Interesting approach and ready to buy, love this kind of toy based apps! :)
But the big question for me: what can it do more than Triggler and Yellofier of which I see some similarties.

Haven't got Triggler, but Yellofier doesn't have a proper timeline editor like this one.

Neither does Triggler. The timeline is a key differentiator for Samplebot--not locked into a step sequencer.

Yep, the timeline editor works well too, just been mucking about with some imaschine samples recorded in via Audiobus.

I'm going to have a lot of fun with this one.

  • Yay! Be sure to share your creations! I’ve only seen one or two bits from other people so far, itching to see what people do with it (to use an uncomfortably over-used Apple trope =))

'tuning' per step would be super too :)

Tuning, envelope, filter... All that stuff would be nice :)

  • downloading now
great seeing you so excited about this one Michael :)

    Thanks!
    Just bought it. Curious :)

btw Triggler is also a fun app, the only thing missing is that you can't record your effects

I had a much-needed beer, and on 4 hours of sleep and not much food, I found myself giggling uncontrollably at the Hitting Things one. Bit of a bad sign when you start making yourself laugh...

I beg to differ. Giggling uncontrollably while hitting things and making yourself laugh is the very best sign of all, that you’re doing it right.

  • The bonus of this app for me is that it works on the phone - so perfect for wandering around with and sampling random noises.

I thought this would be just my cup of tea, but it's the whole teapot.

  • Twas just in my kitchen banging on a bit of glass, a bit of metal. Got out the spoons and gave em a shake. Good fun!

  • Thank you so much for including iPhone support.

I can't wait to show this to my kids! I see Sir Sampleton and Samplebot jams in their future!

  • This app is already one of my top favorite sampler/looper apps. Quick and easy sampling, easy to use sequencer, quick and easy import/export. Love it!

  • ooh been waiting for this... does it have panning?

  • Awesome to hear, guys – really glad you’re digging it! (“I thought this would be just my cup of tea, but it's the whole teapot.” – <3 =D)

  • Can't wait to see what the updates will include!

A few neat suggestions would be to 'switch' the function of the pads to say toggle reverse on/off, adjust the pitch.
Thinking about something in the lines of the Volca Sample :)

    Really dig this one! :)
The timeline on iPhone just to small for my fingers. Maybe a pinch to zoom function would be great. Some other suggestions, the possibilty to pitch and time stretch samples would also be nice and would differentiate it even more for are on the eye similar apps.

  • Cheers @mannix - hmm, pinch to zoom not working for you?

Ahhh, seem to have missed that function
See it's only horizontal, or do I miss more. Anyway it's workable now :)

  • Ah good. Yup just horizontal

  • Did someone say robo-boogie?

    Congrats on the release, Michael.

  • Hey sexy momma, wanna kill all humans?

  • I’m enjoying the app as it is, but since future feature suggestions are being tossed into the pot, here are mine:

Most useful for me would be a bit of simple envelope editing, so I can avoid any clicks and smooth off the ends of samples. It’d also be great to be able to change pitch of individual blocks in the timeline. That way I could put together a whole track by changing the key in sections on the timeline.

For me though, the apparent simplicity of the app is the reason why I’ll use it more than say, BM3. Simple, but with hidden depths. Uncluttered, but fully functional. So maybe a few little tweaks but nothing too drastic, to keep the character and fun elements intact.

  • Thanks, @MonzoPro! Cool, I'll put it on my list, alongside the pitch/etc stuff.

  • @Michael said:
You can definitely already share the mixdown audio to other apps, including AudioShare. I’ll be adding individual pad export soon too.

YES YES and YES to exporting individual pads, I bought it earlier and was wishing I could do that!!! Exporting individual pads and maybe after that exporting individual tracks from the sequence, if its doable :)

  • A delightful paragraph from an Ask Audio piece...

“I’ve always loved finding ways to make music fun and immediate, to encourage creativity without having to wrestle with complex tools,” said A Tasty Pixel director and developer Michael Tyson. “Samplebot’s just good fun to play with. During development I was entertaining our 7-month-old little boy, recording and playing back his squeaky teether toy. I made a little song right there, out of the stuff around us: That’s the kind of experience I strive for.”

As mentioned by others, would LUV to see a pitch/tune/reverse per pad.

    Wonderful on many levels!

  • My favourite moment was when my wife showed me a saved session from when she’d been playing with it with him, and every pad was filled with his giggles and delighted squeals. Ermagerd.

Gold! Be sure to make a copy. You'll need it when he's a teen-ager.

  • Yeah, saved forever!
