  • I have and use their harmony voice app and it's pretty great at what it does. 4 voices instead of 8. Delay and reverb sounds good. This looks interesting but don't know if i need more of similar.

Hmm ... no mention of scales under the app description, even thought the demo shows major vs. minor ... I wonder if you an set scales for vocal or guitar harmonies?

Well , it would be very easy to make custom presets with different pitch on each delay. Bundled in factory presets would be better.

I suppose you don't mean setting the slider to a scale ?

Actually, yeah, like select Am and it gives you nothing but Am intervals. I tend to be a set it and forget it kind of guy when it comes to effects

Oh, VirSyn developer(s) are actually listening and I won't be surprised if it's implemented in next updates

Thanks - glad to hear they're on the ball

  • I hear you. I really have exhibited some self control lately- I resisted getting Mood and now this. I just have so many apps that don't get opened enough I'm really trying to slow down on buying every synth or AU that come along. It ain't easy...

Yeah, if it weren't for the fact I'm going to be travelling for the next two weeks and working on lyrics for three different songs, I would wait. Intro prices are nice, but I'd rather pay the extra dough later and avoid the app-bloat guilt.

@aaronpc App-bloat guilt is the American way Mister. What's the point of our imperial hegemony otherwise? C'mon man. Do your part.

    Another question:

Can you adjust the amount of feedback/repeats per voice or do they just repeat once - or is this what the 'regen' option does?

I nearly bought the Echo Pitch app, but wasn't keen on the UI. But I'd like a delay for guitar that has multiple, pitched repeats, and this looks close - as long as I can haver control over the number of repeats/echo's per voice. The harmoniser would be useful for vocals too.

    Anyone?

    ...taps feet, waiting patiently...

@MonzoPro yes the regen is adjustable per voice as is delay time therefore number of repeats

@Zen210507 the app does have AU, it's an effect.

    >

InfoCheck. Yes, I realised that, but it!s not showing up in my list. IPad Air 2 with latest IOS. Will try a reboot, and see if that sorts it out.

That is very odd so hopefully the reboot works, if not perhaps a delete and reinstall of Harmony Eight will fix it.

Yes and no. A reboot - for anyone else finding the app missing from AUM and Garage Band - does make it visible, and loadable. I can now use it with any of the factory presets as an effect, but the little triangular Edit button in the bottom right corner does nothing under AUM, but will work under Auria Pro. Crazy.

Also, in stand-alone mode, tapping on Pitch at the top of the screen does nothing.

    If I'd realised it was going to be this awkward, I'd have waited a few more weeks. (-;

Alas, deleting and reinstalling have no effect. Tapping the pitch control still does nothing, except under AP.

So as an AU effect I can't make any on-the-fly alterations. Nor does it show up as IAA. So, unless VirSyn intend all alterations to be made in stand-alone mode, which would be really awkward, a fix is needed. At least in some cases. Can anyone else edit in AU mode?

No problems loading in AUM, but the sound quality is atrocious. Put my guitar through it and it's completely unusable - awful sound. Even when I put a clean square wave IAA synth sequence through it you can hear distortion in the the repeats.

Sorry Virsyn, but this isn't good enough for me - I can't use this, refund time.

Yes, me too at this rate, really shoddy. As if the work experience boy did the coding.

Err, how do I ask for a refund, these days? :*

  • Works great, sounds fine on my 2017 ipad in Cubasis. I can edit all the settings just fine. Didnt see anything about saving presets though.

Log into your account, and report a problem. Since there are obvious problems with this one, they shouldn't quibble.

Bloody shame, I'm looking for a decent pitch delay for guitar, but this falls very, very short on sound quality.

Against the grain here I know, apologies, but everytime I see a new Virsyn App I get mad thinking "Fix the F*&king midi in your back catalog!. You know, the ones I asked you about a year+ (6,7? apps) ago.

  • I do feel someone from @virsyn will pop up here soonish.
I've had no issues with the app so far on my Air 2 iOS10.3.2...
I had problems with one of their other apps some time ago but it got fixed.

  • @MonzoPro @Zen210507

I'm sorry not to meet your expectations. Tried to make it clear with stating in the description that Harmony Eight is
for monophonic sounds ( vocals and other inherent monophonic sounds like trumpets, flutes... ) because of the need to detect a pitch. With polyphonic sounds or heavily effected input sounds you won't get very usable output.

I've tried mono sounds, and my guitar signal was clean with single, picked notes.

Again I've just tried a Gadget sequence with the Berlin mono synth, two note sequence, clean and simple bass sound.

As well as adding grain to the delayed notes (even on subtle pitch changes), it's actually bending the notes as well. All effects off, only two delays activated, minimal repeats.

This probably explains the 'out of tune' comment someone made earlier.

Seriously, I don't like to knock good devs - and I'm a fan of your stuff and always bigging you up on here, but this sounds dreadful.

Tapping the triangle in the bottom right corner switches between the three AU windows for me.

  • It does wonderful pitch corrections and Tonleiter beautiness, and I'm looking forward to mangle my voice with this nice app for my Psytrance attempts in Cubase Pro.

Wait, so it locks to scales ?

  • How is it sounding with percussive sounds?

Really good. I just got simple bass and snare drum going and added Harmony 8. V cool.

  • will somebody confirm that it locks to scales or not?

  • @Korakios @kobamoto

Lock to scale is not part of 1.0 but as soon as we ironed out the remaining problems it will get part of Harmony Eight.

  • thank you Virsyn

  • oops just one more, does the app allow you to load up audio files into the app itself or is it live input/audiobus etc.. only, and is there a trim editor as well?

  • @kobamoto

    Sorry, live input only.
Going offline for today ( it's late here... ) Thank you all !

  • ok thanks

It's fine with percussion, as it's generally short, non-melodic sounds. Put a guitar or clean synth sound through it though and it's awful.

The functionality, UI etc. is great, the audio quality is the issue for me - completely unusable.

  • Must say I'm torn on this now. The voices in the video sounded OK for a first listen but to have people saying it sounds dreadful is putting me off. Anyone care to push some other samples to soundcloud for comparison?
