Is iElectribe for iPhone any different sound from the iPad version? :dizzy:

Mono/Poly is a different beast. Polysix is a pretty traditional polysynth— you get one set of controls for six voices, so all of your notes will sound the same. Mono/Poly, on the other hand, lets you control the wave and tuning for each oscillator. Basically, that means that you can have the first note be a square, the second be a detuned saw, the third be a suboctave triangle, and the fourth be a triangle wave. Or any other combination! Or, you can switch to Mono mode and have every oscillator play at once for truly massive timbres.

This being 2017, the app also has a “true” polyphonic mode a la Polysix and a great sequencer section. I recommend it wholeheartedly but I have one sort of complex complaint about the envelopes — if you set a long attack time, the envelopes will restart from zero every time you hit a note. This, in my opinion, limits the synth’s capabilities, but it’s also how 90% of envelopes are programmed these days so I should probably just get used to it.

Mono/Poly is integrated with Gadget, if that matters to you.

  • is there much use for ielectribe? does it play well with others? you can’t import samples, can you? and in the gorillaz version — in order up put up with that cartoon interface, do you get bonus sounds? or is it really just a gorillaz soundset?

Just now picked up iDS-10 and wondering if the Plus IAP is usually $5 or if that is a markdown price?
Might as well wait till payday if it’s usual price, as I’m already near $400 in black friday iOS buys.

  • Also, the Odyessei presets/skins are on sale for $2.99. Do these bring anything new to the app?

Apart from the extra presets, and new skins, nothing new. The 3 filter types are included in the basic purchase

  • As per their usual practice, KORG has extended the sale until January 9, 2018.

    http://www.korg.com/us/news/2017/112402/

  • Why oh why oh why has the App Store used a horizontal scroll when viewing all apps by a developer? Why doesn’t it revert to a vertical scroll when viewing in portrait mode, and why does it cut off the price of items in the far right corner?

    Crap, crap, crap.

I am not totally sure, but I think it was $10 for the IAP when I looked a while back. Hope someone can confirm.

Opposite for me actually, I use them more since Rozeta came out, and control them with that.

I have been using Gadget with Quantum, since my plan with AU Model-15 and Quantum didn't pan out.

Haven’t got Quantum, but Rozetaworks brilliantly with Gadget.

You have to click view all and then it looks fine.

is there much use for ielectribe? Omg yes!

does it play well with others? not sure how to answer that. It’s IAA and works fine in all apps. Can’t set specific midi inputs, and only listens on ch 10. No midi learn. Odd note mapping scheme. Has Link. I wouldn’t call it a team player, but it will play on a team if it needs to

you can’t import samples, can you? Nope. It’s a synth. That said, you probably won’t miss that it’s such a great drum synth. I feed samples from it to other apps more than many others

and in the gorillaz version — in order up put up with that cartoon interface, do you get bonus sounds? or is it really just a gorillaz soundset? can’t help with that one.

YMMV, but I apsolutlely friggin love iELECTRIBE. I come back to it all the time.

[edit] oh, forget about updates and improvements. I really don’t think Korg is gonna come back to the iELECTRIBE. I think it’s fully baked in their eyes.

Very slightly. The iPad version has an added “tube” distortion you can dial in. Oddly, the iPhone version has a shitload more presets patterns and they are really, really good.

Maybe it’s just the new App Store, but I couldn’t find a way to install the iPhone version on the iPad. If you were thinking of getting the iPhone version and running it on both, I’m not sure that will work.
[edit] nvm - you can and it works fine. I just had to go to the listing of all Korg apps to find it. It wasn’t in the list of purchased apps, but did let me install once I found it.

Though in principle I’m against separate versions, I have to say that buying the iPhone version is the only dual purchase I’ve not continued to resent afterward.

No it doesn't, not on my Air 2, there's a completely user unfriendly horizontal scroll view. Are you on iOS11?

I wish Korg would take 50% of Gadget’s CPU heat and battery drain.

Still on ios 10, a 12.9 screen. It's sometimes cutting off prices for me too, until I go to the view all page where everything looks fine, except that I have to scroll down past the iphone apps to get to the ipad ones.

Right, you’re in for a shock when you update to 11 then. The App Store UI is shagged.
