  • Since the pic I snapped with my iPhone is apparently too large to post here, I'll just explain things on the (mostly) iOS side:

iPad 4 via the CCK to a Novation X-Station, which acts as an audio/midi interface and midi controller (and also controls my hardware synths). 99% of my sequencing is done from the Octatrack (sometimes from the Monomachine, tho much less these days since I got the OT). Audio out from the X-Station to my patchbay to my Saffire Pro 40, audio in (at will) to the X-Station from the patchbay to whatever apps I might want to use for effects or recording in iOS. Midi I/O via a Unitor 8 MKII to the X-Station. MidiBridge for any internal/discrete routing configurations.

Quite seamless, zero latency. I'll probably pick up the iConnectAudio4+ when it comes out! but I hope it works as well as my ad-hoc setup.

  • Had to get rid of some my Gear, move to an apartment so i downsize .

  • You guys have some pretty fancy setups!

This is a vid of my quick setup to Jam at night when the fams sleeping. Mainly wanted to show what these little sold on TV sticky things are useful for ;). All my recording stuff is in the dungeon, err I mean basement, a lot less accessible.

  • This is the ios vanity thread!

New studio, new pics. The little black thing on the desk to the right of the iPad is a Rode iXY-l Mic, one of my new favorite toys :)

  • @Tarekith You replaced the forest with actual foliage! I still want to get that tree paper.

  • That wallpaper was a pic I took at Deception Pass State Park in WA state. Still in the studio, just behind me in this pic. :)

  • @Tarekith. That is pristine brother. The lava lamp is a nice subtle touch. Love these studio set up pics. Get to see where the magic happens.

  • here is my studio I built into a flight case. Iconnect midi 2+ to get audio in and out of my MacBook Pro. IK multimedia stealth pedal for audio interface and guitar stuff.

Sweet Jesus. It's even cooler knowing you took the shot. I spent a couple of days last summer meandering in that very park.

That's sweet. Does everything we see there fit into the case?

  • yep. it all breaks down, packs up inside in a couple minutes. the table to the right has quick disconnect hinges and a collapsible leg support, and is actually the front cover to the case. there are 2 slide out drawers one that has its own slide out section that I use for. mouse pad area.
Actually this is a older picture, I most recently built and installed a gold out arm to the left of my laptop screen , that holds a second larger monitor, so that I can use abelton live in 2 window mode( wich is amazing).
I hope to build a new case in the near future that is two racks wide, and has a hinged lid on the top deck for even faster setup times.
it was a ton of fun to build and to use as a studio.

  • Mostly finished, no more space!

Particularly like the casual Italian family style restaurant tablecloth. Not kidding. Adds a homey kind of feel.

90% of anything that's anything is the product of these two items.

    Thought the very same.

    Nice rack!

Very nice Alex. Those 900 series SSL outboards are so badass. Although the bus compressor might not be incredibly useful in a 100% iOS production, I bet a bass guitar or vocals through the preamp then into the interface->lightning input sounds unreal.

    Great setup...

You mean pen and paper or sofa and keyboard? :#

  • This is the latest incarnation of home hybrid rig. Note mate-dictated lack of visible wires.

  • @dwarm. You sir are a better man than I. Look at this glorious mess.

  • Sorry. @dwarman is what I meant of course. Maybe I should have posted on the drunk talk thread.

Actually you are right. But this setup is not 100% IOS production but a hybrid system with Desktop DAW + Ipads as additional sound modules ,loopers etc. The SSL bought them as an opportunity at very low price. These classics will never lose value.

what is that keyboard stand ben ?

  • I have a simple setup. I record the audio coming from my iPad directly into Ableton Live. This forces me to perform my music as it's recorded. Having the recorded audio in Live allows me to add additional audio effects, structure the song, and do a poor mix.

    Gear:

    • Macbook Pro w/ Ableton Live Lite
    • iPad 4th Generation on a Luxa 2 H4 iPad Stand
    • iPad music apps include Fugue Machine, Korg Gadget, Samplr, and Borderlands Granular, and of course Audiobus
    • Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface
    • Two Tannoy Reveal 501a monitors
