@studs1966, that should have been released right around 1976. That is such classic disco. Is there still a market? Great tune, my one quibble, there is percussion at the beginning, which suddenly disappears. Then the drums come in. Just a little jarring. Other than that, super mix.k

Thanks matey....... I think Disco never really went away.......... It mutated to be House music......... Now dance music has run its course, & people have run out of ideas, this style is making a comeback.......... Now they are calling it........ "Nu Disco!".......... ;)

Interesting. Not wanting to sound like an old fart, but a lot of the EDM stuff middle daughter listens to is dull, and does sound like the ideas are gone.

So, breaking out the three piece white suit yet? :D

    :D
You not sounding like an old Fart, but at 52yrs that means "I AM AN OLD FART!'' .......... I totally agree with you........ EDM tunes that they are playing in the clubs, remind me of a "Rice Cake!".............. Tasteless!.......... :D

  • Hello everybody!
Some great tracks been posted here, when I'll have time, I'll try to comment on them in more detail.

I want to share one of my oldskool psy \ goa trance tracks.
Made it only with Korg Gadget recorded directly into Audioshare app.
    Thanks

First of all, a big thanks to SOTMC members who have helped me along with dipping my toe into Auria production. You know who you are ;)
I've felt like a bit of a newbie with Auria and Fabfilters, so thanks for all the help!
So here's my first Auria song 'Doing what's Right'. Sketched in Cubasis and GB but then pretty much totally re-recorded in Auria, which was quite a learning curve!

Yo Def, this was fun to listen to, nice tune. Reminds me a little of the 70's British glam, Mott the Hoople kind of stuff, but with modern production and instruments. It's a nice twist to it. The vocal melodies are very strong, and memorable. I can't say I loved the guitar sound, but that's a personal thing - there really is no right or wrong crunchy guitar sound. What did you use for the drums? Anyway, I liked it, and look forward to more.

@richardyot told me it's ok to post ukulele songs here, so here we go. The only iOS related with this song is that it's recorded with an iPad. No effects, no autotune, no nothing so it may sound a bit out of tune sometimes.

Love this! your vids always leave me with a smile on my face. Very nice tune, and sincere performance, and definitely no need for Autotune. Might have been a happy accident, but I like the way the sun is shining on half of your face while leaving the other half in the shadows. Next month I expect you to up your game combing the last two videos - ride your bike on the beach while singing and playing your uke! :)

very smooth production. I like some of the synth lines in there. If it were my production, I would have tried to add some deep bass at some point. I wanted to hear more low end, maybe when it comes back up around the 3 minute mark, to clobber the listener with some big low end... but that's just my creative input, worth what you paid for it. :)

This is cool. Great vibe. The singers vibrato reminded me of stevie wonder. Only listened on my iPhone not through proper monitors so can't comment on the mix, but on the iPhone it sounds cool !
Would have liked a cut down version. More power in less is more.
Is the instrumentation real? Or synthesised / samples ? Who's the vocalist ?

  • @DefRobot I like your song. I like that the song takes unpredicted directions to return to the main path. Don't know how to say it in english, but I hope you understand what I mean. I would like to hear a little more of the synth sound (I guess it's a synth) in the background I thought that was pretty cool.

The vocals I got from a web site... https://freevocals.com/ His name is Kamden....Yes he does sing like Mr Wonder.

Some were samples, & midi(bit of both. Played around with the samples I used, then jammed with it) I had to sequence in Ableton, now as my Air 1 is not good enough anymore,(in the way I work sadly).... CPU comes to a bring halt, even when all tracks are frozen.

This one started in Gadget (Recife, Chicago, Fireenze, Darwin, Dublin and Rosario), then moved to Auria. The new Kaspar synth and Launchpad make appearance in the bridge. I'm currently moving away from starting tracks in Gadget to using BM3 for next month's track.

@Shaken&;Stirred this is very good, the energy and the melody I like it all. I can not critic anything. I think you have a special and uniq style and I really like it.

I wish I was living by the beach in a warm country, then I would definitely try do a video like that

thank you @fattigman your comment about having a "special and unique style" is very meaningful to me, I appreciate it. cheers!

  • @moff, intense little tune. I love the way you keep changing the texture and pace of the song, keeps the interest going. Lovely mix. Got no nits about this piece, anywhere.

  • Here’s my entry for this month. Going to post my reviews soon.

Very nice piece. Lots of guitar parts going on there, and you have spaced them out so there is room for all of them, and they can all be heard. Nice mix, great playing, and it very melodic. good work!

  • @theconnactic, nice. Love the restraint in the soloing, and the tone. love the break to the nylon.

  • Still early I guess...

  • The pressure is good. Can't weasel out, gotta have something to show by the end of the month.

  • >

    Still early I guess...

    Musically or lyrically (or both)

  • Fwor Feisty Fret Females. Fitness. Fun. Fucking around.

Ah, just in time boss. With new members joining The Club every hour, The Gaffer is concerned there won't be enough room in our Hot Tub for us ALL to sit comfortably without him needing to perform his violent shoehorning technique (deadly). To that end, and I quote:
"We HAVE to slice fat Bluepunk, (if I could add: slowly and with excruciating pain) from our Bulging Blubber Bunkers. Sort it out now lowlife." Alrighty.

  • @Bluepunk I had a little dance around the office to that one. Who's the band? I really like the tune.

Never lyrically. Always musically. The guy with the stubby pencil just sits there laughing at the guy with the Stylophone shouting all the while useless lame sack of slow shit...

I'm the other way. Music just pours out. The words are a grind.

Good. L7 (that's what it says on the Summon anyway). Top dance song. :)

yeah, I'm like this too, but it hasn't been as bad since I started working with my wife, who writes well. We often sit in a coffee shop passing the iPad back and forth each adding a stanza or two... ya never know where it's gonna go. I often end up doing a lot of editing and re-working, but it's getting the ideas flowing that's the hard part (for me).

I remember L7, contemporaries of Nirvana et al. I don't remember them as being this good though, should check them out again. L7 is slang for square, as in being a square, you make the shape L7 with your hands to signify someone is such. Doesn't apply to you obviously.

  • Well Bluey,
I'm feeling much fitter, honoured to get a mention in one of your videos and a little bit filthy after that. Keep up the good work my friend!

  • @Bluepunk Holy shit.

What's amazing is that I didn't bat an eyelid at the lipstick or the fishnets (I went to Public School after all), but the bit with the knees, all that easy bending up and down, made me wince with jealousy. Those days (and knees) are long gone....

Genuinely funny. I feel as though you've found your calling, by accident or otherwise, and mostly because you're obviously having a ton of fun with it. Lucky bugger.
