A couple of loops, Soundfont Pro, Patterning, Yellofier, and 45 minutes
Been a long and fun day with the in laws in Houston. Placed the 5 year to bed and stole a few moments (45 to be exact) to compose this sprawling expanding hypnotic piece:
Used
Modstep
Ripplemaker
Mood
AUM
Patterning
And the new AudioDamage AU fox EOS and Grind
Setting this challenge has made me realise one thing, how difficult it is to get get an hour to do what you want, when you want...
I find (me, me, me) the truth is an hour is hard to find, at least in its premeditated and uninterrupted form, but that sometimes the time goes by successfully when one least expects it and, on reflection, one hopes the best was made of it...
Hardest part for me is keeping it simple. Three apps... its tough... even AB counts!
well. i've tried and failed to do this challenge. i cannot use less than 8 apps. just not possible.![:/ :/](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/confused.png)
Modstep+Aum already uses 2. zmors for my euclidean sequencer is a 3rd. and that's before any sound modules.
add in (synth app 1) (synth app 2) (effect app 1) (effect app 2) (blocs for timestreaching audio) and thats 8.
so i respectively withdraw from this challenge
It's definitely tricky....but entirely worth it i think...it is making me look at my apps to see which I can be creative with quickly, which ones inspire me, and which limitations in apps I can work around without needing another app to do so.
What I am also finding interesting is that there haven't been any, I did this with one app entries from Gadget/Cubasis/Auria/KRFT/FLM etc....those apps that offer all-in-one. Is that because they don't necessarily inspire ideas ?
I feel naked sharing things made without at least a half dozen apps but Cubasis, Patterning and Addictive Pro will probably contain my yearnings/excuses. Plenty of great synth preset action with near insta-drums. All right... to the train!
Challenge accepted! Very interesting! Will try to do something in less than an hour using only Auria and Garageband! Let’s see if an idea comes.
Cool![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Here!
LIke it![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
What did you use ? did you stick to Auria and Garageband ? Is that a GarageBand or real guitar ?
The guitar and the bass are real instruments, recorded during the Auria phase. Since the stated rules didn’t explicitly forbade it, I went for it.
The synth lead and pad is Garageband Alchemy, and the drum sounds were done using Auria’s Lyra.
Nice !!![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
I did contemplate counting a real instrument as one of the apps...but as the idea for this was to make us think specifically about apps and their individual role in our workflows I thought I'd leave it open. As long as the app you use to record the instrument is counted
It is the same reason I haven't specifically forbidden pre-made loops.
@AndyPlankton Well. If you count gadget as a single app technically Aum+Aux plugins is a single app as well. If those limits are agreed to I could probably live with Aum+modstep+(random third app)
Yes, if it is the plugins included with AUM thats fine![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
The only thing stopping me here is the three app limit. As someone who loads up everything, then presses record, this is the most difficult bit...
Keep trying, you'll get something.....think about what each app is doing, is it absolutely necessary or just fluff ? Does it really make that much difference to the output that you cannot do without it ? Is the app doing something YOU could do instead ? Can you make something simpler but just as effective ?
I literally meant plugins not included in Aum lol. Just Au. I'll do the challenge regardless. Even if it means I'm disqualified for using multiple brambos plugs
but we'll see when I get an hr lol. This weekend is pretty hectic for me.
There is no judging or disqualification.....it is an exercise, use that exercise how you want![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
I can log on to soundcloud fine with its own app (which stunningly/not surpringly) doesn't allow uploading) but Audioshare and Cubasis refuse to connect saying invalid credentials... but like I say, the soundcloud app accepts them.
Anyway, here is Cubasis, Addictive Pro, Patterning

Kind of a sleuthy, scoobeedoo thing, or something.
Fun. Great call on Scooby.
Maybe something with your credentials...unless its something they just fixed..soundcloud working for me from AS.
Liking the tune
right up my street that....one question....did you catch that cat in the end ![:D :D](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
Thanks, the cat turned out to be Old Man Griffin![:( :(](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/frowning.png)
He almost got away with it too if it wasn't for you meddling kids!
doh! Just started a new one and it was going great, till I broke the app limit by using audio copy... this will be much easier when apps come on board with ios11 Files.
Could we have an Audiobus, Audioshare, Audio Copy exemption rule?
Sounds like fun! As what Audiogus said, can Audioshare and other "utility" apps that don't generate sound on their own be exempt from the 3-apps limitation?
Hmmm, I did think about this a lot when I set the original challenge, apps that are infrastructure....I figured there would be too many caveats to make it workable....
e.g you could use AB3 for 'free' but each node must count as an app ....
No recording or trimming of audio in Audioshare otherwise it counts as an app...
Then you would get people asking can I use Modstep to route midi between devices/apps for free ?
do you see what i mean ? It seemed easier to just say 3 apps....
What do you all think ?
