Maybe not everyone's cup of tea, but I'm watching Ahsoka on Disney+. Latest episode (5) was a real eye-popper.

    Been really enjoying that too.

This series is playing out like one long movie instead of serialized TV, which I think will make it even better on rewatch.

The Whale. New Darren Aronofsky film.

Oh wow, I usually love his stuff, apart from Noah maybe. Mother and Requiem for a Dream both left a massive impression on me

Mother seemed to be polarizing for many but I was definitely on the thumbs up side.

You were on the right side then! I think it's a bona fide masterpiece and it was one of those movies that was as much a physical experience for me as a mental one (and no I'm not talking about Jennifer Lawrence giving me a boner 😂. But yes, many people didn't like it. Will always be the way with radical things like this. File in the same category as Lars Von Trier and Thomas Vinterberg

I liked it a lot but I much preferred the first half. Really great atmosphere though. Aronofsky is great.

Started my yearly rewatch of Twin Peaks. It’s my favorite piece of art ever made and I feel like I love it more each time.

BTW, I've previously read texts something like ‘…watched season one of Twin Peaks DVDs all night long…’ in Peter Swanson's novel Before She Knew Him.
-I have no intention of recommending/not recommending that novel to you.
-As you can see my reply has no point, I'm sorry.

BTW (every time I use this phrase, I'm forcibly reminded that whether I like X or not, I have the suitable personality for it), I was curious about the unknown words you mentioned in the BAM app thread, the Driving Crooner. So I watched it on Netflix…seriously, I was so excited!! I must say thanks to you.

    Soliloquy
My creepy nerdy snobby brain feels potential in the Driving Crooner to be a subject of debate for philosophers and psychoanalysts, just as Edgar Allan Poe's novel The Purloined Letter was treated so. However, the debate happened more than 100 years after the novel was published in 1845. So I hope people these days live long enough for the sole purpose of confirming whether the DC is just a passing meme…my brain outputs this kind of boring sh…”automatic writing” when I'm tired. (I'm always tired.)
Anyway I'm really interested in the DC, it's true.

    (EDITED)
my brain outputs this kind of boring sh…”automatic writing”

The above text refers to my Soliloquy itself, not about the Driving Crooner.

There seems to be a lot of videos on the sounds of MJ.

  • “Dear child” (Liebes kind) on Netflix. Very entertaining

But Anthony Marinelli is the guy who actually created it. He has a good channel on YouTube.

If you like anime, then I strongly (really strongly) suggest "Black Lagoon".

Sadly it seems to be difficult to find the second season. Hulu in the US has season 1, so maybe I’ll have to wait until they add season 2 (if they do).

It has apparently been removed from Netflix on the 12 of September...WTF...

The second season is even better than the first. I hope you can find it somewhere...

  • Currently binging on One Piece on Netflix. Really enjoying it, too bad I only have one more ep. to watch 🥲

    Yeh that was good.
To my utter astonishment I’ve gotten a bit hooked on the anime. If you told me I’d still be going strong after more than 40 episodes I’d laugh in your face. Half the time I’m asking myself wth I’m doing watching this crap. But on it goes. I’m a bit worried it’s some symptom of onset of senility.

  • I noticed that the movie ‘Precious’ is on Max, and got round to watching it tonight. It has pretty dark subject matter, but the performances were highly praised on its release, so thought I’d give it a go.

Some of it is hard to watch and listen to, but there are some incredible performances in this movie. It’s not my typical choice of movie, but I was drawn in from start to end.

If you like vampire movies, tons of blood and gore and lots of observation humor, then the movie "Renfield" is highly recommended. Written by the author of The Walking Dead graphic novels (comic books) and the TV series. This movie is "bloody hilarious".

  • Watched about half of Beau is Afraid. I love Hereditary and Midsommar so was looking forward to this. Don't think I'll finish it and wouldn't recommend it. Was hoping the bad reviews were undeserved, but, sadly, they are very much deserved, imo

  • Murder By Contract
a grimy little gem from 1958 featuring an existential killer.
    It is very good.

  • A really bad hockey game. At least from my perspective

  • A Hard Day’s Night. I think I enjoyed it more first time around. Don’t seem quite as interesting this time.

  • Wife and I just watched the newest Hell House movie. It was good! I’m a sucker for horror films but that was probably the second best of the series.

Gonna watch the new David Fincher movie tomorrow.

We just finished this and it was quite good. Very lovely music too and excellent sound design all around.

  • Legacy Of Monsters on Apple TV. Better than I expected, but it needs more monsters.

The Killer. Has Michael Fassbender in it and has pretty good reviews so far. I’m a big Fincher fan though. Se7en and Zodiac are 2 of my favorite films ever.

  • Twin Peaks Fire Walk With Me. It’s David Lynch, what more do I have to say.

  • Not much, but whatever you do say be sure to say it backwards.

Just watched the Killer for 2nd time last night. Right up there with Finchers best work. Very good movie.

Might be my favorite second favorite Lynch film. It’s excellent but a very hard watch.
