Yes Moebius Labs synth is a lot of fun
Cubasis, AUM, and Tonestack. I have BM3 but haven't learned it yet.
Do you use Tonestack in host mode much? I always found it problematic while hosting, but that was right at the start of that feature and haven’t got the app on my iPad anymore
I split my time between AUM & Cubasis, with a tiny bit of Auria for good measure.
I don't understand BM3.
Moebius Lab is insanity. I could lose myself in there for hours, so I try to pick my moments.
Yeah MLab is such a time sink. Stick LFOs on everything and lose hours trying to work out what’s happening lol
Tell me about it. I did just that in mood - one of the patches in my bank has an LFO on any parameter affecting pitch. They're all running out of sync with each other and it's mind blowing just playing a single key and hear the cacophony.
Yeah kind of reminds me of an old app that used to have similar abilities of warping certain parameters, but this is much better. I think in some ways that’s one slight flaw with some of their apps - complexity of ideas - almost no limits to what you can do and sometimes it gets messy lol. Yeah having too much freedom making sounds is an odd thing to complain about I know
I bought the motherlode IAP last Black Friday and haven't really had the need to load any external apps since then.
I don't know if this works in Apesoft, but:
I like to limit any patch to a small number of LFOs. Three is usually plenty. If I want to modulate something, I use one of the LFOs I'm already using. I think this makes the sound more cohesive.
AUM
BM3
Moebius Lab
I do too mostly. Other times I see if I can destroy the sounds to see if I can find any beauty in the chaos
Moebius Lab seems more popular than I thought...cool
FOR SURE - I am a firm believer in the idea that having limitations in fact makes you MORE creative. That being said, with mood being SO untethered to reality, I find myself forcing myself out of my comfort zone more just to be wacky. I'll be playing around and end up designing a sound completely different than anything I would come up with otherwise. A rare case of the opposite being true...
i have to carry at least 4 iOS 10 iPads so I can have that many instances of Alchemy running.
AUM and BM3
Right. Should’ve specified their two most recent synths.
Yes it’s a trend that has become boring. I’m looking at Roland and Behringer here mostly. Roland should be thinking forward, not 40 years in the past.
I initially thought this was in reply to the pooping comment. It was amazing, that moment.
Ouch. I traded my old Juno-106 for the original novation bass station because I was moving across the sea. Also ouch.
How come all AB Forum threads end up about poop? I did notice it’s a quagmire of shit in that 2nd version drum machine thread now - such attachment to their beloved that any conversation about new ideas is poo poo’d
I’ve been good today. Brand new shiny apps out - StepPolyArp Unit and Synthmaster One - not bought yet, as I opened up Kronecker and started making new sounds!
Funny thing is, I think sometimes we all often pass by the nearly new for the really new. I could see myself at one time sitting down with excitement programming sounds on Synthmaster One and forgetting the wonder that is Kronecker. Already many talk of it as it’s just another app like or the same as Mersenne or LaPlace.
The same happened with Volt. Because there was no instant love, it ended up getting cast aside before I’d even really given it a real chance.
Maybe I need to use the old adage: a new app is not just for Christmas!
yeah, i have cleared lots of unused apps recently. got a new phone and the damn backup restore wouldn't load so i took advantage of the situation and only loaded what i know will produce results if i'm out somewhere...gadget, seek beats and the newly downloaded but still not understood diff drummer.
on the iPad i deleted tons, modstep cubasis, bm3, etc... i think it helps because having the apps on the iPad, even in a folder named "unused apps", still kind of gives me a feeling that maybe i should use it,...since it's right there,...one more chance, and i end up wasting time.

Ah, now this is the benefit of being one of a few.
Like you, I have many, many music apps, and do regular culls of what is not likely to be used. Like you, I am here most days, chipping in here and there. Unlike you, I have fellow RTM, who may read this forum, but leave it to me to be the gob.
So projects move onward, and I always get to play my part. Mostly lyrically, sometimes musically. But if I had to do the lot, there wouldn’t be enough hours.
I agree and use the same methods.
Agree, I always used to look at them. I tried to make it occasionally, but it became often. The amount of times I tried to justify the amount I spent on Korg apps that never fitted in with my flow, but hey, they cost a bomb added up - so I had to use them.....didn’t I ?
A long time ago before I moved ‘down south’, I too used to make music with others. It worked better than being alone. I’ve tried doing the online music thing, but it just doesn’t work for me. Face to face, same room is the only way I can make music with others.
It’s kind of like a large part of me is missing when I make music alone. Now I just dabble for fun times and leave the finished songs to the distant memory

I love a good dabble.
More than half the music apps I own play no part in anything that gets finished, they’re just a lot of fun to fiddle with,
I just got the old iPad 2 my kid was using and reset it. I am planning on using it for old vintage apps that didn’t survive the 64bit transition. Kid is on the iPod Touch 6th gen now.
I went through my purchased apps and found so many I had forgotten about! It was like scrolling through a huge list of free apps, many of which I couldn’t even remember what they do in particular. I recommend this to any appaholics who are in need of a fix, but nothing new is in sight. I will having fun for many days rediscovering some of these treasures I have stashed away.
