Baby steps for Apple
Usb-D : The cable is the battery![B) B)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/sunglasses.png)
I couldn't do better describing the hope to replace a Win or Mac by an iPad completely.
Apple want to sell their even more expensive Macs too, have you noticed?
Yes but while these iPads have a great hardware, the software is still very limited and it never could replace my macbook pro yet. In some years....maybe but then the iPads might cost 4K![:D :D](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
Also repairs will get really expensive if you are out on warranty. All that scares me a bit but still mostly if we get more and better tools for mixing and FX in the next months.
.
But at least there will be finally NS2 soon
Yes please let’s talk about another hype nevercoming product... there is still some place of peace in the forum to destroy
![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/trollface.png)
It will come....i mean it must since i don‘t like any other iOS DAW so far.
![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
You just destroyed my inner freedom
On the opposite I love use this emoticon in each post so dawn let’s talk about NS2...
![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/trollface.png)
When did you say it’s coming? What gamechanging features will it bring?
In a month or so.![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/mrgreen.png)
But we already talked much about it in other threads so i won‘t start it again here.
To the topic...i will check out the new iPads tomorrow in an Apple store and i hope they are sold out already because i‘m in danger to get one for 2K.
Midlife crisis at it‘s best
I edited your comment to add veracity.
:putatrollfacehere:
It costs $150 to quadruple the base 64GB to 256GB.

„The best choice for almost everyone“.....mmmhhh smells already....
No idea if this was posted here already...
https://www.iphoneincanada.ca/ipad/hyper-6-port-usb-c-hub-ipad-pro/
Do i spy an SD card and a usb drive attached to that??
SD cards and USB drives have always worked, but only for photos, wireless drives work for everything via third party apps.
That hub should have been full width with allthe ports towards the top and a brace running along the back of the pad, as is it will be cumbersome unless always on a desk.
My question is: does this hyper6port also have the mic-in at the audioport (it shows a headset with mic...)?
This guy seems to be able to connect a Launchpad Pro via USB C.
Any translaters out there !
Anyone else have the new iPad Pro tried this?

This sticks out:
“The iPad does not support generic external storage. You cannot plug in a USB-C flash drive and see the files in the Files app. This is an operating system limitation that many expect Apple will address in a future software update, but it is not possible today.”
I had one now in my hand and played about 10 minutes with it. The 12.9“ is the one which i would prefer.
But they even had not GarageBand installed on the store. This seems to be market so much into drawing and photo editing mainly.
It feels good and so but it doesn‘t impress me as much as i thought. For 2K (yes the 1TB wifi-only which i would take) is just way too much for such a nice tablet with such crippled software.
I think i have to wait another year or so.
always has been that way
Is that a good thing or bad?
And one of many reasons an old cheaper laptop might have worse hardware but a million times better connectivity and the tools i want on such an iPad Pro (which got already hot fast when i played with it so i wonder about performance over longer time with heavy AUv3).
The hardware exceeds the software by far and sadly it still feels more like a nice but giant iPhone.
Maybe iOS 13 will be better...
Actually no. They have not always used USB-C so this is a different story. Glass half-full.
Its only a connector change, that doesn’t magically become large storage support, they could have done that on an iPad 1, which also supported USB, large connected storage is just as unlikely to happen as it ever was, changing the shape of the connector on the device has and will have, zero bearing on that.
BTW, I’ve confirmed that these two devices work just fine:
Headphone & USB-C power pass thru.

Anyone know how you could connect the Korg PlugKey which has a male lighting connector to the female usb-c port on the new iPad Por?
Hey that’s great @sch. Explain more... how much have you tested the hub? can you connect multiple power hungry midi or audio devices to the hub? What about all the above plus an external monitor on HDMI? Many questions! ;-)
Sorry, mate, so far just confirmation that the iPad is indeed being powered/charged thru the hub and that my Arturia Minilab Mk 2 MIDI keyboard works thru it into Gadget etc. That's about it for what I use that would need to draw power thru the hub. I don't use an external monitor (although it does support HDMI o/p).
I don't have any outboard MIDI gear, and my Roland Duo-Capture EX audio interface I use with it's own external PS (or batteries) and I don't think it's capable of being powered thru the USB port.
Without the hub being externally powered via USB-C, it is powered from the iPad.
At this point, the combo of those two devices (headphone/USB-C pass-thru, and the hub) allow me to do exactly what I need it to.
Thanks @sch but unless you can use those hubs together somehow, how can you play your midi keyboard and monitor at the same time through ordinary wired headphones with a jack plug? Do you monitor on your iPad speakers whilst recording and do a dongle swap to listen back through your headphones?
