ModStep may well work for this workaround too.
Oooops sorry your right, insufficient coffee this morning ....
We made a quick demo of Groovebox MIDI In, in use alongside Launchpad. It gives an idea of whats possible.
Much as I like diving deep into MIDI settings and getting into the nitty gritty there is much to be praised for just being able to plug a controller in and playing what you see without fuss.
Onto a winner here, keep the default "plug and play" aspects for the more general market and maybe expand out the complexity for us geeks.
Vids like this might sell a few more Launchkey Minis too, love mine, "it just works".
I can confirm that MIDI in works fine with iRig Keys Pro. Thanks devs
Awesome vid guys....shows just one way in which these apps are so powerful and simple at the same time.
Nope
Oh cool! I hadn't really taken to Groovebox yet, but this inspires me to maybe pick up a couple IAPs for this app. I'm assuming that I could do this same thing via bluetooth with my nanoKEY studio? Not the talent part
just the setup.
It does have Bluetooth MIDI support so you should be able to...
Really cool video guys!
Yeah the single midi really bummed me out! As I was trying to use The Bass and Poly 8 modules together but couldn't figure out why the sounded died out till I realized one had to be in the active module to hear and play it via midi.
Us geeks this is usually standard issue on any pro music app nowadays but hopefully that gets ironed out soon before you guys put out the Acoustic modules!

Anybody got any programming tips for the Poly-8? Near as I can tell, you almost always want the oscillators synced, so as to use the pitch modulation for cool textures, but I'm curious how others have been getting cool sounds out of it. The Retrobass is fairly straightforward
Not always though. Unsynced can add brightness to a punchy mid/bass sound without muddying it or adding unwanted harmonics. LFO->Pitch on the oscillator B page need to be close to zero though. Let’s see if I can share a loop...

Sorry if that splits eardrums. It sounds okay on my iPad speakers.
MIDI note in working with my Alesis Q25 ..but no pitch bend, mod wheel or volume control.
When Gadget first came out it had a similar Omni midi thing happening, but at least those three midi messages worked as well.
Hopefully @AmpifyxNovation are onto it and are going to implement a full midi spec with channels and mappable cc for each instrument. The argument that it makes it easier for beginners etc is a bit naff considering the time I spent as a midi newbi in the 80s having to wade my way through the midi charts of multiple instruments trying to fathom wtf each one meant....
One another aspect of Groovebox that is problematic for me is that it auditions a sound as soon as you select a new instrument. I wish this could be turned off as it doesn't gel with my workflow.
Otherwise, a great app with awesome sounding synths.
Is there an 'everything' IAP for the instrument controls are do you have to purchase each separately?
You sure you want to buy synth controls to make patches that can't be saved?
Just to clarify, they are saved with the pattern, they just can’t be saved independent of the pattern. Not ideal, but still totally worth the IAP (to me).
After awhile I've come to realise that groovebox is just a looper and will likely stay that way.
They promised scenes and they are not here and after awhile you realise that despite its nice sounds, poly synth is very limited and runs out of freshness quite quick
Users would ( as in blocs Waves) depend on constant iap sound packs to keep themselves using the app, which is novations strategy of course.
If u don't believe me, go and see just how many iap there is for launchpad
If novation read this, you need to understand that we will only support apps long term if they are updated faster upon initial release. And with deeper features.
I'd like to see more instruments in this app not sound packs
Indeed we do. We can certainly confirm that we will add some cool new features in the future that we hope you will like.
Poly 8 keeps surprising me with the sounds I'm making despite its limited appearance, so they did that right. But what is important is a scene mode. It gets very messy constantly duplicating projects. And of course automation-of the knob movement recording variety. But scenes first if we have to go one thing at a time.
@AmpifyxNovation would be nice to add saving of user patches.
Yes
Excellent. We can confirm that we hope we like them too
