I want to experiment a bit more with MIDI export/import first, as the issue might not be with Xequence 2. Will try exporting MIDI from at least one other app that is not Gadget, and importing into Xequence 2.
Gadget is somewhat unusual in exporting separate midi files rather than a single multichannel file. So it could be related to Xequence trying to save you having to do 4 separate imports? (Just speculating)
Good question.
I have not done a lot of MIDI file export-import. Is it typical for sequencers to export a whole song as a single SMF file?
It's a bit odd to me and I don't think most sequencers do it -- MIDI files support multiple tracks very well, so why should that feature not be used? MIDI "stems" could be offered as an option, of course.
Xequence can't automatically import multiple MIDI files onto separate tracks... the best you can do is manually create as many tracks / instruments as you have MIDI files, and then select each track and "Open In" each corresponding MIDI file, choosing "Insert" in the dialog that pops up.
Feel for you guys. Glad this midi stuff is not on my list of issues. 🙄

Thanks! I continued my little MIDI experiment and will follow up on the Xequence 2 thread.
This is expected behavior. Gadget exports one midi file for each Gadget track. Each midi file is the entire length of the song. When you open a midi file from the project screen, it’s like creating a new project. Since that midi file has only one instrument, it only creates one track.
To add the other tracks:
NOTE: Importing Gadget MIDI files with “Split By Markers” turned ON creates problems. It should be turned OFF. To get to the options for this, you need to open a midi file as a new project. Once you set it, that option will stick for the importing using the process above.
I avoided digging more deeply into MIDI, but I've come to accept that I need to learn more about using it properly, if I want to use a sequencer to sequence some nice sounding non-Gadget synths like Spectrum Synth Bundle, D1, etc.
Can't deny though that fixing drum parts and stuff like that after importing MIDI into another app is a pain.
Any idea how the Chord function next to the keyboard on each gadget is supposed to work?

Probably much simpler than you expect - hit the button, choose any of the few included mainstream scales and play what KORG thought should be the chords available for you to play.
Totally useless IMHO
Yeah, especially when compared to the smart keyboard in GarageBand which is actually pretty neat with easy access to bass note and chord inversions etc. etc.
Maybe @ioue has a surprise in store for us with the next update....this feature would take Gadget up a few notches if done right....I’m thinking Cthulhu style
We can always hope, I would just love to see y-axis velocity implemented on the keyboard just like in the Madrid Gadget as well as the 'chord memory' from iElectribe Wave (and the 'synth engine' from iElectribe Wave with option to load user samples). And If I can dream the drum engine from my beloved Volca Drum as a Gadget
Anyways, hoping the next update will drop soon...
I guess that is the promise and possibilities you get with Gadget 😎
yes, a proper Brush Kit would help, very surprised it wasn’t in there from the start.
@ioue ??
A 'sample selector' for Madrid would be good for starters...
The 'init' preset uses one set of samples when the other presets clearly use alternate sample sets...
Polymode for the iMS-20 Gadget and an added PWM modulation 'jack'.
Built-in 're-sampling' ie. select a track(s) & scene(s) and save it as a sample.
(This could also be used to create *.rex files for use with the Stockholm Gadget).
PCM oscillator for Wolfsburg with an option to load user samples.
A linear mode for the sequencer with option to use the 'tracks & scenes' as 'clip launchers' that get recorded to the time-line.
The list goes on and I'm excited to see what a future Gadget 4.0 will include
@Samu is there a good chord auv3 app where you can add chords to keys on your keyboard say in Audiobus 3? One where you can select from a list of chords?
Chord X and ChordPolyPad are both amazing. Navichord is pretty dope too although I don’t use it much anymore.
I'm lazy so I use KB-1 for that...
Thanks buddy...was looking for an Auv3 one ideally...does Xequence 2 have this functionality?
Yeah that’s a great one. Can you choose and assign chords tho?
Sorry I thought Chordpad x was AU. kB-1 is great as @samu suggested but not sure you can select, create or assign chords
ChordPadX is AU. Not sure it’s what you’re looking for but is well supported so far
ChordPadX by Mathieu Routhier https://apps.apple.com/us/app/chordpadx/id1448344704
True but there's already a load of 'matching' chords auto-generated for the key and scale that is selected so the need to do custom chords goes down
Another 'lazy-one-finger chord app' I tend to like is Quantichord....
Ah yes Quantichord is by the same dev as CPP I mentioned earlier. Good stuff by that guy.
Just flipping through some of the presets in Glasgow and Madrid reminded me of my number 1 wish for Gadget:
Reduce excessive battery usage
Decisions decisions
Funny thing is Korg could beef up their 1 finger Chords like these other apps (and meet many of our other requests) by simply bringing on board 1 or 2 interns (assuming they’re too cheap to pay another Dev). But they won’t. I doubt they even read this board since they didn’t even acknowledge us on their own board.
But it’s still a good place to share ideas with you guys and vent. LoL
@davis_korgrd does engage the forum from time to time and @ioue was responding to feedback and trying to provide quicker fixes for things.
Honestly, I now understand why devs don’t engage forums tho. People want everything and typically have no understanding or respect for the dev process so it can be distracting for devs to pay attention to it vs just focusing on developing.
