Whooda thunk a random thread about shed could be so interesting. Thanks @Approach Had no idea MkII was out that long. A 37 and 49 key that popped up at my local pawn shop have been calling me since I saw them sitting so hopelessly between overused power tools. Time to go rescue one.lol

We keep our power tools in the house. My wife is a big fan of power tools.....maybe I should not have said that.....

nick drake sang a song about a man in a shed. maybe he was singing about you?
wish my garden was big enough for a shed

Please post the song if you can find it!

Having moved home over the holidays, I was happy to see their had been a small shed left in the garden.

I think you’ve inspired me to move my old crap out of my wonky shed. Or move my old crap out of the massive brick garage I could be using.

Maybe l’ll just get another shed.

Yeah sheds are cool....sometimes cold even lol

Got a decent sized shed here, and hoped to use it for music, but it leaks like mad when it rains. I’ve re-roofed it, replaced loads of boards in the panels, sealed the windows etc., but every time it rains it ends up soaked inside. Got a few rats living in it now, so that’s that, garden equipment and associated Monzo family junk is all its good for now.

Yeah, once they really go, it’s rebuild or forget it!

That’s the thing, I’ve fixed all the potential places it could leak, but it still does. It’s like someone goes in there when I’m asleep and throws a few buckets of water about.

We had a really large shed left when we moved into a house a few years back. It was really big and I was so excited. Problem was, it was so damp. Not by leaking when it rained, but by the ground being so sodden (the area used to be an old flood plain). They simply had not built the supports high enough from the water level, hence the water had just soaked in over time! We pulled it down and started to build a pond instead. Then moved again lol

  • I would love to do a shed thing......but here in Florida, I am not paying to install AC in a shed I still need to build.......

I am lazy man music maker who likes the creature creator comforts of my home studio...........

I sometimes have fond memories of my long gone home studio. Wires and racks. Keys upon keys. Cabling and heat. Mad crazy mains hum. Faulty midi cables. Disk drives of all kinds buzzing away. Multiple monitors and mice. The electric bills hidden away...

I won’t shed any tears, I had a child young (16) and she finished high school early and is now off to college...so guess who’s got the perfect space for fully AC home studio. Just gotta do something about all of these Beyonce posters on the walls. :#

I’ve had one loop playing over in RC (with occasional notes added) while playing over it with the four sounds in BM3 for the last 20 minutes. Was kind of relaxing. Wished I had recorded it though - I was in the zone.

So for years I didn’t use my garage as a techno cave because I thought it would be too hot during the summer but after buying a big ass fan it’s actually pretty nice. I just point it straight at me and go to town. Nights are especially nice and I sometimes prefer it to my house with ac. AC dries my sinuouses out. I’m in NC so we have similar heat. Lowe’s has a nice selection of industrial strength big ass fans.

When I’m just playing and really relaxed, sometimes it just flows. When I’m recording, I stop feeling the moment and looking for those cues. Everything then becomes regimented and I may as well just enter the notes straight into a sequencer - don’t we all get this at times?

Lol@big ass fans. Man...I’m no pussy but I’d be scared to be in my garage with the lights out at night (a must for me when I record). The things that go bump, buzz and bite in the Florida night’ll mess around kill my ass while I’m jamming out. :#

Plus recording vocals require fan off and I’m dark enough now. 15 minutes in high heat...extra crispy.

For now, I’ll stick to butt naked jamming in the privacy and AC of my house. Nothing gets your creative mojo flowing like jamming in your birthday suit. With or without your lady it’s the way I promise. Sorry for oversharing but don’t knock it till u tried it.
