It’s properly lovely, isn’t it. I’m slightly envious you have all those episodes to discover - near the end of the second series here. I can see a bit of me and my mate who passed away a couple of years ago in their exchanges, which brings a tear sometimes.
Detectorists is good too - totally different as it’s based around a storyline, but has that same gentle, rustic, mates and pubs vibe.
Best thing on telly at the moment.
I have just finished watching "The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance" on Netflix.

Wow, it was really good, great story and so much effort and attention to details 😊
I was tempted for nostalgias sake, but a quick skim of an episode made it seem a bit dated and cheesy. You're saying it's worth diving into? MIght have to give this one another go.
I felt the same way at first. Stay with it though it’ll grow on you.
Can’t get enough of those little Podling dudes.
I think maybe it’s because they used puppets instead of computer animation that it looks dated/different. I started watching it with my wife and in the beginning, I was reading the AB forum while watching, but then I got drawn in to it.
So I think you should give it a chance.
Funimation:
Wolf’s Rain - Kind of corny fantasy
Star Blazers - Update of the old anime, cool animation and battle scenes
Cowboy Bebop - Classic
Not an anime-head over here but Number One Son swears even old fucks will be drawn into the serious storyline of: Erased which to be fair is running at 8,5 on IMDB (FWIW)....
Erased is excellent, and is already considered a classic by some.
Cowboy Bebop is a bona-fide classic. Older viewers who enjoyed film noir and westerns will like it.
I started watching Space Battleship Yamato 2199, aka "Star Blazers 2199" on Crunchyroll, then they abruptly moved the show to Funimation. I'll probably spring for a Funimation subscription at some point just to continue watching Star Blazers 2199. Not that many good space opera shows out there and this looks like one of the best.
The various Gundam titles are space opera as well, but vary in quality. What they share in common is robot battles, backstories with political maneuvering between multiple organizations, some mystery masked character who can be villainous but sometimes switches sides, and a "war is hell" theme. Half the cast usually dies by the end of the show. "Gundam Wing" was the only Gundam show that enjoyed an American audience - it had a relatively simple plot.
who wouldn’t want Bob as their fishing buddy!! the natural comedy genius of a past depressive.. though it’s obviously been pitched to TV execs as a riff on Coogan & Brydon’s “The Trip” serieseseses ( which i loved ).. it somehow manages to usurp it and come out on top.. fortunately Whitehouse & Mortimer spend most of the time with their pants wet so i don’t feel so bad if I wet mine!
Just been watching the Python stuff on BBC4. Seeing Terry Jones reminded me of a story I heard, years back.
He owned a brewery/pub near Kington, and the bloke who we bought our house off there - a music teacher and cellist, used to go there with Mike Oldfield and get pissed (Oldfield had a house on the outskirts of Kington, overlooking Hergest Ridge.
One night Mike was plonking away in the bar on his mandolin, loudly, and a little the worse for wear, and so the landlord (not Terry Jones) kicked him out.
I just love the thought of that, multi platinum album selling “Oldfield, you’re barred!” It’s a bit like kicking out John Lennon for playing guitar too loudly.
@MonzoPro Oldfield, you’re barred!
Good story....I imagine him stumbling off down the street and into the night....
Thanks for the nudge on Dark Crystal, this is excellent!
over and over and over and over and over and over and over hahahaha never get tired of this one
Youtube recommended this to me and I'm blown away LOL!
Apparently he ended up in the front room of the house we bought on a few occasions, which was usually filled with pissed musicians. I like to think we carried on that tradition..
OTT Genius ! it's just got so much going for it
Lodge 49 on AMC is well worth your time.
Btw, If you’ve never seen Riki-OH, prepare yourself. It’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before.
Should have called it Riki-OMG!

Jaw Dropped, I'm just silently watching...
Finished watching it last night. 2nd season has a darker, melancholic vibe.
I know quite a few people watch anime for ninja fights, dungeons and dragons type stuff, fanservice, etc. This is not for those people.
A true work of art.
Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese
Fantastic!
(both meanings of the word)
Just watched the ‘Inside Alan Moore’s Head’ series. Chomping my way through his book Jerusalem at the moment, so slightly obsessed with all things Alan.
The new Watchmen series coming out on hbo looks pretty cool!
War Machine... Brad Pitt commanding Afghan war. Very Dr. Strangelove. Ben Kingsley terrific as Afghan prez. Recommend highly to get that jolt of the special absurdity of insurgent warfare.
‘A City Called Dragon‘ (1969)
Ken Burns’ Vietnam. Now there was real lyin’! Not the pansy assed shit going down these days.
Looks wonderful. And destabilizing you bastard
He's another one of those people that fascinate and inspire me. This film seems to be a commercial outlet for his 'art' projects over the last decade or so. Pie circles, The 17, making soup, demolishing Stonehenge etc. None of that, but similar ideas: making cakes, shining shoes etc.
And I bet, as with the million quid burning, there's no explanation at the end. 'What's it all about, Bill?'
The destabilising thing for me though, is that most of these people that fascinate me, seem to have links with each other....
