  • There is no such thing as too many delays. Two features that I’ve loved in other delays:
    1. Effects loop so that only the delays are affected; really cool to phase or tremolo the repeats only...
    2. High pass filter; there’s an old BOSS 1/3 rackmount series; one of them has this really beautiful filter. if you listen to Spacemen 3 or Spectrum you hear those beautiful high, ethereal repeats (Just to See You Smile from Recurring and the whole Soul Kiss album are good examples); it doesn’t seem as common as one would think...

You said Spacemen 3. Where's the Follow button on this thing?

If 1. is implemented, could use AUM's HPF to create 2. But, if not 1. then, please, 2.

Very impressed with your ears, sir.

Could you not just have a dry signal on one track and another track with a 100% wet delay followed by phaser, tremolo, HPF, or whatever else you want to throw on the repeats only?

Heck, you could even have a few tracks with different delay times and unique fx on specific repeats.
I am thinking AUM mix busses here, BTW.

  • It is going to have to do something really special to get me excited.

There is plenty of standard delays around, they all seem to do roughly the same thing, plus it is very easy to manipulate and sonically alter any of them to add character.

It's @brambos making an app. That alone excites most of us. Even if it was a flappy bird clone I think I'd blindly buy it at this point....

I’ll snag it just to encourage further developments. I’m sure it’ll be useful in some way though.

The free Rozeta stuff and general improvements more than warrant a bit of dev loyalty for my $.

  • Just to keep the hypemill in check: it’s all fairly standard stuff just to get my hands dirty with effects. B)

I’ll be out of town next week, but when I’m back I’ll make some demos.

I'm out for a week as well so the wait won't be too hard for me. Looking forward to the demos :)

I wonder, could it be possible to design a Brambos Audio Follow app. Might be technically impossible, or not something that enough folks would buy. But...

The kind of thing I have in mind, is something that can work out the tempo and key of an audio track, then send to a midi app to provide appropriate accompaniment. With randomisation, of course.

If anyone can do it, the Bos is the man.

I want a @brambos app that monitors the appstore and automatically buys and downloads everything he does :)

Heh. It's a multi-tap delay (with a maximum delay of 2 bars), combined with a tapeloop, autopan and ambience generator. And it can process the outgoing audio using the Haas effect (aka Wavefront Precedence Effect). Essentially anything I typically need to turn dry monophonic sounds into something spatial.

As I said in the tweet, it's mostly an experiment which I can put to good use myself because it was a set of tools I was missing in my AU toolbox. But I like it so much that I think I'll launch it. :)

And I'm calling the plugin "Kosmonaut: Space Explorer" B)

I'll get it just for the name's sake!

I am picturing that Astronaut dummy in the convertible Tesla cruising the Cosmos. :)

    Dummy!?!?

Yeah, it happened yesterday. Elon Musk shot a convertible Tesla into space. It has an Astronaut mannequin driving with Bowie’s Life on Mars playing on the stereo. It has Don’t Panic! on the in-dash display. It is supposed to go around the Sun, orbit Mars for a while, then head off into the vastness of the Cosmos. It was a test of the heavy booster rocket. The best part was the boosters came back to Earth and precision landed on a couple of landing pads!

Haha I saw it, I was just too opaque with my joke. I was implying that I thought it was a real man cruising through space in a convertible.

It WAS a real man, he just wasn't very smart!

Yep - it's a bad joke. Gimme a break - I'm a dad. I'm bound legally to a daily bad-joke quota, so I gotta get 'em in where I can...

:D “Dad jokes” are the funniest jokes, especially when your kids roll their eyes and become embarrassed. It’s a grand tradition you never understood at their age but understand once you have your own offspring. Cheers mate.

Dad jokes are my speciality..my daughter even requests them..."go on dad, tell me a dad joke".....the more eye rolling and groaning the better :D

She is mad on Harry Potter..I went to the shop and bought a couple of bottles of pop (soda).....when i got home I told her that they were Harry Potter pop..because they were " A quid (£) each"...she did try very hard, but couldn't help herself but laugh at my stupidity...and then went on to repeat the joke to all her school friends :D :D

Nah...keep the hypemill going....you understand how people want to use this stuff, and present it in a very usable way, that on top of your DSP expertise is what sets you apart ;)

If Apple see that comment, it might even happen. Imagine the extra revenue if customers really could set an auto buy option for favourite developers.

And nominate a default Apple affiliate to automatically get their cut as well, eliminating the need to click special links or append codes.

@brambos Could I use this thread to kindly ask you to consider (someday?) a basic AU midi recording sequencer app? Basically an app that records midi notes/cc over a few bars with quantize and shuffle features, basic piano roll editing... I think this is really missing at the moment and it would complement your other greatly designed apps really well. I love generative sequencers, but sometimes just adding a little modulation or note recording here and there would make it complete. I know there’s Beathawk, but it’s not really designed for this use and it’s a little hit-an-miss for the moment.

And I voted for your tap delay:)

Did someone say Spacemen 3?! Went through a bit of a phase listening to them a long time ago. Love Spiritualized as well!
