  • Just thought I'd resurrect this, since we have quite a few new members. My setup changed a bit too.

  • Notation x station, ipad, mic, Norman acoustic. This was in September. Now it's all wrapped up and I'm using my portable set up which is basically ipad, akai mpk mini and a pair of cans. Love the portability, hate not being easily able to record vocals (too much fuffing about)

  • Forgot to add that the x station set up was when my other half was on holiday lol

  • You don't really want a picture of me lying in bed with iPad in hand wearing headphones do you?

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!

  • Hahahhaa

  • @enc I take it from that response you're assuming I'm male :-)

I take it from that response you're assuming @enc is male :)

  • According to the poll, it's a 97.3% likelihood.

  • As Seinfeld said "not that there's anything wrong with that"

  • Send your pic to Seinfeld then! ;-)

@otem_rellik I love the look of your live setup, please could you tell me what all the bits are? I assume that's a Behringer mixer and I recognise the Korg Monotron Delay (I have one, my favourite delay) but what are the other items. And what's the little black box to the left of the iPad and green thing?

    Thanks.

Thanks! I've been rocking the suitcase set up for many years now, this is just the latest configuration. Yep, cheap little behringer xenyx802, monotron delay, the red pedal is a tc helicon mic mechanic which i run my vocals through. On the left is a queneo with a green vinly overlay and above that is a novation launch control. The black box is just a powered usb hub. I also have a behringer uca222 in there. Here is a more detailed photo:

    @thinds Is this you? :)

    Nice rack

I've got a lot of different set ups that I bounce between, but this is my living room, teaching, and portable rig that gets the most use. Fast setup and tear down + no external power required is the key to this setup. I also use a blueboard with it for looping (generally only for the first loop) since it's difficult to press the nanopad2 and play guitar at the same time.

Nice. What is the Sabrent and the Korg unit below it?

  • edited January 2014

The Sabrent is a USB hub that has switches to enable/disable the individual USB devices without having to unplug them. It also is one of those rare hubs that seems to confuse the iPads power limitation so I can run the jam, nanopad2, and tripleplay all at once without the power error.

The mini kaoss pad 2 allows me to add post effects to loopy and play backing tracks via a micro SD card with a dedicated play button. And once the track is over it doesn't automatically play the next track which is really nice. And it is for goofing off or adding a bit of verb/delay to the main mix. It runs on 2 AA batteries.

  • Both sound like a good components for mobile use.

I also built that same hub into my homemade controller so I can use the jam, triple play, and this larger foot controller all without external power. Or use it with an Apogee one with external or battery power (but no device charging), or with the G3 TC pedalboard with the built in battery pack. Basically, I can't make up my mind what I want so I just have too much stuff. It's a disease and I can admit that. :-)

  • Most of us here probably suffer from GAS. I'm in the same boat.

  • It would be boring to post a picture of my iPhone, but that is the extent of my 'setup' (so far). I'm hoping to avoid leaving the iOS environment as long as I can.

Haha, I have an fm am radio in my set up too, sampling on the fly. I also have a battery powered busking rig with a car amp+subwoofer combined with micro cube that I used when busking playing bass in my band. Now the band is gone but the new set up Ipad Ielectribe, turnado, loopy...weeeeeeee

  • Here's my rig for live work. Top: powered usb hub, Alesis IO2, Rolls Mini-mixer. Middle: iPad Air, iPad 3. Lower: Korg Microkey sitting on top of M-Audio controller. Right: iPod Touch 4 running Impaktor, triggered by a vintage tobacco tin with internal piezo (running through an iRig). Floor: sustain pedal for controller, iRig Blueboard for switching in LoopyHD.
