  • @touchconspiracy2017 Bit of a jungle sound? Can hear this going down well in a club, very bouncy. Polished production with excellent sounds, I really like the reverse bits.
Not my genre, but enjoyed it.

@Shaken&;Stirred Nice bit of slide guitar :) I like the spoken word type vocals, reminds me of something that I can't quite put my finger on. Production is really good, but I feel the chorus could do with being a bit heavier musically? The drums also feel a bit limp in that part.
    Great job though.

Hey @DefRobot thanks for the constructive criticism. That bit about the chorus is something I need to work on, so I appreciate you calling it out. For some reason I have trouble getting the 808 type stuff to sound huge. I had the same issue with another song on my SoundCloud called "Gravity ". I ended up replacing the drums in the chorus with more traditional "live drum" vibe using Drum Session, and that brought it to life. Maybe I should try giving this track the same treatment. Cheers!

@fattigman I like the way you have got family involved.

Thank you for the positive feedback. I was happy my daughter agreed to sing. She was a bit sceptic about singing but I asked her to just try and then she enjoyed it. I had a great time involving my family with both the song and the video. Thanks again.

  • This is my song called “Dream”. I’m blending my music hobby with my current university studies of Chinese. So I snuck in some Spoken Chinese. Also used the Pipa in GarageBand to add a touch of traditional to the track.

@rickwaugh Reminded me in some ways of Linkin Park, but then the keyboards are quite Tangerine Dream. Nice mix.
Wasn't keen on the bass hum sound and feel it could be developed more as a song, but impressed with the playing and production.

Thanks, @DefRobot. I'm happy you liked the production for the most part. I'm making progress. B)

David, really nice production. Voice is fantastic, song moves really nicely. I don't know about the spoken Chinese, I'm not sure it adds anything to the track at all. More like it feels like it was just tossed in there to be different, as the subject and feel of the song have nothing to do with China or the Chinese language.

  • @trackedout, the song itself was good, but I found that whatever effect you applied to much of it, phase/chorus, whatever that was, made it almost unlistenable for me. I just could not get focused on the vocals, lyrics, beat. As I said the song seemed more than decent, and the production, aside from the aforementioned.

  • @fattigman, went back and listened again, and watched the video this time - first time through, I just listened to the music, as I wanted to evaluate that by itself. Very enjoyable. Your daughter did do really well there. I enjoyed it even more this time around, and the video with your family made it even more so. Production is definitely very good on this. I'm not a big fan of rap, hence my original comment on it not being my cup of tea, but on the second time around, it worked for me; I like it better as you've done it, where it's mixed in with regular vocals.

Thanks @rickwaugh for your positive feedback. I usually don't do rap music, but this time I wanted to try something different for me. It was definitely lots of fun involving my family with the making of this song. Thanks! :)

Thanks for the feedback! and yes the Chinese was added just so I say that I did :D I’ll try to make it less obvious next time

I listened to this the other day on youtube and I really like it.
Sounds very professional, very nice effects on the voice.
I like the chinese thing, it grabbed my attention and made me want to listen to the song.
I speak vietnamese, maybe I should try some vietnamese in my next song ;)

I have been writing tons for my composition teacher, but it's just writing, not finished work. I have finally completed a piece, and, glory be, will have one for next month as well. I published this in creations, but would love to get comments from the regulars here who didn't see it. My first dip of the toe into Electronica waters. I wrote this all in standard notation in Notion, including the percussion, exported it as midi, and imported it into Auria. Then applied sounds and filters. Some sounds from Fabfilter 1 and 2, some from Beathawk, and liberal amounts of various plugins, mostly Fabfilter, applied. I love how they work on the electronic sounds. I very much enjoyed this; not having to play my twisted creations certainly makes it easier to finish them. B) It's called Waltz of the Machines because it's metal and harsh, and in 3/4.

I’m amazed that this was birthed in Notion! It’s fabulous.

After getting jaded with the long process of making my last entry, I decided to give myself a task for this month.
I had to write, record, mix and master the song within a week to keep it fresh.
I recorded it entirely in Cubasis. A kick from Patterning, the rest of the drums from inside Cubasis.
Live Bass guitar with some slight sequenced bass under and a sprinkle of Gadget.
Guitar is played through Bias FX.
Vocals have some Virsyn Reverb on the leads. Mors eq is on vox too.

  • Very good alternative rock song, @DefRobot! Nice guitar tone, congrats!

  • @realdavidai, cannot say anything about your Chinese speaking abilities, but the song is very creative, very good! Congrats! Very clever usage of GB’s built-in Chinese instruments, by the way!

@realdavidai - Great job, I liked this, and don't have much to add to what others have said - excellent production, great vocals, and I liked the Chinese, I thought it added interest to the track. thanks for sharing.

What did you produce this on? The Autotune effect sounds great, and I can't imagine anything on iOS being able to do that yet. (maybe I'm not using some of the tools available on iOS correctly.)

this was great @DefRobot ! this is the kind of stuff I typically listen to, and this holds up well to what's out there. I really like the vocal production, and the mix sounds kinda minimal (in a good way) but there is enough going on, added throughout the song to keep it interesting. For example, the laser gun thing, it's subtle and not over used, and adds interest. the musical break with dual guitar lines was very tasteful as well. I probably would have tried to keep this closer to 4 minutes or under, if it was mine, but that's just me. thanks for sharing.

Thanks!! So the GarageBand update in January added an effect called “Extreme Tune” it took me a few months to figure out that it uses the pitch of the project settings to work. (It doesn’t have its own pitch setting) after discovering that (and Alchemy) I just decided to start doing all my music experiments in GB. And then “Mastering” in Final Touch.

Hopefully they will update it further to allow for AU based reverb (In the future I would like to use EOS 2 instead of the GB reverb)

If BM3 has a similar Extreme Tune effect I’ll switch to that.

This is my entry for this month. It's created with Rytmik Ultimate, Voxyn and Cubasis. The video was created with Lumafusion.

Love the energy of this. Fun video and well done for roping The Talent in. Some really nice harmonies hiding away here in the madness :)

Here is my first submission to The Club. I have a goal to complete/share one track a month here, to get past the "never finishing anything" habit. All input appreciated!

    "Falling Up Stairs"
Born from a couple of "Discovers" and tweaks in Blocs Wave
Moved waves to Gadget for more work
Then to Auria Pro for more production and mixing
And finally to Audio Mastering for mastering
    Also used, among others:

    • DM1
    • Fabfilter Saturn
    • Tonestack

You're in the right place if you're trying to get past the 'incompletion' syndrome. Love the smoky slide. An interesting melange/collision of styles in this tune.

  • @theconnactic I love your performance videos! Makes the whole thing cooler.
Very clear production again. Like a soundtrack piece and it's good where it sort of descends - very technical. Great playing and sounds used and a DR-5!!
    Thanks for your comments too.

wow, GarageBand huh? I had no idea... I'm glad I asked! thanks!

  • @realdavidai Well, that's a very polished track! Could definitely hear this in the pop charts. Is it done purely within iOS? Good auto-tune effects. Great job, not much more to add to what others have said.

@Shaken&;Stirred Thanks for the very kind comments! I'm learning to keep clutter out of my mixes to help with clarity. Yeah, I couldn't cut any song time off, it's longer than my usual song length :#

Thanks JohnnyG, I appreciate the feedback... I tried to maintain consistency as those styles collide, hoping the mix of "works" and it's not too "all over the map". Cheers!

  • @trackedout Sorry, but it sounds like something has gone wrong with your upload to Soundcloud. It's phasing, clipping and distorting... The song sounded ok from what I could make out.
