A challenge.....3 apps...60 mins

Make a tune...in the equivalent of a lunchtime...

1 hour to make a tune...go for it. 3 apps max....and be able to upload to SoundCloud at the end of the 60 mins.

This is an exercise to see what apps you can use easily knowing that time is short....which apps provide ideas or inspire you quickly.

Apps to move audio from one place to another are allowed for free....but if you do anything with the audio in those apps they must be counted..... e.g if you trim a file in AS then you must count AS as one of your apps.

AUM/AB/ModStep can be used for free but MUST be counted if they are providing any processing on or creation of audio or MIDI (anything other than Audio/MIDI from A to B untouched), whether it be multiple channels to 1, hosting FX, or playing or recording audio.

And just to confirm, the upload to SC is free....

When you post, please include what your apps were, and why...including the ones allowed for free :)

  • Quite easy for me, most of my tracks take about 5 minutes. Sounds like it too...

    .

  • Too late to the party, but I like the idea. And it's dinner time back here in Texas anyways. I do have a countdown stopwatch app however and when the rest succumb to the jetlag later I might give it a 60 minute go.

  • Will do this when I get the opportunity tonight or tomorrow afternoon

  • I'm down. Just give me a couple years to start.

  • Yeah, so lunchtime on Monday? Hope I remember....

  • @AndyPlankton herewith:

    Three Blind Mice (Peckerwood)

Definition of fast and sloppy and it took me closer to 90 minutes and it's unmixed/produced etc. Enough caveats? But might yet be the basis of an SOTMC entry for next month...main interest/motivation/learning curve was with the TTS Speech app (as will be heard) and then it all went downhill from there :)

The mice they come in many forms
But there are always three of them
    Blindness, hope and hatred
    And never if but when.

    Really enjoyed this.

  • Was 3:52 am for me when this thread was created D: btw. The limitation. Does gadget count as 1 app ?

  • I might post a variation of the challenge. Will record myself fiddling about for 1 hr. No app restriction. Cause I mostly work in modstep+Aum and that already is 2 apps before even loading a synth :(

Sorry, got distracted watching Radiohead on the telly. Bit hectic here today as there's a free festival in town and one of my favourite musicians is playing, but I'll see if I can whip something up in the next day or two.

I've been fixed on the telly too :). Royal blood was what inspired the 3 apps thing, they use Drums voice and bass, amazing.

It was mostly Thor. I'm in love with it all over again right now. Have been thinking about mongrels, cross-fertilization, and would love everything about the Thor thing but in the Alchemy framework....men and their impossible dreams...of course listening again to this in the cold (?) light of the Texas morning it sounds like a pickle, but I'm not sure I have the will (or the wiles) to go back and fix things. T'was ever thus.

    Ha ha. I won't!

Your track sounds like Beck by the way. I like it.

I like the kind of bell like synth sounds that are prominent at the end.

Man I need to make some time to make some music. Even just 90 minutes!
