LayR just got a BIG update with AUv3

I like it even before I’ve tried it.

  • Thanks for the heads up! Updating ... done.

You’re welcome sir. This blows my night away

  • I’ll bypass the debate and fast forward to the playing.

Chunky update to say the least, much more than “just” AU support.

  • I tried loading in AUM right after updating. No instruments or performances.
Killed AUM and launched LayR standalone solved that.
If you are updating, it is probably best to start it up standalone. That brings up a dialog regarding sound engine and then restores patches ...

  • Anyone with promo codes, gift cards etc just PM me. Thanks! ;)

Ok thanks for that info. It’s a milestone update, so I guess patches will follow if bugs are reported.

    Lookin fly brah

  • Is anybody running LayR on an Air2? Wondering about the performance since it seems pretty demanding. But sure would like to be able to use it if it runs good.

  • Was it always this black?

  • Ok - who knows the best way to migrate presets? Opened this up after updating for a hot second, looked at it, saw no presets and that's as far as I got (had to get back to work)....

So psyched to really dive into this one.

Solved above, I had the same problem. Open standalone first, not thru AUM or host.

Ah - I see. So you're saying I got too damn excited and just dove straight in to the good stuff without any foreplay?

    Yep, sounds about right.

I still don't like this one. Not for me, and the 'improved' labeling didn't do it for me. I did enjoy a nice romp through the brice arps though. Enjoy

Not a bug I think. Just needs to be primed in standalone first. BTW, loving this as an AU :) So far it's running about 30 to 40 percent CPU in AUM with one instance on my 1st gen iPad Pro. Handles very dense midi streams from TC-Data with ease.

    'very dense midi streams'

Yoink! Stealin that for my 1985 sitcom pilot

Hey, are there any good tutorial videos on this one yet? I dove in a bit after launch and was a bit daunted. It's not horribly complex, but it did require a bit more sound synthesis skill/knowledge than I had at the time.

Have there since been any good walk-thru tutorials? Not of the simple clicking through presets variety (I can manage that much on my own, thank you very much) ;) but of the more in-depth variety... similar to sort the Pants of Death dude used to do?

Psyched about this update, tons of wished-for tweaks and refinements, and new Brice brilliancies...!

Fly in the ointment: Au version not opening in Cubasis, MTS...

    Opens in AUM, Auria Pro.

Hi @LivingMemorySoftware hope there’s a hotfix for these other hosts, or

confirming it doesnt work in Cubasis and the arpeggio presets seem to not really work in BM3, they start then stop playing, otherwise really psyched about the update.

  • I accidentally deleted all my user presets. So guys when the app updated it downloaded all my user pr sets but was that from the old app?

  • AU Froze GB for me. But have to say, I totally expected the AU to be unstable. :D :( :D

I really can’t blame the synth imported a bank and it overwrote my bank. Should have backed up though.

    The Synth sounds magnificent though!

When MM4C is saying "OMG", you know things are getting serious.

  • There used to be a setting for pro screen layout and one for iPhone layout, or something like that. Is that setting now gone?

  • I just downloaded and played with the update. Two major thumbs up!!! It’s like a whole new app!!! Features galore, and it sounds fantastic!!

It works well (All my presets were made on Air2). Amount of AU versions on Layr on Air2 at once will depend on the presets. Remember part of what makes Layr so great is that one performance patch is in effect a whole bunch of individual synths layered up to give complex and evolving sounds. If you have a whole bunch of performance patches running at once that is going to hit CPU issues eventually and you will need to bounce tracks to audio in your DAW if you want to stack 10 Layr patches into one track.
