  • @JMSexton, no idea really, no clue on twitter or the blog as to the reason of the sale.

@thesoundtestroom Could you point me to some more presets? I have a feeling I won't be making many myself with this one..

Edit: Found a forum electro music something that had a bunch of user presets, I googled patches presets for tc-11, that´ll lead u to a kvr thread that takes you that forum

@ChrisG that would be the difference US vs Sweden :)

  • This is a preset only app for me, need to spend more time noodling on every modular function and that's a rabbit hole
But the presets are really awesome
I wish there were some more easy ways to get scales out if the box ...the sequencer is a bit deep and complex
Maybe a simpler chord and scale selection applied to the seq would make it more playable and jam able with other instruments as soon as you open it.... Also a inbuilt sampler or granular option would be cool with the lovely performance interface!!

Somebody create more awesome patches for this please !!!!

  • @ChrisG yeah thats the one I found, some guy made a stack, then seemed to get a bit pissed off because no one else was posting presets, then the dev got involved and posted some, so there are a few on there now, and they are quite good..

  • @ChrisG Can you post that link? Thanks

    Here's the link: http://electro-music.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=53632&sid=93c4307c8417cf28c340a63b77373220

Although tc11 supports "open in", I found it much easier just to download it all on the computer and use iTunes filesharing, simply cos there are so many of em.

I gotta say that the app is near impossible to use due to the auto-translate to Swedish thing, nothing makes any sense lol. Please bit-shape, remove it (back to English, it is our second language after all) ASAP so I can start making some presets. :)

  • I've heard nothing but amazing reviews for this synth, so i REALLY wanna jump in now that it's on sale. That said, how is the workflow on it? Doesn't seem like there's any keyboard interface, so are you able to select (and work in) a particular key/scale?

Also, no MIDI capability, right? That's a bummer but probably not a deal-breaker.

  • @ChrisG Thanks. You're right there are a lot. Wish they had a star rating or something.

  • @phil999 - It has a little mini-screen that pulls out in the patch editor so you can hear your edits immediately without having to exit to the perform screen. Makes tweaking parameters a lot easier.

  • What's TC-Data?

  • Hi all - Bit Shape here. I'm happy to answer any questions!

Re: terrible translation, there is an option in the Settings >> General to use English. You then have to quit and restart the app and it will change. I know the translations are bad (looking into it!). Some users have helped me out with the text in the past, but I'll be hiring out the work in the future.

MIDI may enter into TC-11 in an update, but if it does, it will be as another controller to use in addition to all the crazy touch controllers (more control!). What it probably won't do is suddenly make it a standard 12-key synth.

Another app, TC-Data, is in the works to use strictly as a MIDI and OSC controller. It's an all new programming interface focused on that goal, and has an entirely different backend. Still lots of work left for me.

I'm just one guy here with a ton to do. Someone mentioned adding a granular synth. Don't worry - I've been desperate to add one in for a long time now...

@BitShapeSoft, what is the original language? German? I do Deutsch-Englisch translation professionally, and I'd make a VERY special deal for you!

  • @BitShapeSoft - thanks for all the information! I love devs that take time to answer user questions.

So no MIDI out at this time, but can TC-11 accept incoming MIDI via another app (ex: TNR-i)? I love your interface, but i'm just looking for more control and sequencing if possible.

  • @BitShapeSoft a Thanks for checking in.

  • @BitShapeSoft - looking forward to updates. TC-11 is a great concept and implementation!

@BitShapeSoft Thanks. I can't find anything under setting that'll switch language tho. I double tap on the settings icon, chose settings, under general I can reorder the presets by name or date (I think that's what it says), change the polyphony and the last one is for background audio on/off.

Also checked the other things available under settings (colors page, a page with a long list of parameters that I guess changes what'll be visible on screen etc, a help page and the about page).

Edit: Unless you meant changing language under iOS settings, that works, but it changes the language system wide though.

Edit: by the way, no translation is really necessary for people in Sweden. I think that even if the translation was properly done it would still just be confusing since every musician uses English terms, it's all in English wether it's software plugins, daws, or hardware synths/units etc

  • ChrisG, I just checked and you're right - the use English setting is not appearing for me either. Bug submitted and will be fixed shortly.

TC-11 is not built to receive standard MIDI messages. There is no such thing as a 'note on' event, for example. Its design is more like the early analog synths where you connect basic components together. This is intentional: once you have control over every piece of the signal flow, you can build crazy patches.

If you are interested in helping with your locale's translation, shoot me an email at bitshapesoftware[@]gmail.com

  • I melted my brain playing with TC-11 last night for 3 hours.

thank you smeeeth for the tip with the mini-playscreen. That's exactly what I need, to play while patching! It changes a lot, I take back everything I said about TC-11.

Must have been added in an update and I didn't realise it.

And about the new controller app in planning, there is already a controller app called Konkreet Performer. But I can imagine that TC-11's touch features could still be innovative as a pure controller. I'm interested.

  • TC11 just dethroned Garageband on the charts.

  • Wow, dethroned the mighty GB indeed!
It's funny because ,@BitSharpe is going to get all these support requests, feature requests and more ratings now !!!....after years of the main release !
I'm looking forward to some more new presets and tutorials now...

  • Whoa, what's this about charts? For real I don't follow that closely.

And yes I'm excited to get new users and feedback. Most of the features I've added came from user requests!

  • Oh wow! Top of the Music category! Thanks for letting me know!!!

@Bitsharpe, I just picked up TC11 at the discounted price. I don't get why people are considering it a "preset synth;" there is a ton of functionality under the hood!

  • @MountValleyMFR - It is precisely due to the "ton of functionality under the hood" that some people consider this a "preset synth". I look forward to delving into the unique programming abilities of this synth, but I can also understand why some people aren't.

Thanks for the presets link @chrisg. Anyone who has downloaded them all want to take one for the team, zip them up and post online? :)

  • Just downloaded this extremely deep app and wanted to thank the dev for offering a huge discount. Much appreciated.

This is a remarkable interface for the iPad. It is good for a change to get away from traditional instrument type GUI's. The skill for coding and sound design of this app is very apparent. Congrats on a well implemented app.

I had viewed several videos back when the app became available and was intrigued with the possibilities. However, it seemed to me that the type of sounds were not of that which would facilitate my type of music creation (which is traditional pop/rock type of music). Yeah, I'm an old fart. Ambient sounds and noize are not really my cup of tea so to speak.

I went through the presets and found a few that may be appropriate for my genre. I also downloaded/emailed (each individually)/opened in/ the user presets that were posted above and found several more that could be useful to me. Not knocking any of the preset creators as I do appreciate them sharing. I find that the current use of getting presets in is a bit of extra work but still useful nonetheless.

It wasn't until I came across the video called REMOVE SILENCE - Composing with TC-11 and DM1 that I felt there is a possibility that I might get use out of this app after all. IMO, there is a big difference between making odd sounds and making music that is pleasing to my ears. This video gave me hope. Please understand that I know many musicians have differing tastes and to each his/her own. I am very grateful that we are not exactly alike in our taste of music.

All that being said, I like the possibilities that this app provides. Looking forward to spending some time to get to know how to put it to my use.
