apeMatrix is going to be my very first AU host. Finally. AUMs price tag always spooked me off a little as I am still unsure about how far I want to take my new hobby.

I already got mood and I am definitely going to get iVCS3 as well, any other apeSoft essentials? That filter looks interesting and the description of Stria does as well.

I think a lot of Black Friday bargains will be seen as money wasted after the dust settles, but I’ve not yet heard of anybody having buyer’s remorse after buying AUM.

Yeah, I believe that and I probably will buy it someday. I have no hurry with that though. I still do not really understand the differences/similarities between AUM/Audiobus/apeMatrix and how they complement each other. I still have lots and lots to learn about everything but I already have good fun noodling around with various synths and looking forward to every bit more I experience.

Blimey yeah apeMatrix is a bargain at £6. I think it's underpriced at 12 now with all the new features.

Does seem a bit of a bargain. I was on the fence for a while then drifted away, but it's always been on the list, and I was hoping for a sale.

    Better grab it now then.

Some very good sales this year - I'd recommend Mood if you haven't got it.

This is great and I can see it working well with your style of working, if I understand it correctly. I think you'll love it. Enjoy the mountain!

I wonder how long the Quanta sale will be good for?

It has taken me a long time to really get/integrate/use AUM (and now I have I wonder of course what the hell took me so long). If you could say in a sentence what you find the apematrix special sauce to be (for you) I would find that helpful. I have bought it, just haven't done much more than open it and stare in confusion before closing it again :)

One sentence ... It is my Rozeta sandbox. *

*note - i've merely scratched the surface and I'm sure power users could give you better and more intelligible responses. I love the way it's laid out, you can see how all the connections work. It's brilliant in that regard. ApeMatrix is stable and it lends itself to experimentation. For me, anyway.

AUM is my main thing, which is why I've held off with the Ape. I've been very jealous of it's modulation capabilities though, so for six quid it's worth having just for that. I may even end up routing it into AUM for old times sake, but with every dial on every app being LFO's into an Apematrix automated frenzy.

If (when?) the grid routing clicks, it can really shorten the gap between “I wonder if...” and trying something out. Special sauce for me is speed. If it’s not a drag to set stuff up, I’ll try out more stuff.

The MIDI setup is really well done too. There’s a drop down list of parameters on each AU window (no hunting through menus/sub-menus) and it’s really quick to put an LFO on anything in that list, or assign a channel/cc.

If you want a more traditional workflow, it works great as a sound module, driven by MIDI from somewhere else (Xequence and Patterning 2 are both great for this).

  • Shoom 50% off. Must have for everone into noise and soundscapes

Just watched his vid - very helpful.

Another use for it I've noticed, is to be able to get two audio out's when using FX. This is handy for FX such as Kosmanaut and Filterstation which don't have wet/dry knobs. So you can balance the dry instrument sound with the wet fx audio.

I purchase most apps from iTunes running on my computer. If you have an iTunes account set up then this should work AFAIK.

On topic : Thanks Audio Damage! all your base belong to us.
Thanks too Apesoft, picked up ApeMatrix... into the rabbit hole.

  • What is the consensus on Xynthesizr purely as a synth? Currently I am not very interested in it’s external sequencer abilities, but the generative part sounds intriguing.
