Why are iOS music users so ####ing slow to adopt iOS11?
Just saying.
Because my iPad 1 won’t go past 5.1.
Why do we even bother with a device who’s manufacturer cares more about nickel and diming you outta all your money? O because they are all like that and iOS is the cheapest short term option where we can hide our vast purchases from our other halves
But seriously. I have lots of apps now.
In future if an app does not have a way to share its audio and or midi with other apps (without need for any other device), I’m likely to not buy it.
Also:
Non AU synths - funk off!
Non AU drum apps - funk off! (Unless you have great audio stem, midi stem sharing and multiple outs).
Synths that don’t have a save system - funk off! (iTunes doesn’t count).
Anything that needs iTunes - funk off!
Any new AU host apps that don’t have AU midi - funk off!
Which reminded me that just a few days ago someone posted a thread in the Cubasis forum asking for DropBox support on iOS5.1.1/iPad 1.

I'm happy with iOS11.2.1 on my iPad Air 2.
Files.app support/integration is slowly starting to appear and that takes us one step away from having to use a computer to manage our files...
The devs are doing great - I bow to them, they have to continually update and program to constantly moving targets for tiny amounts of $.
..and put up with a whinging demanding IOS crowd
Actually, that's not quite true - it's fairly involved still, as it requires some significant changes to how an app's documents are handled, in order to protect against concurrent accesses (see the NSFileCoordinator class reference, if you're interested). It's a lot of work, and that would come at the expense of other things. Such is life!
Such as life! lol
IAP is a good model. there needs to be energy exchange. money makes the world go round and it's not as if anything is particularly expensive for IOS.
even if you're a Albert, i'm sure coding is still a headf@k at times. i nearly had a nervous break down trying to do a variation of the blink sketch for my arduino
Why are they so slow to integrate AR into all our music apps? I mean, it’s out there, now.
Because the jailbreak isn't out yet (though it's imminent) and we don't want to give up real filesystem access for Apple's half-arsed version...
The top two reasons for me are: 1) Many apps are cross-platform, and introducing support for features that are specific to a single OS has less value than introducing "general" features 2) Apple's developer documentation is often terrible, and for newly introducted features, it is often abysmal or non-existant
So far I’m Not really feeling the pain. Probably because I’m so AU focused. Most of the main apps I use seem to already support iOS 11 files. The thing I really want is drag and drop from AudioShare
Yeah, it's just:
Link SDK
Ab3 SDK
Midi sync
Adapt graphics to new iPhone
Bugs and crashes
Files
Dropbox
Etc etc
That already works when you access the AudioShare content from Files.app but the only downside is no 'preview'.
Yes indeed. Files app works for now. But elegant preview is what I’m after. So close.
Actually I can see VR uptake happening quicker. Sit yourself down in a multi-million $ studio and mix your track, etc.
Well yeah, except that AU is relatively new to IOS and many developers are on iOS only part time.
I feel your pain brother but I also feel theirs. I personally use whatever I have available and to be honest got so used to Dropbox, AudioShare et al, that couldn't care less. You can tell I'm sure
It will come in due time just like multiple lanes in Audiobus, IAA, Link, AU....
Water will flow
I can see where people confined to a very specific workflow might have a different view, but I buy an iOS music app based on whether it can add something to making better music. Some apps have more conveniences built in, but good sound, real utility and innovation far outweigh the piddly stuff where a little extra effort provides a workaround.
@Max23 ok I'm convinced you have no idea what actually goes into making an app, either that or your an entitled millennial that is used to people giving you everything you want.. are you from America by any chance?
