Audio Evolution Mobile DAW now officially supports the iPhone!!!
This app is awesome!!! It's like having Auria on the iPhone!!! It's so easy and straightforward to use, and has full automation, bussing, and even built-in plugins from ToneBoosters as IAPs!! Pro Soundfonts as IAPs as well!!! Did I mention easy to use? It is almost as if it were built for the iPhone!! The controls are all there and very easy to use!!! This is probably the most powerful DAW available for the iPhone now!! Think of it this way--just like Xequencer is the best midi editor for iPhone, Audio Evolution Mobile DAW is the best full-blown DAW for the iPhone now!! This ups the ante for iPhone usage!!! I am so excited!!! (can you tell from all of the !!!!! marks I'm making? Hehehe!!!)
AND, as it has from the beginning, it supports iPad as well. This is a Universal app for only $7.99!!!!! What! A! Steal!!!

This thread needs a video... Is there one that shows the iPhone experience?
I've never made a video before. The beauty is that it works nearly identically to the iPad version (and Android as well--plus all the iOS AU, IAA, AB, etc goodies). It is really so well designed that the interface works great!
Has Doug made any videos for this? @thesoundtestroom
In the meantime, here is a bunch of Youtube videos that you can check out:

+1 agree!
I just downloaded the $11 orchestral pack from the in-app shop. These instruments are really quite good, and I think they sound better than any of the other major DAWs' built-in instruments. You get tons of different ensemble and solo instrument combinations and playing styles - stings, brass, woodwinds, percussion. Slap on a some ToneBoosters reverb on the master track and you're ready to compose away, quickly without the headache of worrying about too many AU instances causing crashes. For my style of music, this is what I've been waiting for I think.
That's awesome! I may be buying them myself after I've gone through my gigs and gigs of soundfonts and decided what I want to use and what I don't.
By the way, I believe, IIRC, these soundfonts are all professionally done and licensed through Digital Sound Factory. So they are all pro sounds, and some of them may even be original samples direct from hardware modules.
Looks like you have to pay again if you’ve already bought it for ipad?
Don’t think so.
I agree with @BiancaNeve I don't believe you have to pay again, but rather, it is just an iPad app that went Universal.
Well, it's cheap enough and doesn't require a subscription, so if it DOES cost money to get it on iPhone too, so be it. Actually, it says "iPhone App" under its page on the Appstore, so that's rather generous. ^^ Gonna get some IAPs for it now that it's on the iPhone! Bloody ripper.
To me, it's the most complete DAW for the iPhone in existence currently. It seems to have everything one would expect from a DAW. And it's so EASY!! Once one learns how to use everything, it stays completely out of the way and allows the work to get done. I'm not saying it's perfect--there's lots of small things I would change. But I truly think this is the best DAW to come around for us iPhone users! I'm happy!!
A perfect environment in which to mix down Gadget stems/Auxy stems/stems from both those apps, and others too.
Yeah! It is already starting to replace my current MixDown app--MultiTrack DAW
So one of the IAP’s says Pro? Does anyone know what that includes?
Hmm. What’s the built in keyboard situation? Scales?
Also, if I just hit record and play for several minutes, how easy is it to quantize, chop out the best parts, and rearrange them?
Did you download the trial/lite version? If so, that IAP is probably the full version. Is the Pro IAP $6.99?
The full version I think. It's only a one time payment of $5.99 as opposed to a "pricing scheme that shall not be named".
The keyboard situation: I piano keyboard layout with Chromatic key placement--the standard.
The answer to your second question is "YES"! It is very easy to play, quantize, and chop out the best parts and rearrange them. I tested it just now to be sure I was giving you accurate information.
I like it. Seems light on CPU and battery, but that probably depends on the plugins.
By the way, you can use "Open In" and import your own sound fonts too! :-)
The app costs $6.99 and the PRO Features are $5.99
So I am only on my 7plus due to my iPad being stolen so I never downloaded the trial version. Is there a trial version for iPhone? I haven’t seen one? Anyways so basically the full version for iPhone is like thirteen bucks? Right? Plus about, say...... $20 for the IAP’s that I have to have.....effects, EQ’s, ect? Does this sound about right?
Yes, that sounds about right
I was worried it was going to charge me for the iPhone version because it showed a price and made go through ‘confirm purchase’ and all that, but once I did that I was relieved to get the ‘you’ve already purchased this app so there is no charge’ message.
Question: is there no preferences/options screen in the app?
How is the piano roll? Still haven’t found one I like on iOS.
Yes, there is a preferences screen. It can be found by selecting the “More” button with the “...” icon.
The piano roll is pretty standard for iOS apps: Chromatic, piano keys (resizable), mod wheel, pitch wheel, sustain, etc
You can also switch to drum pads or use another keyboard app if you find one that you like.
And,of course, you can use a real midi keyboard as well.
Wow, this is pretty cool. So, the app was a freemium DAW until today, and is now $6.99, plus the additional PRO unlock features for $5.99 or whatever. Glad I downloaded it on my iPad for free to check out.

On iPhone, it's pretty well-adapted to the small screen. "Music Studio" by Alexander Gross (http://appshopper.com/music/xewton-music-studio) is probably the closet thing I can think of feature-wise, but this seems more straightforward. AU instruments and effects seemed to work, and there's quite a bit of free and IAP effects available in the app.
How do you quantize MIDI data?
Don't want to make a habit of sinking money into new DAW's I may not use, but this may be worth at least the pro upgrade as an on-the-go sketchpad for hardware I want to record via my UCA202 interface.
Pre Quantize happens when you set note (length) params in the piano roll on the right upper, and when you set grid on top mid control bar (lots of snap to choices) and when in edit mode in piano roll you can lasso notes after the fact and select quantize button on upper right, and set quantize value there, also allows you to quantize whole track at once
I’m digging this, and almost exclusively with sF2, the included and iap stuff. The shop soundfonts are very tasty, and I’ve also given in to loading it up with a ton of other random sf. I’ve collected over the years. The phone version is a breakthrough for that platform.
Is Audio Evolution now a universal app? That's what I thought after the thread.
Have the iPad app but for the download of the iPhone version the AppStore ask me to pay again 7;99€. I don't dare to press the buy button... 😎
Yes, it is universal. I’m not sure why it shows cost. Another person saw that as well, but when buying it, it didn’t charge them.
