New Auria Pro update 2.17 is live but there may be a problem...

A thread on the Auria forum has been started re: crashes occurring following the new update. I’m experiencing the problem too so just spreading the word.

It’s not even letting me open a project. The logo screen comes up and the first time it just force closed, then after each attempt to relaunch it will create a new project. I’ve rebooted my iPad and after seeing a few others are getting problems too I’m thinking that reinstalling the app will help.

I’m on an iPad Air 2 running iOS 11.2.2 . If we must be on the very latest version of iOS for it to work it’s the first time in 3 years of having Auria then Auria Pro that that’s been the case. Usually the current and previous version or two work with the updates fine.

I know Rim will be on the case, hopefully it’ll just be a quick fix with a new update.

  • Here it opens just fine. IOS 11.2.6

  • F it. I’m updating to 11.2.6. I wanted to freeze eventually being on an Air 2 but if @theconnactic Dimitri says its working on his end....I’ll do it.

  • P.S.: oh, I found the issue, I think. It crashes when I try to use Pro L or Pro L2 (I just purchased the upgrade).

  • Thanks for the head’s up.

Do you still recommend updating to 11.2.6? Are you on an Air 2 or what?

  • I'm on an iPad Air 2 @ IOS 10.3.3, everything is fine with Auria Pro 2.17 including Fabfilters, but I haven't purchased Pro L2 upgrade yet. I guess the problem is related specifically to the Pro L2 upgrade, not IOS version.

We’re in the final stages of mixing the third RTM album, ad so dare not update until we’re really sure that this version won’t mess things up.

Especially concerning the Pro-L2 update, which we’d have trustingly added, if not for this forum.

Looking at the splendid new update for Cubasis, it would be nice if AP added similar functionality, plus track duplication including FX, drag and drop reordering of FX, and....oh yes, stability.

  • Latest iOS, no problems, including loading any Fabs incl. Pro-L, but have not purchased upgrade.

Thanks for the heads up. If anybody who already bought it tries a reinstall, post if that works.

Irritatingly, that update doesn’t even show up in the AP Store using previous version. So impossible to tell if it or the upgrade is at fault.

I updated to iOS 11.2.6 and there’s still intermittent problems & crashes. The project that was last loaded before I updated to the new version has not been able to be opened without a crash. I was able to play the individual tracks using the import file “browser” so I can set up another project with the recordings.

I haven’t upgraded to FabFilter L2 yet but will when the new update comes around. Because even if I can load a project and it plays etc. it’s still very volatile i.e. if I go to the tracks inserts and press the e/edit button on a FF plug in the app crashes.

But aside from that, iOS 11.2.6 on my Air 2 seems to be working fine with all else.

  • The code has to be added to Auria for Pro L 2 to work, hence the need to update.

  • @JRSIV have you tried loading a snapshot of the project? That can sometimes work. It does sound like there is some problem with the inserts though, hopefully it gets fixed fast.

  • Judging by the Auria forum it seems the problems are specifically related to Pro L 2

  • Latest iOS iPad Pro 12,9 Mark 1
    No problems
    Keine Probleme
    Ingen Problem

Yeah I checked the snapshots but they're all to a project I tried to load after I kept getting force closes/crashes when attempting to open the one that was last loaded before the update.

I don't know if it was in RAM and got corrupted or what. I haven't bought the upgrade Pro L so I don't know if it's a general bug or some kind of sdk type drivers that the FabFilter plugs need, etc. I am as amateur as they come with programming.

Thankfully Rim isn't and he'll sort it out. I sent full notes and information for every crash, as a dialog box would come up "explain what happened before crash" etc.

Hell it's 12AM here in Vegas, so they update just came out tonight an hour+ ago...I was surprised it was up on the AppStore that late, I'd been checking all day. Figured it would drop in the AM....

  • Hmm, then the best bet would be to sit tight, and wait for the fix. No worries, plenty of stuff to do, including the enticing Rozetta/Cubasis combo!

  • Yes, don't update if you can avoid it.

  • I’m in the middle of mixing a couple of projects in Auria, so thanks for the warning - I won’t update until I’m done with those.

  • cheers everyone for the heads up - i tried to find the update info in the Auria forum as the dev's never show description in the app store - and maybe they should from now and update the app store link with advice "Do not download this update till fixed" that would give people a heads up.

  • Too late for me - I get a crash whenever I try to load ProL (not ProL2) !

+1, it’s a pain having to dig around on the forum for the changelog.

  • This is from Rim on the Auria forum:

Looks like this is caused by a FabFilter issue and is only happening on Auria and Auria LE installations (or for users who upgraded to Pro). I'm working with FabFilter to determine the cause...

So my reading of this is that the issue only occurs with versions of Auria upgraded to Pro (ie Auria LE and the original Auria). People who have bought Auria Pro rather than upgraded an earlier version should be OK.

    Ok

Sadly I can't - I upgraded from the old version. I'm holding off the update until a fix is issued :)

  • Latest update from Rim:

I have identified the issue and am submitting a fix to Apple right now. Hopefully they can get it out by tomorrow.

This only affects Auria and Auria LE users (or users who have upgraded from Auria or LE to Pro).

In the mean time, I recommend NOT TO UPGRADE (unless you own Pro).

    Sorry for the trouble!
    Rim

Okay. I gather that the fix is already in. Auria Pro users who did not update are apparently safe, but I can wait a day. :)

  • So anyone else with Auria Pro got a working Pro-L2?

  • edited March 2018

Edit: Deleted, ProL2 glitches seem to be gone after a reboot. The new metering is wonderful

  • Had Auria sleeping so I attempted to download from my purchased list seems to load until about the third of the installment precursor is downloading then crashes asking me what I had done on the previous install with the message( Cancel or OK )pressing either button does nothing just crashes Auria app is still on but can’t get app to load ,using air pad 2 11.6.2 any ideas?
