    Already have it mate. ;) It’s Pro-R I’m missing.

    Oops, my mistake.

Got me a Pro-R today. Beautiful to look at and, of course, superb in what it makes possible.

I mostly make rock music, recording my guitar, bass, and vocals into my iPad, so any IAPs that would suite my needs specifically would be great to hear about.

As a fellow rock guitarist, I can tell you many FabFilter plugins have been indispensable to me. While you really can't go wrong and could almost just pick a handful out of a hat and be satisfied, this is the order in which I've found them most useful:

    1. Pro-G
    2. Pro-Q 2
    3. Pro-L
    4. Pro-R
    5. Timeless2
    6. Pro-C 2
    7. Saturn

For my needs, 1–3 on the list have been absolute must-haves; I could get away with other effects to take the place of 4–7. However, because I have the above FabFilter plugins, I never have to bother going with other effects.

I don't consider myself a FF fanboy, I just sincerely think they're that good.

  • Thanks that’s exactly what I needed.

    Pro-R it is then.

@skiphunt the thing I really love about Pro-R is that you can tune both the reflections and the overall tonality, so it’s very easy to get just the sound you like. And FWIW personally I don’t like EOS at all, too digital sounding to me.

Thank you for the feedback, opinion and your impressions. Helpful :)

  • Wow, thank you everyone for the responses! I just spend like $50 on IAPs, can’t wait to play with them this weekend

We are getting a good deal, and WaveLabs are doing just what they said. But Apple are striking in-between for UK buyers, adding to the cost.

I noticed that the Pro-R I bought today was listed at something over $15. Proper half price. Yet, the second I pressed buy, I was charged something over £19.

Yeah that’s exactly what happened to me... listed at $15 and then jumped to $20 at the purchase screen

  • The AP Store is having issues must refresh.

  • I think Pro R is always at $39.99

  • Spent some time learning Auria, imported a little Gadget beat in and slapped on Pro Q2, Saturn and a little Pro R on the drums... WOW

Should of bought these on desktop a long time ago... amazing plugs. ProQ2 where you been all my life haha.

Auria on the other hand needs a facelift. Took a while getting everything imported uploading to Dropbox etc. Also had my first expierence with the full screen fabfilter but on iPad pros!

    No regrets tho!

  • Don't sleep on microwarmer, that's a good one. Different saturation than Saturn, it does amazing things to a drum bus. Pro q is a necessity from my view just because it is a useful interface that can be easier than the channel strip for certain things. But, do not gloss over the channel strip if you just bought auria, it's very very good and of course is included.

Timeless and the psp echo are good to have (and are different), the built in delay is very basic, although it does what it does well.

Not sure what kind of rock you’re talking about, but the top three plugins I used when I recorded my album (sort of an Indie/Classic Rock vibe) with Auria were as follows:

    1. Pro Q 2 on just about everything including master bus
    2. FXpansion Chan Comp (the green one) on just about every vocal track
    3. PSP Microwarmer on just about everything from vox, acoustic/electric guitars, vocals, bass, and the drum bus.

Having said all that, I love the PSP Old Timer, PSP Echo, and Pro C2. Pro R kicks ass, but I also love the Golden Glue IAP for the Convolution Reverb.

I’ll reiterate that the PSP channel strip and master bus are excellent and should not be overlooked.

Don’t forget that all these plugins can make good sounds better, but they don’t generally make bad sounds good. I realize that “good” and “bad” are subjective terms, but you should be pretty happy with your sounds before adding the processing.

Thank you, sir. Coming from someone as talented, prolific, and versatile as you, that means quite a lot to me. I’m truly humbled.

    Mine are:

    Fabfilter pro Q2
    Fabfilter pro R
    Fabfilter pro L

I just can't imagine mixing without those anymore. They are just too good.

  • I play guitar. So:
    THR
    Timeless
    ProQ

Also you could find extra great IR within RetroVerb pack.

  • Pro Q2, Pro R and Pro L are now invaluable to me.
Pro R has great presets. I especially like the glue to mix ones.
Pro L is fantastic for mastering to the right levels for the K system and you can see what it is doing!

  • Looking through this thread, it appears nearly everyone has recommended Pro-Q 2—and that's irrespective of their music genre field. Makes sense to me. A good EQ is probably the most important tool at every recording stage. Other tools are important, and a final mix would suffer greatly without them, but EQ (in my experience) is paramount.

A good reverb (such as Pro-R) is probably second.

Yes the bread-and-butter ones (EQ, compression, reverb) are the ones that get the most use. Timeless is actually a great mixture of bread-and-butter with more creative possibilities, and Pro-L is great for getting the right levels on you final mix - like @DefRobot I use it with the K system scale to make sure my mixes are loud without actually crushing the dynamics.

  • 1) Pro-Q2 is the best ‘precision’ EQ I’ve ever used.
    2) Pro-R is a gorgeous, flexible reverb. And it’s even beautiful to look at. :)
    3) PSP Microwarmer rocks.

(On reflection, outside of perhaps Retune, there isn’t a bad choice in the entire lineup. If you know that iOS music making is your thing, and you happen to have $250 lying around, at these sale prices I don’t think it’s crazy to just buy the lot. FabFilter and PSP are top of the line companies, and everything here is 3 to 10 times more expensive on the desktop.)

Ok I just jumped into the pool
Upgraded to Auria Pro and bought Pro Q2, Pro reverb and Pro Limiter
    What a rush :)
Also just bought PSP Microwarmer for voice, guitars..now I’m set :)

  • Pro-mb vs Pro-c2.
I have pro-mb is that good enough?

  • ProMB is a different beast. If you need a traditional compressor with side chaining capabilities, Pro C2 is for you. As for myself, I seldom use it because I found out the channel comp is more than enough for my needs, but I have it anyway - you never know when the need arises, and for the price, it’s a steal.

  • I already own pro-mb anyways my funds are dry. Only 10 shekels left. Gotta spend those wisely. No DDMF discounts what a bummer.
I was gonna get THM overloud but I think with saturn and the other plugs I should be set.

  • I always turn to Proc C2 first for my compression needs. I find it easier to use and also more transparent sounding than any of the other options in AP. YMMV of course.

  • Does anyone know what’s up with the pricing on some of the FF IAPs? Some are the correct sale prices... while others end up converting to more? I’m on the EU App Store and Pro R ends up costing more than it should.

Yup it’s happening here in the Canadian appstore. It shows a price in Auria and when I go to buy it it recalculates the price higher. The prices must be in American. Still a very good deal
but yeah I was surprised with the readjustment

  • Pro-R is normally $39.99 US, and the sale price is $19.99 US. But keep in mind that Apple does price conversions to adjust for different currencies.

    Rim

  • I can't make up my mind on this. I want to take advantage of the sale, and I KNOW from the other FabFilters that they are worth the money for sure... but only if you're actually going to use them.

I'm torn. Ok, if you had to pick between only one FabFilter, and you could only have Pro-R or Pro-L, which would you pick?

It's the exchange rate, basically 30%. I just bought Pro R and the $19.99 became $27.99 Cdn. Major bummer!

  • I think you’re gonna use Pro-L the most. That’s why I waited so long to get Pro-R, but at this 50% off it’s a tough choice bro. I got Pro-r cause I already have Pro-L
