  • I would prefer it if I could draw the parameters in using (as well as the current method) splines and straight lines tools.

My thoughts exactly. Or hell, if the automation consisted only of curves rather than drawn data at all, kinda like how Auxy does it.

+1 and I do wish they would implement the 'smooth / stepped' switch per parameter from the hardware Electribes.
With 'smooth' Gadget would just interpolate between the points and 'stepped' jump to the value...

Best option at the moment is to turn quantise off for smooth automation. I emailed Korg with an extensive list of sequencer improvement ideas. They actually replied saying that they are "working on ways to make it easier to use" taking into consideration all the new features that have been/may be added since the initial release.

OMG, are they still going? I didn't have you down as a closet goth... (but it's now been noted in Johnny's Little Black Book).

One of the first to get ‘Who’s been sleeping in my brain’ album in my old home town way back when lol

  • Its not money, its a credit card.

    ;)

  • Besides Novation, find a more forward thinking multi app hardware company that has such quality and consistent in non "issue" apps.

    Get what you pay for.

There is a reason so many people use Gadget over Caustic

Korg just does it well in all aspects, including presentation.

Not sure what the point of this type of thread is.

OP, are you asking for money? Do you need help?

    If, so.

Probably should look at your spending habits. Glad to help you with a budget if you like................

Korg jumped the IOS train very early with iElectribe and iMS20.
They built convincing solutions that gained the platform some serious reputation.
Now that it turned out into success, why shouldn't they make revenues ? ;)

This was also true with the take up of VST in the PC world....

Korg and Novation were the first to offer VST versions of their own hardware.....most other manufacturers were happy to have VST's made and sold by third parties....even Yamaha (Who own Steinberg (Who invented VST) ) were happy for DX7 to be done by Native Instruments (FM7)

These 2 companies have enough confidence in their emulations and software products that they put their own name on them.

I have not got the latest Gadget IAP's...mainly because I uninstalled Gadget due to space restrictions on my old device....it is now back on my new device...and Montpellier especially is calling :)

Monopoly is very small and lighter on the CPU than say Ofessey or Module. Adjusting the semitones on the 4 oscillators makes for very rich house/techno chords and if your into Trance you can also get verylush pads or plucks out of it.

  • In my opinion the overall quality of the Korg apps is worth it even though there are always small things that can be improved with them. I'm really looking forward to what's cooking and will keep store-credits available when ever new Korg stuff drops...

  • I’ve gone down the rabbit hole watching Gadget videos and now I’m finding it even harder to resist. :D

I’m going to download the LE version tonight and give it another go. How many gadgets do you get with the full version, also just 3?

It's definitely more than 3 that's for sure.
And the 'other' apps add more (Module, iM1, iWaveStation, iMonoPoly, Odyssei etc.).

I’ve been trying to search for which gadgets you get but not having much luck. If you get quite a few then I’m not as put off buying Gadget as I was when I thought you only got three... my bad, seems a lot more worth it now. :p

i think you get around 12 gadgets with the regular version. Phoenix, Wolfsburg, Helsinki, Chicago, Kiev, London, Tokyo, Amsterdam, Miami, Marseille, Berlin, Dublin - maybe one i'm missing.

I've been using Gadget since it was first released (got on sale release price). I didn't get on with it for the first 3-4 months and put it aside for a few - but when I came back to it I never stopped. I love it.

  • Yeah you want to get it on sale... probably in the summer they'll drop everything down to half price again.

Your first IAPs ought to be Bilbao and Vancouver. You can make so with the rest of the stick Gadgets.

  • Okay I take it all back, 12 gadgets for that price isn’t that bad. :D

I’m not sure if I’ll be able to hold out until the next sale (think I just missed the last one).

Is Tokyo the one with the really nice analog drum sounds?

    Have you got Gadget LE?

From there you can use the app and hear demos of the IAP gadgets.

Had it but deleted it long ago. I’m gonna download it again tonight. Is it usable on iPhone as well? The UI looks really small, I’m hoping it’s easier in landscape.

Good to know....I like Odyssei..but as you say, it can be CPU intensive....I'd say I'm not into house/techno/trance, but in the same breath I couldn't tell you a tune from any of the modern (sub)genre's at all....and I probably make tunes in all of them unknowingly :D
I just created this thread https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/25098/genres-what-is-what if anyone wants to help me out ;)

Lush pads or plucks is language I do understand :)

Korg apps do go on sale regularly, usually over the xmas period, and when new Gadgets are released...you can save a lot by buying at the right time

yes, never need to pay full price for a korg app, to me it feels like they have a sale every 3-4 months. In fact, I was thinking to myself just a few days ago: isn't it about time Korg released a new update with a new gadget or feature thrown in by now? The updates usually seem to arrive without any announcement.

  • Get LE and wait until June July. In all likelihood everything will drop 50%. You ought to be able to save projects. You might just not be able to render any audio.

    Or don't :p

  • Yeah I can use LE to get familiar with the workflow in the meantime. I found it a bit confusing the first time around.

if 12 included Gadgets impress you, you may be happy to learn that it‘s actually 18 included Gadgets ...
the 12 that were mentioned above plus the 3 „fun Gadgets“ Amsterdam, Brussels and Kingston and plus the 3 newer Gagdets Zurich, Rosario and Recife.
So if you buy it on sale, it‘s just a bit over a $ per Gadget now.

  • One good sign of Korg releases is when Gadget goes on sale...

When it does it's just a matter of time before some kind of 'updates' drop.
Last time it was new IAPs for Module which in turn added new sounds to Gadget and minor tweaks to Gadget.

    Woohoo! B)

  • I'll add my 2 cents which is while I've paid a lot for Gadget, it's been worth every penny to me. I always buy things on sale, of course, but it's worth full price. Wouldn't be surprised if there's a "Spring" or "Easter" sale, to be honest...
