Newcastle, NSW. 1981.

Oh yah. Second place for me would be Trout Mask era Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band.
Amy, for her sake.
Great photo! A really sad loss. I still listen to the Triffids/McComb a lot.
Duane Allman
I'd never thought I would have to write his name here one day:
ROY HARGROVE
May he rest in peace
Me too.
I have the story of that photo, but I'll start another thread.

Stevie Ray Vaughan
I was listening to that beautiful thing called "Wide Open Road" just yesterday morning.
So many great bands from there in a relatively short period of time: Triffids, Birthday Party, Scientists, The Moodists, Beasts of Bourbon, The Church, Severed Heads, Jim Thirwell's projects, Dead Can Dance, Crime and The City Solution, The Johnnys, These Immortal Souls, so many more...
During that time, it was an 80% probability an Australian band was spinning on my turntable.
As I've mentioned before, I saw them in a pub in Herne Hill (Half Moon) a thousand years ago and it's still one of the best gigs I ever have or ever will....
I envy you that. Gawd, they were so good.
Bowie, end of stowie....
I saw them at the Town and Country and did a Guardian review. Twas very positive indeed.
Hell of a summer.

Indeed. It was very apt.
Elliot Smith. Great songwriter beautiful voice.
Mozart, without question. He was only 35 when he died a gruesome death, not finishing his requiem in d-minor.
I would want to hear it finished by his own hand.
None of the members are dead (that I know of) but I would like to hear Danny Elfman get back to his roots a bit and knock me around with some new-old skool Boingo-style.
Aznavour of course!
