I guess you're right about spending time with it, I've only had minutes so far and I like the idea of it's sponginess as a kind of in between keyboard and spongy thing for drums. I hate returning stuff and hate demoing stuff in store
gonna have to choose one
don't return it D= its amazing once you learn it. just use it when you don't use traditional controllers lol. and if for some reason you cannot carry a traditional controller the "keyboard" mode is still pretty good. you will probably just need to edit the velocity curve till you get something that is decent for you. or disable the curve altogether and use a single velocity.
Hi folks.
Just want to share my experience with Roli Seaboard Blocks. I bought songmaker kit month ago.
It's amazing controllers but cons make it feels like $600 piece of crap when you want use it with iOS.
Reason for that - there is no way to change blocks mode from iOS. Not all apps support's MPE. So if you want to use apps with and without MPE you will need to disconnect from ipad, connect to pc just to change mode of blocks!!!
Look like Roli doesn't hasten to make dashboard of iOS, they just busy with marketing and look like ignore customers requests about dashboard.
I don't know why no one of youtuber's didn't mention such problem but it's make me thinking about "marketing".
What your thoughts about it?
PS. In case of many midifx start appears on iOS, maybe one of them can map MPE to single channel mode and etc?
I think you can use the Roli Noise app to change MPE/regular modes. I found this out a few days ago. Apparently the settings stick after you leave the app.
Yes, use Noise or Seaboard 5D apps.

👀
i never had this feeling and I use the ROLI’s almost exclusively with IOS...
When I use them, then mostly with MPE compatibles apps. They works nicely with IOS... 😊
I don't see any settings except 5d settings. I'm miss something?
Yes it's work amazing with MPE compatible apps. But that not changing fact that it's unusable with non mpe compatible apps without access to pc.
Maybe it's done with other control module?
But I think it should be possible with the app like other members pointed out. if not, it's nuts for sure...
In the 5D app press the tiny circle button in the upper right corner, then press midi setup.
Nice iPad stand.
I absolutely agree.
When I first got the seaboard block I was stumped to find theres no way to change any of it's settings without going through software, there even is a mode switch on the side but I have yet to figure out how to make that do anything. Anyway, my seaboard is usually connected to a Mac so this is something I can live with but if I was to use this primarily with iOS only it would be a major PITA since you have to bring up the Noise App every time you want to change anything. Coming from the larger Rise model, I was used to being able to adjust the MPE stuff on the fly... so I picked up the lightpad- and control- blocks thinking this would remedy the situation only to find a new range of problems. First of all, there's no way to link the control block to a specific seaboard or lightpad, it'll always control the one it's physically attached to which ultimately defeats the entire approach of being modular. Second, half the time it just doesn't do anything until I re-attach it a couple of times.
Fast forward half a year, the lightpad block already has a number of dead LEDs and will longer charge via the DNA connection. Granted, it's the original first gen version and I have not yet reached out to ROLI support but still.
Finally, I think the seaboard block on it's own is a great product considering what you get for the money but the blocks system as a whole, I don't know.
Thanks. Found that in seaboard app, but after several changes it's stops changing modes until I connect blocks to pc and reset modes to defaults.
Mine lightpad (M2) have dead led out of the box.
Also, to use "songmaker kit mode" lightpad power button and seaboard power button should be on same side....
