Just watched Poor Things in theaters with the wife. Absolutely insane and amazing in every way. Probably my favorite of the decade so far.
For All Mankind. A LOT better than I was expecting tbh.
I started watching “Pluto” tonight on Netflix. Just finished episode 1. I think the second half of the episode will talk to a lot of us here. Beautiful show, masterpiece !
How are you liking Fargo @HotStrange
I think this season was pretty much perfect! I didn’t think they could beat s1 or 2 - but they did. I savoured every moment. The finale was so great and rewarding. Brilliant all around. Highly recommend.
Yes so did ,I unfortunately the BBC and Sky showed their bias as to not showing South Africa’s case only day two Isreal’s defence, so watched online, hopefully they actually bring the case against accomplices too. Justice, freedom to one and all.
Haven’t had a chance to start it yet actually. This massive cold front froze our water which has proven to be a massive PITA with time consuming work arounds. Between that and work I haven’t been very motivated lol
But I hope to start it this coming week. I’m excited because I keep seeing glowing reviews with most people saying it’s the best since season 2. Super excited 🤩
The ICJ South Africa vs. Isreal interim ruling, a small step to justice a giant leap for humanity.
Aston Villa and Chelsea in a FA cup match. Very even game.
Watched Season 7 of Rick and Morty over the past few days. Some episodes are a little flat, but the spaghetti one was fantastic.
Funny, wasn't taken with Unai at Arsenal, but he's very obviously the real deal.
Going to withdraw my recommendation of "For All Mankind" temporarily. The first two seasons were excellent, the 3rd season was just so unbelievable (let's send the most unstable and emotionally driven people to Mars for the first time) that I had a hard time getting into it. Hopefully season 4 is better.
Yeah this squad just listens to what he says and drills the shit out of it. His system has been so fun to watch, I’ve been very happy Villa got him another chance in PL
Blue Eyed Samurai on Netflix. Really well done show, great story, and even though it’s anime some of the fight scenes are the best in the genre.
Community cos I’m really excited the movie is finally going to be a reality
I’m watching this guy
👆I absolutely loved it. Masterpiece.
It’s so good. I’m half way through and trying to make the most of it cause I know I’ll miss this show
Enjoyed this recently surfaced interview with Pink Floyd, conducted as they were doing the overdubs for Live at Pompeii.
(To avoid a copyright strike, the uploader removed the footage that the film shares with Live at Pompeii. The original full version is available here.)
Some amusing quips about gear, and their reputation around it:
LOL. Rick Wright is more earnest:
Right, David. (Flashes-forward to The Delicate Sound of Thunder era, runs screaming.)
I’m Alan Partridge. Haven’t seen it for years.
“A-ha!”
When the interviewer mentions people's notions that "anyone with the same equipment could make the same music":
HAHAHA.
Earnest Rick to the rescue again:
Love that guy.
Recently watched ‘The Zone of Interest’ in the theater, about a nazi officer who lives a peaceful life with his family right next to Auschwitz. Definitely a bizarre and puzzling watch.
On Netflix just finished Ozark. And we are currently watching Six Feet Under, an older one but never seen it before, good show. It’s always hard to find something interesting on Netflix, most stuff is just meh and I just stop watching after 10-20 minutes.
From a novel by one of my favorite authors, Charles Willeford.
Outstanding performances from Warren Oates, Harry Dean Stanton, Millie Perkins, etc.
IIRC, this was the only American International Pictures release to lose money at the box office.
Watched the first two episodes of Shogun on Hulu and was impressed. I remember watching the early 80s version and not being too impressed, but this is much better and retains the flavor of the book.
Oh cool! I might have to add this to the list.
Did you ever watch the Blind Swordsman? I used to love it as a kid. We’re a Japanese family so I watched lots of that growing up.
I’m actually going to ask my wife’s cousin’s wife if she has seen it - she is Japanese, so I’d like to get her opinion. What does come over to me is that the Japanese characters and customs are far less stereotypical than in the 80s show.
I haven’t seen The Blind Swordsman, but I will check it out.
Cool! Lemme know what she thinks. I was born here (my grandparents immigrated) so I know less about it than some do surely but always cool to see what people think.
Blind Swordsman is good but old. I know some people don’t like older movies and shows but I always loved it
She was born in Japan and lived more than half her life there, so her perspective would be good to hear (assuming she watched it).
On a side note, I’m going to be traveling to Japan later this year (martial arts-related trip), and I’m really looking forward to it, particularly as one of us has friends in Tokyo who offered to be guides in the city.
Wow you saying martial arts trip is what finally made me realize you’re wearing a Gi in your profile picture 😂 never noticed before. Judo?
That’s awesome! I still have some family there (but in Osaka). Enjoy the trip! I’m hoping I get to go next year.
I had one of the best nights of my life at an underground reggae rave in Osaka. Fine town
I’ve still never been but from what I’ve seen and what I’ve heard from friends and family, it seems great I’m determined to go asap! 🇯🇵
