  • Can anyone confirm that it is not possible to load more than 4 AU instances ?

Proofreading mode - I'm wondering if that's a typo on the 'filter suatain' dial, or that it's in fact something completely different to 'sustain', or maybe I've got a special one off version of the app :p

Hang on to it. It'll be worth a lot of money some day.

    My thoughts exactly !

Looks like a fix was made. Working for you?

The latest update to Redshrike works fine with Cubasis :)

Working perfect in AUM too. Everything is in perfect time :D

This should be an em dash (—) not a hyphen (-). Also, it shouldn't have any spaces around it—see this CMOS FAQ entry. ;)

this is turning into a typography wiki?
might be worth adding that while the em dash without spaces is widely used in the US, most of the world uses the en dash with spaces around it. So you could argue that in an international forum, the en dash would be slightly more appropriate

    Touché.

Should be able to load as many as your processor can handle. I just ran 8 instances of Redshrike with no issues in BM3 beta and the same in AUM on my 2017 iPad. Somewhat depends also on polyphony. I started getting odd behavior at 10 instances.

That's a pretty good score. 2017 iPad seems like a zippy little machine!

I've had some issues with 'hung notes' especially when using the arpeggiator.
It's not host-dependent as I get the hung-notes in Cubasis, ModStep and BM3-Beta(#24).

Even when I send 'Midi Panic' from the hosts the notes keep on droning in the back-ground?!
So the RedShrike AUv3 may need some kind of 'panic button' to avoid this...

I do like my 2017, it's much faster than my Air 1. 8 Redshrikes seems the limit for my processor in Cubasis too. When I attempted to load the 9th Cubasis refused to load and dumped all instances requiring me to reload them one by one.

The New York Times uses spaces around the em dash; but it also eschews the Oxford comma, so make of that what you will. And I find your en dash suggestion is alarming! The en dash has a very specific function: to signify a range (1974–1988) or to act as a hyphen with an adjectival proper noun that cannot be hyphenated (New York–based).

Opposable thumbs and proper use of the dash are what sets us apart from the beasts, which I believe either Churchill or Dwayne (the Rock) Johnson said.

Good to know. Thanks Samu. Is there a MIDI panic button in BM3?

Double Tap on 'stop' sends all notes off to all connected AUv3's and IAA-Instruments.
This is why I'm worried about RedShrike droning notes. This 'issue' is also present in ModSTEP and Cubasis.

That's why I suspect it is indeed an issue within RedShrike...

BTW can anyone check if this responds to Program Change for patch selection?

Not looking good I'm afraid. Just had a quick try and also loaded in AUM. No success on programme change here.

    Very quick setup though.

Was really hoping this had programme change as I'd love to see that get added to Mersenne.

Do you know if Program Change was ever added? I didn’t see it specifically listed in the version updates. I do see though that clock sync was improved.

  • Ok well I decided instead of asking more questions I’d just go ahead and purchase Redshrike. Wow, great synth!

My first two programs have got me hooked already. At first it seemed some comments were correct in that it sounds a bit cold and can be overly resonant. However, with good precise tweaks I’ve been able to get beautiful warm sounds, especially using filter section. Wish you could change the LFO wave shapes, unless I’m missing something? Also wish you could modulate the FM frequency. But despite the limitations, it’s actually very powerful and fun to program. For now it shall be my “poor man’s” Nord Lead.

One other thing... the AU seems to have the scrolling interface only which is nowhere near as quick or visual for programming, so I’ve been using it stand-alone. Can the AU interface be expanded somehow?
