  • @motmeister The save project functions seem quirky to me too. It took multiple tries before I was able to successfully name & save. Good luck with 11.4

I know, right? Apple’s newest release always needs a couple of weeks to “season” before I usually succumb. And their effing pop up reminders that there’s a new release [rolling eyes] irritate the crap out of me.

  • Good news, I found the MIDI Export bug and fixed it. The update will be released later today.

  • is there a video of this anywhere?

    +1

  • How do you set rhythms?

  • @eross, @Frenq, I don't have a youtube video but in iOS App Store, you can see the 30sec app preview video in the ArpBud's page.

@cian, you can use the "Rate" step property button in the pitch sequencer. Also, you can change the tempo from the project's settings menu.

  • Gotcha. Definitely an intriguing app.

Fabulous! I’ll be watching for it!

This is really really fun. It’s a different conceptual model to sequencing so it’s making me come up with things I wouldn’t come up with in other sequencers. Love the speed control on the bottom.

Is there a way to set the gate length that I’m missing? If not, request numero uno.

Couple of other requests if they fit in with the plan... none a huge deal. Just thinking out loud.

    • start and stop the sequence with AB3 start and stop button
    • Option to auto load the last project
    • Option to automatically show the current active pitch step’s interval sequence while it’s playing back. Preferably something always visible so you can toggle it on and off easily in case you want to edit a specific one.
    • The label “Arpeggio” on the pitch sequencer was a little confusing. Thinking it might make more sense (to me anyway) if it said Direction.
    • Having the “speed” option also available on interval steps would allow for more complex rhythms
    • Some way to copy the entire interval sequence so that if all you want is “0, 12, 5, 12” but with different notes, you can set it up quickly.
    • yes please, to your offer for a few more CC parameters. Maybe 4 that’s you would set in the MIDI config? Though it would be best if they saved with the projects.
    • On screen method to add steps like a plus sign always appended to the end of the list.

    Thanks for the feedback!

    • You can use the AB3 start/stop button, if you enable start/stop option in the Ableton Link popup, in the project settings menu.
    • Also, you can copy/paste sequencer steps by long pressing them.
    • Adding a MIDI gate is in my roadmap, I'll probably add it in next update.
    • I tried to add rate or speed option to interval sequencer but it didn't work well actually. It kinda messed up the Ableton Link sync and stuff. So I limited to apply it only pitch sequencers.
    • Adding an option for auto switching to current playing interval sequencer is a great idea. I can add it to the project settings menu with an on/off switch control.
    • Maybe I should think about adding a MIDI CC matrix that you can set each of them, how does it sound? I actually want to keep things simple as possible for this app, but if its gonna help you out, why not :)
    • Adding a plus sign to the end of the steps, definitely gonna think about it!

Not sure if I’m doing this wrong or if it’s a bug: I have two pitch steps. The speed of the first is set to 1/4 and the speed of the second is set to 1/2. Both have four step internal sequences. The second step triggers its first note on the “and” of the beat established by the 4 steps previous to it. I should be able explain that better, I know!

Attempt two: If you count the first as 1234, you would expect the second at half speed to be 1-3-1-3- where the dashes represent rests on 2 and 4 across two bars (since it’s 4 steps at half speed). Instead it plays 1234 for the first and then -2-4-2-4. Hope this is making sense. I’m a music theory cave man.

  • As mentioned by Andy earlier, AU Midi please. It’s pretty much AU or not interested for myself - it could be a free app, non AU and would not even get a download now from myself :)

  • I’m actually having lots of trouble getting it to sync with LINK. Anyone else? Starts immediately instead of waiting for the link quantum (if I have start/stop enabled in the link settings) and then is basically never in sync. Restarted my iPad and recreated the simple 4 step test sequence in MIDI Steps and the Link sync was solid. When I switch back and forth between ArpPal and MIDISteps by muting and unmuting the mixer channels, ArpPal remains out of sync and MS remains solid so I don’t think it’s something weird with my link setup but it I might be wrong.

if I have enough responses for an ArpBud AUv3 MIDI, I'll start to make it.

Let’s just say you do have enough responses for AU MIDI. Take it as a given.
Now, let’s find some help to make the project go as smoothly as possible.
    Did Bram’s documentation help? http://ruismaker.com/au-midi-plugins/
Is there anything in AudioKit Pro which can make this as obvious as possible?

    Same here. Never in sync.

@cem_olcay this is the link issue we talked about with Chord Bud! Waiting for the link quantum is the expected behavior for pretty much everyone. Otherwise everyone is driving at the same speed in totally different directions. ;)

Yes AU would be very cool indeed.

  • Just bought the app, it's promising and deserves our support. Let's go for AU ;)

  • How about we fix this one first? It exists, it has some problems, and we already paid.

  • @cem_olcay but need to see more of this app before buying.

  • @cem_olcay I would buy this if it was AU as well. I can no longer afford to buy any more IAA apps to then have to re-buy them again when the AU version comes out.

    Good luck with it!

  • @cem_olcay The fix is in! Midi export working properly. Haven't checked Link yet but the app has improved already. Thanks for the quick response. Keep up the good work. With a few more improvements this could be a go-to app for fast sequencing. I'll also cast a vote for AU. Thanks again.

  • Thanks for the midi export fix! It works exactly as I hoped. If you build a great sequence, sometimes you want to be able to use it places where a sequencer doesn’t fit. As for making it AU, that would be great, but it’s still quite useful without it.

For good publicity’s sake, think the Link issue needs to be fixed before Mr. Doug shouts the goodness of the app from the YouTube rooftops.

@cem_olcay we’re you able to reproduce this one? I actually recreated it in an AudioBus State saved preset in order to share it with you but looks like ArpPal doesn’t support AB state saving. Yet, I hope!

  • I can‘t get this to control other stuff via MIDI in AUM ... I always have to use it as an Audiobus port ... is there no way to directly use it as an Audio Unit Extension?
