  • So just went to their webpage and saw they also have it available an an AU/VST and AAX for desktop and they have a demo, the sound drops in and out of the demo, but its still good enough to demo it, Im liking it, and the desktop version is $19 ( 50% off ) So yeah...just pulled the trigger on the IOS version.

  • Sweeet. Was looking forward to this one. Thanks for the scoop

  • Tape speed would be the cherry on top!

  • I've been beta testing this for a couple weeks and it is fantastic. I use it primarily for the distortion when you increase the input gain. I've been using this on everything - including a jam I was farting around with just before popping over here.

Purchased - such a great app.

  • That’s great I’ve dusted off my old tape deck and I found one of my demagnetizers

  • Will be nice to see how this compares to the MSX Audio tape thing once it's released :)

@samu that msx tape thing looks pretty good but also kind of weird. I've only seen videos where you 'perform' the settings. Like you hold a button to toggle tape sim/pitch etc on/off like a performace effect. Which is probably useful (tho they've missed a trick by not adding Lfos....) but hoping there are also latch modes just for regular colouring of a track and warble.

I prefer to keep things simple. There's always the possibility to route Rozeta LFO to any parameter :)
(I do wish more hosts would have AUM-Like midi routing though).

  • probably doesnt conpare to satin, but looks cool for ios.

  • just listenwd to the demo on the website and it sounds amazing for what it is. definitely comprable to a stripped-down u-he satin, especially as an AU.

Man, the pull of nostalgia is hard on this one. I used Tascam cassette PortaStudio's for so many years in my home studio. But not all of the cassette sound was great, I mostly loved the way it bloomed & warmed up the bass frequencies especially when pushed with some hot levels.

The web version at least didn't ape that quality, no matter the level you get a part of the cassette "sound" over everything. Is that $7.99 the sale price? I could see $4 or so but $8 seems stiff for a very specialized AUv3 effect....

As you say @Strizbiz, the struggle is real and my appoholism may have me rolling on this thing too...

Early adopters: more feedback & thoughts please.....

  • who needs "nice tape"? U know how we do.

  • Anyone reckon how long the "sale" will last?

  • Intro price valid until 7 May 2018 it said in their e mail

  • Can you automate the AU parameters?
Was hoping it might be a little cheaper but seems the best on iOS so far for a tape effect and AU to boot.

  • I agree with @JRSIV, the saturation you used to get with the old 4 track cassettes would be most appealing thing....I am also interested in feedback reports to see if that is there.
Although I can think of other less frequent uses...hmmm...I'll see what happens on payday LOL

And yes it does bring back memories of degaussing....thank heavens we don't have to worry about that sort of thing any more :)

  • I’m waiting for a Doug demo

The saturation is lo-fi 'cassette-ish'... A lot of that will depend on what quality/model/speed/NR people are using in their heads as a reference though.. Sounds more like cassette than anything currently available as AU tho and is only $8, so if lo-fi's your thing it's a no-brainer atm...

You can demo it online I think?

Thanks I'll give it a try, but its already been mentioned that the web version doesn't really have it....I'm waiting til I have some funds before I try though, in case I start to feel the withdrawl symptoms.....Oh wait......
MUST HIT BUY...MUST HIT BUY...MUST RESIST...MUST HIT BUY
    Damn! :D

We don't have to wait long these days. :)

What would we do without our Doug Demos?

I like the effect, seems to add pleasing warmth.

Not sure I really NEED it but don't mind funding quality devs in a niche market ...

Weird, in Cubasis Tape Quality and Motor Quality are missing ... Head Quality OK. Other controls fine.

I'm guessing this a bug, don't see why they couldn't be tweaked.

(edit) Have emailed support, will update here accordingly.

(edit 2) After an impressively swift response it’s confirmed as a bug (for me at least). All controls automatable in BM3 for me though.

(edit 3) After an equally impressive follow up it’s suspected as a Cubasis issue.

Going to reboot and try again ...

Thanks for the report, had a quick go on the VST demo version and will pick up the iOS version a bit later :)
