With reference to my requested refund, I now have a case number, and a load of irrelevant crap from Apple that I apparently might like to look at!
No, what I'd like is my refund. Being treated as if it's almost a crime to reject an app because it doesn't work for me is putting me off taking future chances,
Which is great, if you want a slightly off key clunky munchy, shoes in the dryer hypno-mangler-warbler, but if you're after a nice clean pitch delay, or (as hinted in the apps title) harmoniser, then you're going to be disappointed.
And if you accidentally hit two strings or more on the guitar, or attempt plucking a bass note you'll be rewarded with a sound akin to a piano being hit with a sledgehammer, as heard through a distortion pedal.
I've held off asking for a refund. I can get a bit of use (about 5% of what I'd hoped) by using it in some avant noise stuff where sound quality isn't an issue, but I'll have to get something like Echo Pitch for my planned guitar and synth pad soundscapes. I can't really afford it and would rather have put the money towards something more usable, but I want to avoid the Apple blacklist. I noticed your issues in loading it too - it wasn't appearing in AUM on my iPhone until I swapped around the loading sequence.
With this, and reviews of the last couple of their apps Virsyn are off my insta-buy list - I'm completely underwhelmed by the audio quality of this one. Naughty.
I'd agree with that. I got carried away with sheer enthusiasm and belief in quality, when I heard about this app on this forum. Instead of waiting for reviews I jumped in...and less than ten minutes later, regretted it.![:( :(](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/frowning.png)
I think echo pitch app is the app you where looking for.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
For vocals (edit/clarify : the H8 app) it's an instant buy . (and experimental other sources) . Waiting for other videos with Vocal samples in the mix ...
I think you're right, though if I do it makes this one completely redundant.
Yes , but face it , it's not suited for your use and you will use it rarely. Nothing wrong to refund and buy another app .
And since Harmony 8 is based on pitch tracking it means they have to merge a new app to this one, which may not worth the time . ( Although I would buy it asap at this price )
The track I'm currently working on has a simple, one string at a time, slide guitar riff. I loaded an 8-bar recording of it into AUM and used a Bus Send to send it to a second channel with Harmony 8 inserted. I was unable to get anything useful out of it, even with no pitch shifting the quality was poor. Maybe the variable pitch of slide guitar is too much to ask for this type of processing.
Unless you play very precise, short notes that don't overlap, the sound glitches and wobbles. I've given up trying to use it with guitar, in particular with lower notes, as the pitch detection just isn't there.
I've had another go with the app this morning and I really can't find a use for this so I've asked for a refund. I'm pissed off that I've had to do so as it's a black mark against my account, but I'm skint and can't afford to waste money on an app I'll never use. Looks like Echo Pitch is a much better app for this sort of effect.
Same as you I got carried away and jumped in, but lesson learned.
Same experience here. A complete mess; if you play quick clean single note phrases; any sustain on the previous note just causes wobbles and glitches. Slow and stately and you might just get away with it. Very disappointing; Echo Pitch works much better with smoother shifting; I can play 2 or 3 notes together and it warbles far less than Harmony Eight. Just wish I could set Echo Pitch's individual channel delay times in milliseconds rather than clock divisions. I'd also like a lighter gui.
I've only ever asked for one previous refund at the app store, but it seems that I'm prevented from asking for any more....
If you pick the 'not listed here' in the problem report section you can describe the issue. I've mentioned this thread and my YouTube post, and there's a couple of negative store reviews already so they should consider it a genuine request.
I think Virsyn either need to fix the sound quality issue, or change the name and app description to accurately reflect what it does.
Looks like Echo Pitch is a much better app for this sort of effect.
FWIW, I bought Echo Pitch a while ago, and find it much more useable. It's not AU, but as IAA under AUM,it works a treat. The preset Guitarmonizer might be a decent starting point for what you want to do.
As for taking chances and finances, I'm in a similar boat to you, and don't like that App,e have found the time to send me two e-mails bout spending more, but still haven't issued a refund for this duff app.
For anyone who is a patron of mine on Patreon I just made a big demo for Harmony Eight, I actually had a crazy time with then after I'd finished the madness I recorded some vocal and stuck it in another project I'm doing, but it's not for everyone I suppose but honestly I could get lots of use out of this for the more bizarre stuff I seem to be leaning towards

Well,it would work for you.![;) ;)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
wow don't know how I missed this , thanks for the tip
I'll probably pick this one up eventually but thanks for the reminder of echo pitch. I had it but had never used it yet, just had a quick go and I like it a lot. Although it could do with Link.
Hey, I got my full refund! Except, it will take up to 10 days. This is corporate bollocks.
It doesn't take more than seconds to switch cash around digitally. But imagine the global tally of those requesting refunds each day. If the cash can stay in the system for a few days, Apple trousers the interest. Sharing that with customers, of course, ain't gonna happen.
App updated - I did a sound check...
And, to be fair, Apple didn't take 10 days, and have already credited my account.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
BTW, sample above sounds like the Klangers lost in fog!
The update was about some tempo fix, did you noticed any difference to the sound ?
Hoping @VirSyn could jump here (despite some negative reviews here
) ... Mostly interested if they plan adding a 'free' (no pitch tracking) algorithm. (I don't use vocals much)
Ha, that's my genre![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Hehe, then the app could be used for 'Auto-Tune'
(Ie. the incoming sound would be 'transposed' to a pitch set with the keyboard).

Soup Dragon ahoy.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Anyone tried it on electric guitar or GeoShred??! Anybaudio samples????
I recorded a jam with electric guitar, and I did record the result - but didn't post it as I thought I'd leave it to others to add their feedback as I've already added my £6.99's worth. Suffice to say it wasn't great.
It's almost ready for auto tuning as is , since it already detects pitch![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Edit: I saw a video of another VirSyn app , Harmony Voice. It seems similar, I wonder why they did not merge them in one app....
(Skipping most of this thread...)
Does sound intriguing. The two things which really get me interested are the MIDI Learn for shift (which could allow for the rotating chords you’ve all heard me talk about way too frequently) and the formant correction, which could really make a difference with voice.
But my approach to the first thing tends to be through MIDI itself and voice isn’t a big part of my musicking (bottoms up, @oat_phipps!).
Still, it does sound pretty neat, at times.
The > @Korakios said:
The autotune in harmony voice is very good.
Good demo Doug, gives prospective buyers an idea of the kind of "character" that is imparted on the harmony parts.
I'm calling it character because I think, as you say, it could have a use as an effect if you're into that kind of thing.
For others looking for a more pure sound I can see why it may be a disappointment.
New update just hit the App Store:
Optional pitch shifting algorithm suited for polyphonic sounds.
AUv3 parameters enabled.
I've only run vocals through this, but will be very interested to see feedback on this latest update from the folks who deemed the app a fail.
Too late, I binned it and got a refund. If they'd said they were going to provide a fix for the audio quality and support polyphonic sounds (they didn't), then I'd hung on and given it another go.
Conversely I've just listed one of their other apps, Reslice, as one of my favourite apps so far this year.
