Fellow newbie here, mostly working in AUM as I try to work out how it would be to “play” some of my ideas live, but definitely also digging into Cubasis. My favorite (for now) Rozeta trick is to use Cells to drive Arpeggio to drive a synth - and sometimes kick in an instance of LFO driving the number of octaves and, say, accent interval on Arpeggio with sample and hold waves at some fraction of tempo. Delicious!

Nice one, thanks. I wish the time division in Rozeta Arp was also exposed to midi cc. I don't know why he decided not to.

Right? I think that would make Arpeggio able to pretty much perfectly emulate the modular synth trick of running an LFO into a quantizer, which is something I would love to be able to do with fidelity and precision on my humble little iPad. :)

  • Sorry,i'm a bit late to the party (i've been away from ios music for more than one and a half year) but did someone already request pattern chaining? ;)

Btw,it's an awesome tool collection.Awesome like every single Bram Bos release, thanks!

You could easily chain/sequence patterns with another cells instance.

mmmh, not sure what you mean because they would still start parallel from the first beat, not serial...or do i overlook something?

Look in the Cells options. You can trigger/change patterns with notes.

So you have one cells for your sequences

and one setup just to send notes to change patterns.

  • oooh,i see. Thanks! Looks to me that i don't even need another instance...gotta try it now.

  • Is it possible to midi automate the record on/off button? ( would like to control it with a foot pedal)

  • It looks like Cells thinks we only play in 4/4? I have AUM set to 6/4, and Cells’ gate length set to advance every bar, but it advances every four beats, not six. I am I missing a trick here, or is this a limitation of Cells?

  • Odd link is presently unavailable.

Hey, who told you, you could do other than 4 on the floor beats?
    o:)
Anyway, I think this is a "feature" of all Roseta plugins. It only understands "bar" as a set of 4 beats.
Check LFO too, for instance. @brambos ?

Yeah, I hate it when that happens.

  • I've been shopping around in the forum but never found a 100% confirmation about if I can plug chords into Rozeta Cells using an app like Tonality to send chords. Is it possible? Since I can choose what midi keyboard Cells use in AUM I'm hoping it will work?
    Can anybody confirm?
    Cheers

Sure you can. It doesn't matter what midi source you use. AUM has completely flexible MIDI routing so there's no reason you can't send chords to Rozeta from Tonality.

Set the midi source for Cells to Tonality. Set the midi source for whatever app you want to play to Cells.

Anyone got a link to this that isn't on Facebook please?

Man, @brambos was definitely right place, right time with this Rosetta bundle, right? Those apps are going to be virtually everybody's origin experience with AU MIDI.

Way to completely discredit the man's work. Brambos is a leader. His apps just work. They have been working before most people here even considered iOS as a music making platform.

  • Is there a chance ;-) that Rozeta Cells will be equipped with a „chance“-function? Something that can adjust the chance a cell will play from 0 to 100 %. I found this in an Arturia Keystep Pro (which i not own) and this would be a killer-feature for Cells. I have an idea how to implement it; with a simple up-/down-gesture while tap and hold a cell.

You may want to check out Senode. Similar concept to Cells and has probability per step, and more.

Thank you!! Its amazing, what is possible with sequencing on the iPad. But i think, this app is for my need a little bit overpowered. The suggestion with the „chance“-feature would help to add a bit more life to a static sequence. And with a gesture i think it could be implemented without adding new buttons or changing the GUI. Maybe @brambos will read this someday… :-))

Set Cells to manual, and it will only advance when it receives a midi note. Send midi in at random times and you get random advance in Cells. That’s not what you asked for, but it might fulfill the need for uncertainty in some musical contexts.

Oh yes! Thank you, i am just beginning to experiment with chaining different plugins.

Pretty sure that Rozeta will not get any feature updates, at least several people have claimed here that Bram stated that some time ago. You could always use midiGATEs or another similar app, pipe Cells through that to the instrument you're playing, MidiGATEs is fantastic, sure there are mozaic scripts you could use for this too if you have Mozaic

  • +1 for MIDIgates for three different ways of introducing controllable percentages of randomness into the output from any midi source. I use it all the time inside AUM, sometimes with Rozetta Scaler to keep things in tune if my midi source is random too. Random rules ! :)
