  • If Novation has another one of their half price sales, I will upgrade most of the launchpad features and buy some new soundpacks for Launchpad and Blocs Wave.

If there are sales, I may pick up Addictive Pro and/or Poison-202. I have my eye out to add to my AU synth collection.

Last year Black Friday (Music) App sale started already a week earlier. What I recall nearly all devs had all or some of their apps on sale. I got the impression that the devs that put their apps on sale earlier than friday gained the most and had the biggest turnover. I hope for nice discounts on apps that are quite expensive and normally don't go on sale like AUM or LumaFusion.

Here's a link to the huge list of music apps that went on sale during Black Friday 2016
    http://ipadloops.com/black-friday-music-apps-on-sale/

I advise that you make your mind up what you want before the whole frenzy starts, otherwise you can end up buying a lot of apps you probably hardly use, because the temptation of big discounts is strong ;)

  • AUM, Anything by Wolfgang Palm.

  • I am hoping for some fabfilter sales. Would like to get this beautiful Pro R for Auria Pro. But 39$ is a bit of a stretch right now.

  • All I use is Auria anymore and I already have all the cool stuff avilable for it. I kinda want one of those Behringer Model D things.

  • A small iPhone with dual lenses and a headphone jack.

  • i've got enough apps.
unfortunately, my pot dealer refuses to acknowledge the black Friday sales

  • Analog Solutions Fusebox and Octatrack mkii

Wolfgang's apps never go on sale. Of course if they did I would be very happy...

I'm going all in with ios music making after dabbling so I plan on splurging about $150 worth of apps

-Every Audio Damage app minus Replicator (not into glitchy stuff so much). They've never gone on sale before so I'm just hoping they do.
    -Mersenne, Redshrike, Zeeon, iSEM, iM1
    -AUM
    -Cubasis2
-Dahlia Delay, AUFX4, Numerical Audio FX Bundle, FAC Chorus

  • There's a big Auxy update in the works. No one knows what's in the menu but it is said to be "big". Top rumor is sample/audio import. So hopefully that comes out soonish and I can drop some bucks

  • How do we feel about apps that never sale? The Palm apps, Peter Vogel CMI Pro and a few others.

On my wishlist are more AU effects, especially DDMFs collection and maybe Future Drummer.

I personally don't own it yet, but I would suggest BeatMaker 3. That seems to be a hot one around here on the forum, so take a look if you haven't already.

The Vogel Pro app is amazing if you want a piece of history, some great sounds, and you’re up for a pure emulation. Some may be turned off by it’s sequencer, but I absolutely love it and find it more productive than most modern ones.

And if you’re talkin Wolfgang Palm, the PPGs are probably the deepest synths available for iOS. That can either be a good thing if you don’t mind a manual, or a bad barrier to entry. I suggest Wavemapper first if you’re not beyond an intermediate level of synth programming. It’s not a difficulty thing with his apps, it’s a time thing, and a lot of very specific controls, especially for Infinite, are not intuitive without plodding through the manual.

So yeah, if you know what you’re getting in to with the CMI and the PPGs, and willing to get your hands dirty, then they’re well worth the non-sale price.

I thought I would dislike Replicant, I only bought it out of support upon release also because I’m ‘not into glitchy stuff so much’, but it can do some really subtle things to a drum, synth, or even guitar track that keeps it interesting. I think all the ADs are really quality with the exception of Axon, which is a nice idea executed clumsily (surprising considering the quality of the rest).

And I doubt they’ll go on sale, the dev’s pricing philosophy is 1/10th of the desktop version, so they’re already a steal.

I’m only saving you a dollar or two, but you won’t need Dahlia Delay if you get AD’s Dubstation. Best iOS delay outside of the Fabfilter.

  • Err...umm... I jumped the gun and got an iPad Pro 10.5" w 256GB for $675 at best buy
    I'm tapped out but happy.

  • I’m looking for a relatively simple DAW to use with my Digitakt, and BM3 looked sort of like a sampler-esque DAW...so maybe defeats the purpose of working with the Digitakt. I didn’t research it in depth because Cubasis 2 looks good enough for me. I did see you can do automation with BM3.

I probably don’t need Dahlia delay, but the price and the fact that it wants to be a tape delay emulation made me interested. Replicant I’ll reconsider for sure. My plan for Axom was only to use the drum synth sound generation features to sample, not the crazy looking built in sequencer.

I’m trying to stop my spending there but Moog apps, Nave, and LayR have given me GAS too.

Aufx dub has you covered for the tape delay, unless you just have to have an AU

I don't have BM3, but I can confirm that Cubasis is simultaneously very deep, complete, and relatively easy to learn. It has full automation too. Wait for the 50% off sale.

I love the two Moog synths, especially Model 15 which is very difficult to program but sounds better than any other ios synth I've heard. Fortunately there are plenty of great presets.

LayR is overrated IMO. It's superficially good but ultimately the tone is unsatisfying for my ears.

  • Thanks for the feedback

I use Cubasis as well instead of BM3, but Cubasis currently does not support any sort of AU automation. Hopefully in the next update it will arrive.

So Axon has the MIDI out bug still, but you may not be too concerned. But when I was trying to design sounds in it, it seemed buggy in that area as well. When I would adjust some controls there was no change to the sound, but if I touched a different control, the sound would change abruptly. Also sometimes the sound would be changing as I was adjusting a control, but still observed a major, abrupt change in the sound when I merely touched on another control. It made designing sound pretty frustrating, if not impossible. Not trying to say ANYTHING bad about AudioDamage, just trying to save you from the disappointment I experienced.

I love AD actually. I have nearly everything they have on offer, and it all works great. Except Axon for now. Hope the update arrives soon.

  • Maybe synthscaper, something from Mr. Palm or Brambos, Cubasis.

I guess that's the game we play with the devs, isn't it? If the Palm apps all went on a 50% off sale on BF I'd probably buy the lot. If they don't I may buy one more, but there'll probably be something else to grab my attention (I'm lookin at you, Odessa) coming along shortly.

  • I'd buy LOTS and LOTS of them if there was a benefit/Donation Day during that period to help Doug Woods!!

  • I respect your opinion re LayR but it’s one magnificent mega Synth! If you take time to explore all the sonic goodness in it you’ll be so amazed!

But to me it’s definitely top ten!

I find it very impressive. But I also find it difficult and non-intuitive to use. That wouldn't matter so much if it sounded good to me. But, like many other synths, its sound just doesn't satisfy me. It's a matter of taste.

Is there a way to sell an app that I own to someone else who would appreciate it more than I do? I wish.

    Good idea!

  • For those pining for Mr Palm's PPG apps... you may already know/have this but...
PPG Minimapper for iPhone works great on ipad and is about $4. Plus, it can do a couple things that Wavemapper can't easily do. Like moving more than one icon at a time, which is really cool for quickly morphing the sound. Strangely tho, you can control the icons in Wavemapper through MIDI by Minimapper and move multiple icons. For an iphone wavetable synth, only the awesome Animoog rivals it. And it is very different, of course. It is not AUv3 compatible, but the other PPG apps are all Audio Units. Once you're hooked, you'll want them all!

Also, Minimapper can do acceleramator/gyroscope and XY pad control. Bang for the buck factor is very high.

Invite him to your family sharing family - i don't see another way beside selling your whole Apple ID Account. There is absolutely no way in the Apple IOS ecosystem to sell an app to someone else or such.

@Wrlds2ndBstGeoshredr If you can get a refund on the app in question, you could use that Apple money to purchase the app as a gift, you just need the other persons Apple ID.
