Synth for trance

Are there any synths that sound best if you produce trance? Like maybe are there synths that have a great arpeggiator opposed to the test.....belief it or not my questions are getting thinner in quantity lol

  • Many works for this but Sunrizer is a winner here for me.

  • Poison-202 is the one that I immediately thought of.

Here is a sound demo if you are interested i made a while ago.
Only Sunrizer as sound source, no extern FX as well.
Just 2 drum loops added otherwise.

    +1 for Poison or GrooveRider

    +1 for Sunrizer, maybe Zeeon?

Lots of options from Korg, especially in Gadget. M1 or Darwin, Oddessey or Lexington, Lisbon, Brussels and Wolfsburg to think of just a few

    Synthmaster Player

Garageband Alchemy and some of the default synth presets

    Novation's Groovebox

Cubasis has a good synth too, the Micrologue I think it's called.

    Thor by Propellerheads

    Cassini by Iceworks

    Virsyn synths

    Brambos synths esp. Troublemaker

    Animoog

    Caustic

I've produced a tonne of progressive house and trance this year in Korg Gadget, linked here. Shoot me any questions here or in a PM if you want,

  • Well @jdolecek70 , what kind of lead are you looking to produce? Usual supersaw stuff? Something a little better than that? ;)

  • most sounds in first track are from Sunrizer
in other two is also used Sunrizer for some plus a hell lot of Thor :)

  • Lorentz is amazing for all kinds of trance styles ands it’s AUV3

    Agree about sunrizer too

But most synths can do trance if u know how to tweak

For psytrance maybe unique and mood

If you don’t overdose detune it’s good old unisono, doesn’t have to sound like kindergarten rave ;)

Don't need too many apps to replicate all those sounds. It's all about knowing how to tweak the apps :)

supersaws detuned to extreme are used also in moden music, for exampke hardstyle & hardcore

    hardstyle:

and this is modern hardcore sound

    hardstyle:

I heard some hard style sounds on the second video, but the first one sounds more like some mixture of trance, modern bass music(like with some dubstep influences) and something else rather than hardstyle.

    This is hardstyle trance:

  • Did anybody say Sunrizer yet. Don’t do trance, don’t use the synth much, but it seems the perfect prescription

  • In general trance uses often virtual analog synths. Nearly all ios synths are virtual analog. Sunrizer is close to synths like jp-8000 which is the type of synth people have been using for trance etc since the beginning of the genre. Poison 202 has nice super saws and also close to ideal trance synth. Zeeon would also work for many trance sounds. If i had to choose one, i would go with poison 202, and that is because sunrizer is not an audio unit, which makes it too pain in the ass to use and can only run one instance, which rarely is enough for you to get all your trance sounds out of.

    @ToMess

thats hardtrance... hardtrance is something else than hardstyle... hardstyle is basically "less hard" version of hardcore, often with masoc basslinr melody played by kick itself

your example is oldschool hardtrance.. pr maybe this was sound of hardstyle in beginning, 15 years ago.. nowaday hardstyle is something completely different, its represented by projects like Wild Motherfuckers, Da Tweekaz, Headhunters and others

Here is set of best hardstyle releases from past year

    Well durr, lol. ;)

I mean, I’ll bite the bullet and say supersaws in trance ARE good when they are used as pads (and even better when blended into other sounds being used as pads). Don’t underestimate it. However, as a lead? Gouryella popularized the supersaw trance lead, Alphazone perfected it, and everybody else and their mother ruined it by oversaturating the trance charts of the early-to-mid 00s wiith it. Actually scratch that. DJ Manian ruined it by inventing “hands up” and releasing records under a ton of different monickers.

Another train wrecked thread....sorry for the O.P.
Maybe the O.P. just post which trance he/she likes instead of our "vision" ;)
At least finally Audiobus is at KVR level now.

if trance then, for me, this:

    true trance with spirit ..

of course for everybody works something different .. there is not bad music, there are just morons who mark with stamp "bad trash" music, which they do not understand or/and which do not matches their personal subjective criteria of "good" music :)))

The best part of it all for me is reading the arguments over whether something hard or medium psych dub tech house or soft emo core trance.

I thought it was all just music, silly me. ;)

But lots of synth suggestions for the OP. Probably the answers along the lines of get to know whatever synth you choose inside and out are the answers that will help the most.

Gadget is certainly a solution that provides everything you need in one package, but at the end of the day all options presented are tools to fulfill the ideas in your head.

There was an update about 6 weeks ago, just before Gibson pulled the shutters down on Cakewalk.

It is still in the AppStore for those that had already bought it as of this minute.

I guess it will vanish completely in the not too far distant future.

What’s the best way of backing these things up forever?
