Could we have an Audiobus, Audioshare, Audio Copy exemption rule?

Hmmm, I did think about this a lot when I set the original challenge, apps that are infrastructure....I figured there would be too many caveats to make it workable....
e.g you could use AB3 for 'free' but each node must count as an app ....
No recording or trimming of audio in Audioshare otherwise it counts as an app...
Then you would get people asking can I use Modstep to route midi between devices/apps for free ?

do you see what i mean ? It seemed easier to just say 3 apps....

What do you all think ?

    Never explain, never complain :)

Hehe yah it is tricky to define... I think 'transporting a sound file from one app to another by any means, not audibly effecting or processing the audio content' should be OK.

I used Cubasis/TC11/Egoist for this track. My intention was to make noises and burbles in TC11 and Cubasis and feed them into Egoist to record back into Cubasis but lo and behold I could not send anything to Egoist directly so the slicer was never used, only the drums. What a waste of Egoist! :)

Mission accomplished. And if you think I pick this illustrative rubbish out at random, think again. Play the track and watch George keep time.... :)

Indeed, I agree though nice and quirky :)

  • Dammit I can record in csSpectral but I can only export to dropbox or audiocopy...

Hehe, i feel the subintention of this challenge is to build appreciation for the Files app when It arrives. Oh wait... thats an app! dammit!

Lolol. :D You and your random memes mate. That's good entertainment. Random thought - we gotta collab on ambient again soon in the future.

Meantime, I can't wait to get back home to do this challenge! I plan my three apps to be the following....

    -Beathawk as an AU
    -Poison 202 as an AU
-A host app that already has 3 Diablo House packs tossed in there. (Bet you can't guess which host app. ;) )

  • Here's a piece composed in Groovebox and recorded into AUM. Made while watching my son and nephew horse around in the pool:

Fwiw, a little bit of randomly generated notes and live playing and modulating.

  • I love the idea of this challenge, and I'll try to join in. I usually don't get too complicated with a number of apps. This may be in my wheelhouse.

Somewhat related, this challenge reminds me of this video series: Against The Clock, where musicians have 10 minutes to completely write a track. Very entertaining!

  • Had an hour spare tonight, but the fireworks display _didn't _. Listened back and on the vocal (ha) track, discovered a natural 'Up Yours' to the challenge. A rhythm section... kinda.

Guitarism + AmpliTube + Cubasis + Mic + Stolen Songs (ish). Thirty minutes to learn the three chords (badly). Forty to play and voice (very badly). Failed the challenge, but had an hour and a bit of fun. Thanks Andy. :)

I'm getting a lot of use from Groovebox at the moment.

Cool stuff....glad you enjoyed doing it :)

  • Pardon if I missed someone asking this already, but what if one uses Gadget which has... well... everything?

Something unrelentingly sweet about that :) With unrelenting being the key word. I sometimes wonder if you aren't the unknown offspring of Phil The Larkin....would make all kinds of sense you know....

    GAdget counts as 1 app

Here's mine. Row, Row, Row Your Boat sung by robots from iDS-10, into AudioShare (via Dropbox in both apps), then into LaunchPad for rounding it up (in stereo).

EDIT: I did not use a Dropbox or SoundCloud app (and do not have either installed on my iPad) so this was created, transferred, and uploaded entirely within iDS-10, AudioShare and LaunchPad.

Oh man, I love it! Sounds like something you would hear in Machinarium.

Unfortunately that is four apps... but personally I think simple file transfers should be free.

  • Finally done something in the time I allowed...
    20 mins Groovebox
    20 mins wave..
    Then recorded both into aum.

Nice! Great vibe. What is 20 mins wave? BLocs wave?

  • Just thought of a loophole... you didnt specify iOS...

No, I used iDS-10, Audioshare and Launchpad only. Dropbox is internal to both iDS-10 and Audioshare and I, in fact, do not have the Dropbox app on my iPad. Likewise, I do not have the SoundCloud app and uploading to SC was from within LaunchPad.
