  • It’s Monzo Jnr’s birthday today, so after a day of screaming kids in the house, and another hour traipsing around the estate with his mates and their parents trick or treating, I’m in need of some soothing cheese.

  • it's amazing for what it is...what an omnichord wishes it was. and omnichords are pretty fun. made my halloween!

  • I wondered if Pea had a hand in this app being made, and sure enough. He owns the original masters and trademarks, so it's nice to see it's bringing some returns. Might mean more new custom disks coming our way. I can recommend some of those disks he's made for taking the medium in some interesting new directions. Haven't opened yet so I don't know if any of these are part of the IAP. Sure hope so, because the custom ones are fiddy buck a pop.

  • Ha...

This thread from June 2010 has a suggestion to create an iTouch app
Nice resource site for everything optigan.

  • If I didn't already slap down hard earned cash in the last couple of days, this would be up there for sheer-schlock value.

I'll just throw it on my iTunes Wish Li............

    oh yeah. :(

  • All disks will be loaded upside down! B)

    The funniest app evah

Does the app sound as warbly and kind of beautifully scratchy like the old demo video I posted?

Oh definitely. It’s a real quality app, Pea Hicks (who I just learned about researching the app, and whose name I love) and the Waldorf CEO are the ones who released it.

I do wish there was a hold function for the chord buttons, but other than that, it’s a delight.

There’s a setting for putting the buttons into radio mode. When activated they toggle.

  • For God's sake, will somebody post some kind of video so I can just spend some money?

  • I could not resist this and I have been the master of resisting for the past year. This is only the second music app I've bought in 2017. This app is not cheesy; it is cheese food producty! Like Cheez Wiz and Velveeta mixed together and sprayed on a slice of American Cheese (food product)!!

Bit disappointed there aren't simulated fag burns on the UI.

That would have been icing on the cake!

  • Hell yeh, downloading now on a painfully slow mobile connection.

I get stoked more for stuff like this than whatever is being shoe-horned into Gadget.

Nice! I love the Optigan. I still have sample disks around somewhere. Mostly because I totally fell in love with http://optigan.com/optiganally-yours/ back in the day.

    Full optiganology:

Though, their second record "Exclusively Talentmaker" is my fave.

  • @syrupcore wasn't the guy from pinback in optiganally yours? That is some good stuff!

  • Just made sum sick beatz by hosting in AUM with Replicant and FuzzPlus. Music was never so effortless!

  • cool stuff - enjoyed the vids a lot B) :+1:

  • Awesome but it crackles, iOS 11/Pro thing?

    ;)

    Almost got me. lol

  • So, thumbs up on this one? Or, temporary fix for $5 worth of fun that you’ll likely never use again? ;)

Alll kidding aside, I do think there is some pretty usable stuff here - lots that you can do with tempo and effects. Throw this in Moebius Lab - cheesiness solved and made stranger.

    Yep. Rob something or other

  • If you are into retro stuff, this is a MUST have. Just bought it tonight and it's a blast to play with. It's a great complement to Blues Street Brass (on the VI side) as well as the old Tron soundfonts that someone recently posted. Add an old fashioned microphone impulse response to the other sounds, and you can party like it's 1969!

If you are looking for something that has high sound quality (the sounds are authentic low fi samples), you shouldn't buy it, unless you want to spend $5 on a toy, but it's a fun toy. While the complete sound IAPs are $5.99, you can buy individual ones for $.99 each. I will try to upload a demo tomorrow or Friday.

  • From the videos I've seen, you could make some real groovy 1970's Porn Music..... "Yeah Baby!"..... ;)

Agree with all that, it’s a good sound source and unique, I don’t mind chucking some $ the dev’s way just for resurrecting it.

I probably won’t spring for all the IAPs but there’s a couple I might revisit once I’ve tried to work the others into a track or two.

  • It is at this point I feel compelled to post this, I have a Barry Morgan t-shirt ...

I would like to see added:
    Tempo sync
    Unofficial discs
    AB

    But mostly unofficial discs

  • By the way, does anyone know what MIDI chord detection 1 vs chord detection 2 in the setting screen does? How about MIDI RX vs MIDI TX?

    Gimme an h!

Great video, thank you. Anyone one know if that's a real live cut in there (original device audio->iOS app audio)?

I was wrong, I bought the full IAP, just had a blissful couple of hours just jamming away.

The slow blues stuff and “Movin’” is worth the price of admission alone.

    Scarlet Jerry

Chord detection has to do with using an external midi keyboard to work the app. Midi RX is receive midi. TX is transmit.
