I wanted to add that right now, you were faster
You are welcome!
Classic iTunes file sharing.
Just had an answer from Harry@Virsyn, they still work on the update, it’s not finished yet. It will come.
Perfect time for a sale, right as 4Pockets drops their similar app hahah
I'm pretty sure that's the intention. But that doesn't work for me--I own them both! Hehehe!!
Oh my. I know we are excited for an update, but...
Snagged it !!!
So I guess one cannot just download to their iOS device? Download from desktop and transfer to iTunes?
Yes you can. Please read the Apple docs on how to access files of an app using iTunes.
This has nothing to do with the iTunes music library.
Does it have these basic editing features yet
I'd sure love to find a manual for this app! The developers don't respond to any of my questions.
And what about those of us who use Linux and don't have iTunes? Is there a way to get files into the app? I haven't figured out how to do it.
I seem to remember people having success running the Windows version of iTunes in wine on Linux. Perhaps that could work?
You can get files into the app with the Files app. You can use AudioShare to transfer files via Wi-Fi and a file browser from a computer. ITunes isn’t needed. If you have macOS you can use Bluetooth file sharing.
Thank you! I had no clue what everyone was going on about iTunes file sharing.
libimobiledevice > ifuse.
I do recommend using iTunes anyway, at least for backing up your valuable ipa app versions because in iOS, that's the only way to go back to a previous app version ( KORG might remove grid lines in Gadget's piano roll, apeMatrix might have its compressor/expander removed etc etc, as we have seen, you never know!)
I don’t believe you can restore old app versions with recent iTunes versions. Didn’t they remove that capability around the time iOS 9 or 10 was launched?
I'm using v12.5.5, don't know about other versions.
Never really explored this app .. and it is really nice..
Would be nice if we can purchase sample libraries (like BeatHawk)..
Hello guys.this goes to all the AudioLayer users who use the app for drums in Cubasis and want to use the Pad instead of the keyboard.most of you probably know this already.but it just came to mind some few hours ago.this is something i always wanted to be able to do and the funny this is that the feature has always been right infront of me all these months 😂😂😂 anyway.here is how to do it.
PSA video.. Thanks AudioDabbler.. Importing ESX files..
Something cropped up in another thread ref modulation of the sample start parameter (often used in glitch drum programming).
Does anybody know if this is an automatable parameter in AudioLayer?
No, it isn’t.
That would be an interesting challenge with AudioLayer as there are virtually unlimited samples and layers per patch. You couldn’t expose those parameters in an AU parameter list in any practical way. You could have midi-learn, but the bindings would literally have to be stored per sample, and would be invalid for any other patch.
unfortunately not yet. We only have FX automatable in AudioLayer so far.
But you could manually have the same sample trigger at different points using velocity layers and set things up that way. Not practical for large instruments but definitely useful for lots of situations like drum kits.
@wim thanks.
I'm piling through the thread at the moment attempting the suss out whether AudioLayer is for me but in truth I do very little sample based stuff in iOS other than Reslice and a few other granular things. However I have a big single cycle waveform collection I've collated over the years (mainly use these for building custom wavetables); and these could prove to be the big use-case for me. However I think AudioLayer might be lacking deeper synthesis tools and modulation capabilities at the moment, which is a bit of a surprise to me seeing that this is a VirSyn product.
I'm really hoping AudioLayer moves beyond being an EXS24 clone for iOS. Big Ass sample libraries simply aren't something I feel the need to have access to on iOS. But a great sampler with a bunch Tera synthesis modules, that's something I could definitely make use of.
The other thing AudioLayer seems to be in desperate need of is a communal sharing mechanism (I know I'm not the first to mention this, but thought it was worth reiterating). Whether you look at Ableton's Sampler, EXS24 or KONTAKT on the desktop(three picked at random), the core reason people purchased them in the first place was to use third party libraries. People don't generally purchase sampler plugins to create sample libraries. I worry if VirSyn doesn't find a way to create downloadable content (be that from the community or commercial third party offerings) it could end up being abandoned due to lack of take-up. Looking at its sales history on the likes of iosnoops.com it's clear that it's far from a runaway success.
@Carnbot Only just seen your reply. That's an interesting workaround.
Ableton's Sampler is a great example of how to make this kind of stuff accessible, usable and creatively worthwhile. The whole Sampler/Simpler paradigm is invaluable in removing unnecessary complexity when it's not required. People don't just use multi-sample capable Samplers to utilise multi-layer samples.
I just spotted this reply from VirSyn on the subject of automation (on page 15). Posting it again here for anybody that might have been seeking the same information as me.
If it only was!
It's not even close to the power of the original EXS24 from about 20 years ago. So much missing, especially in the modulation and control department.
It does its job with instruments that don't really need any detailed control like acoustic piano, chromatic percussion, drums etc.
Ok finally got through all 31 pages and have decided at this stage AudioLayer isn't for me. Which is a first for one of Virsyn's top line apps. My reasons for passing it by are:
I have a huge admiration for Harry and have used his instruments and tools for close to 20 years so I hope that AudioLayer becomes more flexible as a sample manipulation/synthesis tool in the short term. Should Apple ever provide proper file management and heaven forbid real time access to external storage/SD storage I'll happily add AudioLayer to my toolkit, even if it doesn't develop much further than it's current capabilities.
Reading the thread I can see that others are happy to build massive sample sets for use in AudioLayer, my feedback is strictly from a personal perspective as I know that Harry reads this thread from time to time.

It seems pretty clear that there is a sizable audience for just such a thing.
