hmm maybe a wave shaper? or wave folder ?

    Hopefully With a built-in synth :)
(I think I'll start to formulate a request to APESoft to add additional modulator types to it, like a step-sequences/custom LFO waveform, 16 steps with stepped/smooth option should cover a lot, like the XLFO in Mood).

  • Isn’t that something like livingtrees shaper (layr dev) and shaper by K-Devices.
    Or grind by AufioDamage?

If so, they got me covered really good

wooo i totally guessed it........ Wasn’t there a prize for guessing ..... yes.... no... yes, anyone. 😉 looks pretty sweet!
oh wait that’s not the right brand lol. oh well always exited to see what they put out next

  • They keep cranking out, I'll keep buying

  • Degrader is a combined resampler and bitcrusher plugin. It can be used to simulate the sound of vintage digital gear, as a lofi-effect or distortion unit. Since all parameters are fully automatable it’s a handy plugin for creating unique and interesting drops, sweeps and other transitions.

  • Tried it with PPG WaveMapper and my first impression is that it sounds great!

  • Maybe useful for some.

perhaps the will release the long awaited SVNSK or SWDSH synth lol

  • I gotta say it sounds really good. The control set is great and simple, and the pre/post low-pass is a nice touch. The filter sweeps you can get will be a nice useful effect for some. Seems not possible to save presets though, even though there are 25 or so that come with it.

I haven't used Shaper in a while, so I can't provide a valid comparison. It's a different thing entirely than Grind, but definitely more tameable than that monstrosity (it's ok, just my least-favorite Audio Damage release).

Saturn reigns supreme for degradation effects, but I like this one. Klevgrand always puts a nice little spin on things and their apps, this including, have a character to them that I find pleasing.

Yup - been digging this in beta for a couple weeks. It sounds really good and is still different enough from the others I have to keep it in the stable.

They're killing it lately with these effects.

Yup, this and dawcasette (+re1, but differet dev...) have made me way happier with iOS sound design. Good times ahead :)

DAW Cassette, DAW LP, RX950, and to a lesser degree Lo Fly Dirt and Fly Tape, but those last two don't get much play lately.

And yes - the saturation in RE1 is delightful as well but that app does SO much more...

  • Sounds killer on 808 and Linns. Especially if you use the hi q pre filter and the lo q post filter. Combined with a little apeMatrix modulation and baby you got a stew goin!

  • You can get some good sweeps going driving this with Rozeta LFO inside AUM.

I've not yet taken the plunge but are the lo-pass filters in Degrader adjustable?
(Ok, it's fixed to half of the sample-rate).

would you mind elaborating on this please mate?

  • All these lo-fi and degrad filters seem quite the rage nowadays. Especially (freeware) VSTs with those functions keep popping up. Curious what this one adds :) So please video review.

  • I wonder if using these destroys a dev's mental state....they spend many hours developing a sound engine that sounds awesome and nice clean signals then we come along and throw these degraders on them, how many devs sit there shaking their heads at these apps :D

  • I'm really shocked they went full-death metal for the app logo

  • Quick AB3 preset. With the app and others.

From what I've understood the cut-off point of the lo-pass filter it set to half of the set target sample-rate.
So if the target sample rate (for rate reduction) is set to 10K the cut-off frequency will be 5K.

And that's what it sounds like too (and well, I took the plunge and filled me some store credits).

  • Man filter sweeps sound so good on this thing

Absolutely - this is REALLY fun in apeMatrix.
