  • @AmpifyxNovation , I just want to say thanks for your attention and to say that there are probably quite a few people that appreciate the work you do and your taking the time to engage. I hope you aren't dispirited by the folks who imagine you can snap your fingers to get the resources you need.

For those that don't know, the music software/hardware business is a tough one. These companies don't have the deep pockets you imagine. A lot of the things we ask for here cost money (I.e. more engineers ,management and office space...) but would raise marginal amounts of money.

@AmpifyxNovation I would like for the Launchpad app to be able to have different bpm for each scene/row, like you can with Ableton Live’s session view.

I also wish the iPhone version of the Launchpad app wasn’t made to be so limited compared to the iPad version, especially not being able to use it with the Launch Control XL controller or edit the FX, and the omission of MIDI clock sync, all of which are found on the iPad version. It’s also puzzling why the design of the iPhone version was changed so that you can no longer see the name of the clips like you used to be able to.

  • And I still don’t understand why @AmpifyxNovation started this thread? 🤔

    Lol

  • In Launchpad, please redo the purchased packs file system and the store views of the packs, the new improvement in those done a while back is awful. Make it easier to find and sort through both of those things PLEASE (the ole if it ain’t broke...) the original way to search and find these things was vastly better than this “improvement”. In Blocswave, an easier way to scroll through all of my tons of imported samples. In Groovebox, make much more synth packs please and a way for all 3 Ampify apps to all seamlessly talk to each other in order to import my own and each other apps sample packs into a even more usable nice trifecta of apps. Are ya still on here Ampify?Peace.

Yes, honestly. It was like the start of a dialogue that then never happened. Not annoyed or anything, just confused.

+1. Same here Gus, confused...do they want our user input or is this just cheap therapy for us that they gave us or to keep us just guessing and then hoping for more, forever...I mean what IS UP???

I guess I have found him straightforward. He wanted to hear what people have to say and wanted us to understand a bit where they are at. Seems pretty straightforward to me.

I don’t know. If you ask for feedback, and start to see some repeated requests bubble to the top, then I’m thinking you will close the loop by responding to those requests (no, it’s not going to happen / yes, it’s on the to do list but might take a long time / yes, it’s actually the next feature we plan to release! - that sort of thing).

I was thinking that was why they started the thread? Maybe not. That’s cool. I’m looking forward to what they bring out next.

  • It will better make a poll with request or similar but that requires read the whole tread and after some synthetic work get the best and wider options.

I hope some day Novation will release a launchfoot.

  • The problem is - we have heard it all before- and more than once. They claim to be ‘back on the bus’- invite a lot of questions and/or comments - make a few sporadic appearances- answer a couple then vanish again. This has happened several times- check the vaults- it is tiresome and patronising. The vast majority of correspondence is completely ignored. Have a look around- the people sitting in front of you and to the side and behind you are ‘on the bus’. Can you see Matt anywhere? He is not on the bus I’m afraid. He’s in the Ampify company car- and he’s not even heading for the same destination.

  • Me I have totally given up on @AmpifyxNovation , actually I have started to use RemixLive instead of LaunchPad. their app could be killer apps and I know that users here don't mind paying IAP for development/features for these Apps. Instead the keep filling us up with sample packs.

Matt responded several times with specific plans and general explanations that made it clearer what their direction is. I don't see any other companies here offering that kind of information. There must be limits as to what he knows and what can be talked about. For apps this inexpensive, I'm impressed they would even take the time to listen to a few of us here.

So I shouldn’t ask him why converting them to AU is taking so long? (j/k) 😀
OK, I’ll let it drop and continue to enjoy the apps for what they are.
    ✌️

  • @gusgranite : in case you aren't aware, re-coding apps as AU can be a very non-trivial task. That is why many apps haven't been redone as AU. Also worth realizing that developing iOS music apps is FAR less lucrative than you imagine. Most devs have longer internal wishlists than it would ever be possible to complete and there isn't a big enough financial upside for companies to hire a lot of engineers to throw at development.

  • edited February 2019

@espiegel123 it was a joke... 😀 (that’s what j/k means). I have worked in development for many years so I understand the ins and outs. In my working life I’m the one responsible for finally delivering that feature list. It makes me appreciate these fine apps even more. It also makes me very grateful to developers when they do upgrade their apps to AUs.

My comments in this thread were more about marketing and communication, not quality of development.

  • I really like BlocsWave. I'm not bothered by it's 'limitations' and in fact like the way it's so simple and streamlined. It's also cool to be able to export to launchpad.

I use BW as a scratchpad app to quickly work out arrangement ideas and also to have a bit of fun in a completely different way to my normal workflow. It's fun to load up a project on my phone and play around for 10 mins.

What I would like to see is a way to open my iPhone projects on my iPad, ideally by having the option to save all your user loops and projects in iCloud for syncing.

  • I would love better library system for BLOCS

I buy 90% packs and I would love by date or personal categories would be awesome.

Along with file management as a whole.

  • agree

  • The last update of Launchpad blew up my install size by 1.3gb. reinstalled and it was back to normal.

I don't care, I just use Launchpad to mess about and get packs for blocs wave, but could easily see it being a problem for others.

  • Hello @AmpifyxNovation

Wouldn’t reinstalling destroy all your projects? Last I remember, there was no way of exporting projects from Launchpad. Has that changed? Because that would be huge for me!

  • @AmpifyxNovation sadly this conversation seems to have died but if your still listening :

If ampify are inundated and struggling with strategy vs features why not at least publish the specifications that allow for midi control ? That way, creators could setup their surface control as they sit fit. It seems to me looking at all the conversations since 2018, that 80% of request lists include the ability to be able to control the instruments.

Great points. You’re better off reaching them directly at [email protected]
I reported a bug in one of their apps recently and they responded within 3 days.

MIDI control is natively built for Novation controllers - Groovebox with the Novation Launchkey, Launchpad, and Ampify Studio with the Novation Launchpad.
