included in the au version too, it is an essentially part of the app.
As a developer you have the right to make your own choices and as an app purchaser I reserve the right to give feedback too. Please take it in the spirit it was given
Let's leave it at that shall we?
for the love of all that is good will you please stop hounding devs to do what you want ? it is really starting to get annoying. also. Redshrikes arp, its lfo's etc are not working in time in modstep, Aum or Ab3. 3 of the apps i use most of the time. so no. it is not perfect at all. and before you say anything i own garageband, Auria and Cubasis and i still prefer to use these 3. atleast the brambos Aux work with these apps regarding tempo. which is a lot more important than an internal sequencer. with the lfos etc being out of time i'm stuck using the standalone app with Ableton link to make it useable in my use case.
On top of all that the Aux doesn't work at all at 96khz and 24bit audio. while all the brambos Aux and pretty much all other Aux work. this is far more important than a sequencer as i use my ipad as a soundsource for my studio rig. So unlike what you say these developers still have a ways to go with their Aux implementation.
With all these issues aside i still LOVE this synth. just please stop hounding @brambos
Freedom of speech dude..besides this forum despite its amazing inspiration, what to speak of being the best iOS music app news source is full of people "hounding devs to do what they want " , so why single me out lol
I don't know about the issues you are facing with redshrike and modstep et all but it's certainly bugs that you would have to "hound" the dev about
Your issues with the app are likely very valid and would need addressing for sure but my point was that all of redshrikes features are clearly accessible in the auv3 version and I cannot see why this cannot be the case with most other auv3 versions.
You can be annoyed all you like, but this is a forum where people should express themselves politely and I have done so
If you don't like my way of commenting, do as they do in Facebook and keep scrolling
Guys, chill please. Some people would like Troublemaker to feature its sequencer inside the AU. Duly noted.
As a professional interaction designer since the mid-90s I've designed a fair few user interfaces so I'd like to think I can judge what constitutes a nice user experience. Fact is: AUs only have a 175 pixel height on the iPhone SE and a rather measly 202 pixels on the very common 4.7" iPhone screens.
I could not cram a 3+ octave sequencer in there in a satisfactory way. I tested vertical scrolling and concluded it did not meet my quality standards. Unless Redshrike has a 3 octave pianoroll in there somewhere I do not see why I should "study this app" as their design challenges were rather different from mine.
Many people enjoy the sequencer in the Troublemaker. I'm not sure they would have liked it as much if I had compromised it by force fitting it into the AU.
Can we now please move on to enjoying the fact that Icegear have now given us an excellent update to Redshrike?
